1st watched 2/27/2010 -- 5 out of 10(Dir-Sathyan Anthikad): Touching ending but just miss overall film about a mother, her daughter and the complications that come out of their lives together after love enters the daughters life. The first one and one-half hour of the movie just establishes the people in their lives, the setting, and the boy who comes into the daughter's life. The mother refuses to allow the boy and girl to be anything but friends because he doesn't have any parents alive and she wants the daughter to have a full family of support around her(we find out later why this is so important to her). The daughter, Ashu, doesn't accept this and moves away from her mother and dis-associates herself with her mom. The boyfriend, though, accepts the mothers wishes and tries to get the mother and daughter back together and feels responsible for this parting. The movie is well played but very soap-opera like with an overly-emphasized background soundtrack playing loud notes to make sure we know when something important is said. The supporting cast really doesn't add much to the movie and I think, this is where it fails. Finally, about 2 hours into the movie we start caring about the characters and I consider this a fault of the director. The ending is done well but the first two hour don't help pull the entire film together as a whole. An interesting and touching movie, but not quite good enough for the full 2 hours and 40 minutes to allow me to recommend it.
