Moana Set Photos Feature Catherine Laga'aia Filming Key Scene As Dwayne Johnson Confirms Muscle Suit
Moana 2 is eyeing a massive Thanksgiving weekend at the North American box office, and Disney's live-action adaptation of the first instalment - which has been dated for a 2026 release - is currently shooting in Hawaii.
Thanks to Just Jared, we now have a new look at newcomer Catherine Laga'aia in costume as Moana. Thus appears to be a recreation of an early scene in the original movie as Laga'aia was spotted talking to the ocean before seemingly being pushed back by the waves.
Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson wasn't spotted as Maui, though we did recently get to see him transformed into the character he also voices in animation.
In a red carpet interview with Extra, the actor confirmed speculation that he donned a muscle suit to bring the demigod to life in live-action is correct.

Snow White has emerged as Disney's most controversial live-action remake to date. Some of that is down to comments made by lead star Rachel Zegler and others due to what some feel are "woke" changes to the story.
Rumour has it that original plans called for the Seven Dwarfs to be ditched in place of a diverse group of Bandits. While the latter group is still expected to factor into Snow White, extensive changes have been made during reshoots to bring this version more in line with the animated 1937 classic.
If this new trailer is any indication, Snow White now stands a better chance of keeping fans on side as it looks more like what we've come to expect from these live-action retellings (albeit with a few modern twists).
While this sneak peek is in full HD, it hasn't been "officially" released yet by Disney. Instead, Disney Ukraine seemingly jumped...

As we first reported on Toonado.com, a second wave of set photos for the upcoming live-action Moana remake has just surfaced (via Mail Online) and these feature a much closer look at Catherine Laga'aia's title character and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson as Maui.
After seeing the blurry shots from yesterday, many fans quickly pointed out that it looked like the pro wrestler had somehow bulked up to portray a real-life version of the character he first voiced for 2016's Disney Animation hit.
Well, it turns out the actor has donned a muscle suit. This is a little ironic, particularly as many felt Johnson was taking a shot at Zachary Levi for wearing one in Shazam! while promoting Black Adam (he captioned a social media post by saying, "this is not your typical DC or Marvel padded muscle suit").

Actors Jonathan Majors and Meagan Good are engaged. The couple revealed the news at Sunday night’s Ebony Power 100 Gala event in Los Angeles, with Good showing off her diamond engagement ring on the red carpet.
In an interview with E! News at the event, the couple said the Ebony Power 100 Gala had a special significance for them as it was where they first in 2022. Majors, 35, and Good, 43, have been dating since May 2023, two months after the Lovecraft Country actor was arrested over an alleged assault against ex-girlfriend Grace Jabbari.
Good publicly stood by Majors as he was later charged and stood trial for assaulting Jabbari in November 2023. The Shazam! actress was a near constant presence in court during the three-week trial. In December, Majors was found guilty of one count of reckless assault in the third degree and harassment, and in April this year he was sentenced to a...

Here’s the truth about why Dwayne Johnson isn’t in the MCU (Photo Credit – Instagram)
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Marvel? It’s a match so obvious, but it’s almost surprising that it hasn’t happened. With Marvel taking Hollywood by storm and Johnson towering over the industry literally and figuratively, you’d think they’d cross paths. But here we are, wondering why the two most significant entertainment forces never joined. And yes, there are some solid reasons why.
First, let’s talk allegiance. While Marvel has the Avengers, Johnson has long aligned with their comic rival, DC. In 2014, he was cast as Black Adam, a major (and criminal) antihero in DC’s Shazam! Series. Fans expected him to show up alongside Shazam in 2019, but Johnson’s charisma needed a solo spotlight. By 2017, DC had confirmed Black Adam was getting his film. This Dceu role made it...

Every trend comes and goes. And it feels like, here in the '20s, cinema is on the waning edge of several of them. The uncontrolled bloat of major studios' streaming services came to a halt with last year's writers and actors' strikes, causing many of said services to curtail their spending habits. Major entertainment franchises ("Star Wars") made big cinematic plans, only to cancel them after several high-profile failures, inspiring a pivot to TV that's only proven sporadically successful.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe is an especially interesting case, having managed to crank out a few notable hits since the release of "Avengers: Endgame" in 2019. Still, the franchise has, in the last five years, begun to increasingly lose money due to films under-performing at the box office, troubled productions leading to a massive ballooning of budgets ("Secret Invasion" cost how much??), and a waning interest in its overwhelming glut of content.

The shark thriller film “Zipline” has launched sales with a cast that includes Ioan Gruffudd, Ross Butler, Holland Roden and Sonia Ammar.
The feature is written by George Mahaffey Jr. and directed by Magnus Martens. Simple House Films is producing, marking the debut project under that production banner. Black Bear owns the international rights to the film.
“After reuniting for a relaxing getaway on a tropical island, a group of college friends find their adventurous spirits tested to the limit when an exhilarating zipline excursion leaves them hanging perilously hundreds of feet over a deserted lagoon. As the temperature rises and the zipline begins to collapse, they work together to find a way down but are horrified to discover that an even greater threat awaits them in the depths below,” reads the film’s logline.

Amazon MGM Studios’ big $200M Dwayne Johnson and Chris Evans Santa Claus caper movie, Red One, landed on tracking recently and it’s eyeing a $36M opening in U.S./Canada with a chance for upside. The Jake Kasdan directed reteam with Johnson post their Jumanji movies opens on Nov. 15.
Red One was originally green lit for streaming, however, Amazon MGM Studios pivoted to theatrical after the movie tested well. Essentially when it comes to an Amazon MGM Studios deciding to go theatrical on a movie that was originally conceived for streaming, it boils down to whether the studio can cover their domestic P&a costs at the box office. Hence, there’s that confidence with Red One. Warner Bros. has overseas on the Seven Bucks production reteam per their offshore deal with Amazon MGM Studios.
Positive signs are that Red One is not just trending with guys, but Johnson’s female followers as well.

Zachary Levi recently took to Instagram to refute Whoopi Goldberg’s claim that Hollywood has “always been a very right-leaning town.” Goldberg tried to teach the “Shazam” actor a lesson during an episode of “The View” earlier this month after he publicly endorses Donald Trump for president. Levi said he was risking career suicide by supporting Trump because “Hollywood is a very, very liberal town.”
Goldberg rejected the claim as “more B.S.” and told Levi that “we’re a mixed bunch” in Hollywood and “sometimes it seems like there’s more Democrats and sometimes it seems like there’s more Republicans, but the truth of the matter is very few people seem to bite it because they’re Republican.” She went on to cite the ongoing careers of “working” Republican actors like Jon Voight and Dennis Quaid.

With the recent (extremely disappointing) release of "Joker: Folie a Deux," there is nothing standing between the old DC and the new DC Universe, which kicks off later this year when the animated "Creature Commandos" arrives on Max. Then DC Studios co-heads James Gunn and Peter Safran's plans kick into high gear next summer when Gunn's new "Superman" movie hits theaters. What are those plans, exactly? An ever-growing list of movies and TV shows has already been confirmed, and put simply, the DC Universe is getting a reboot. Unfortunately, there is still some confusion for the time being.
The easiest thing would be for Warner Bros. and DC Studios to say "we're starting over completely fresh. Nothing from the former Dceu counts, but everything going forward does." Unfortunately, it's not so simple. Certain projects that were in the works before are going to be ushered in as part of the future.

Back in July, Djimon Hounsou signed on to star in a shark thriller called Beneath the Storm alongside Phoebe Dynevor (Bridgerton) and Whitney Peak (Hocus Pocus 2), with Tommy Wirkola (Violent Night) writing and directing for Sony Pictures and producers Adam McKay and Kevin Messick of HyperObject Industries. While we wait to hear more information about that project, Hounsou is already moving on to another interesting film, one called The Monster. Deadline reports that Darren Lynn Bousman will be directing the film from a screenplay by Jonathan Bernstein and James Greer, the writers of Steven Soderbergh’s Unsane.
The Monster is set to begin filming in Danbury, Connecticut in November. The story follows two millennials who make quick money by leasing incredible New York City apartments they don’t own to people who don’t know they are being scammed. A new horror movie we're really looking forward to next year is Until Dawn. It's a live-action feature adaptation of the popular 2015 video game of the same name, and it's slated to come out in spring 2025. In fact, Sony's Screen Gems has just set an official theatrical release date for April 25, 2025, so make sure to save the date.
David F. Sandberg directed the Until Dawn movie from a screenplay written by Gary Dauberman. Blair Butler wrote the film's previous draft. Sandberg is best known for directing the hit supernatural horror film Lights Out. He's also known for helming the horror flick Annabelle: Creation and the superhero films Shazam! and Shazam! Fury of the Gods.
Dauberman, on the other hand, previously worked together with Sandberg on Annabelle: Creation. He wrote the screenplay for that film. He also wrote the scripts for the horror movies Annabelle, The Nun and Annabelle Comes Home.

The film adaptation of the horror video game “Until Dawn” will be released on April 25, 2025, Sony Pictures announced Tuesday.
The film is directed by “Shazam!” director David F. Sandberg.
The anticipated project stars Ella Rubin, Michael Cimino, Ji-young Yoo, Belmont Cameli, Odessa A’zion, Maia Mitchell and Peter Stormare. Inspired by the game, the film is an R-rated and terrifying love letter to the horror genre, centering on an ensemble cast.
Released in 2015 and featuring a voice cast led by Rami Malek and Hayden Panettiere, “Until Dawn” is a horror game in which players take control of eight different people who are stuck in a mountain forest and attacked by bloodthirsty creatures. The decisions made by the player determine how many of the eight characters survive until they are rescued at dawn, and the game’s autosave feature prevents the player from going back and changing their decisions.

2023 was a rotten year for the DC brand. DC Studios' announcement at the start of the year that the franchise would be rebooted lessened interest in Shazam! Fury of the Gods, The Flash, Blue Beetle, and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, with each of them struggling at the box office.
Only Blue Beetle really managed to escape the wrath of fans and critics, though it too flopped with $130 million on a budget of over $100 million.
2024's only DC movie is Joker: Folie à Deux and...well, what a week it's been for the sequel. With 33% on Rotten Tomatoes (and 32% courtesy of moviegoers), it's bombed at the box office and will be one of the year's biggest flops when all is said and done.
The blame game has also begun, with filmmaker Todd Phillips said to be responsible for the massive budget after decided he "wanted nothing to do with DC" while making this follow-up.

A wise person once said about failure, defeat, personal disaster, and setbacks: You either get bitter, or you get better. This perfectly pithy maxim might apply to Zachary Levi, who seemingly scorched Earth on his career recently, endorsing both Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Donald Trump—generally a big no-no in the striving-for-empathy, so-called “woke” and liberal-leaning Hollywood.

The remastered version of Supermassive Games’ horror game Until Dawn has failed to meet expectations, but will the film do any better?
Until Dawn is perhaps one of the best choose-your-own-fate videogames made so far. Supermassive Games, the developer behind the game, specialise in interactive narrative and it really doesn’t get better than 2015’s Until Dawn, which finds a bunch of young adults fighting a killer and mysterious creatures on a snowy mountain.
A remake, with upgraded graphics, was released on 4th October and had a rather catastrophic launch. As reported by Game Rant, Until Dawn attracted a measly 2,076 players on Steam on Friday, the day of release. It doesn’t help that the game came with a price tag of nearly $60, which is a lot of money to fork out for a game that has relatively low replay value.

Fans almost had Adam Brody in a DC movie earlier before his stint in Shazam! and he would have played The Flash in a George Miller film. This may come as a shock to many fans, but the Justice League franchise almost made it to the big screen during the same time as Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight trilogy.
Credits: Adam Brody in The O.C. / Fox
Evidently, the planned project would have featured a different cast, and even though the movie never got off the ground, something good came out of it. Two of the main stars ended up having a fling.
Adam Brody and Teresa Palmer Found Brief Romance Amid Cancelation of Justice League: Mortal
George Miller was set to helm Justice League: Mortal and it would have seen the biggest superhero crossover years before Marvel Studios’ The Avengers. The production was reportedly delayed due to the 2007 to 2008 WGA strike,...

Previously Warner Bros. used to be Christopher Nolan’s go-to production company for his iconic films. However, after Tenet, Nolan had a fallout with the company leading him to release Oppenheimer under Universal Pictures and Atlas Entertainment. This caused the whole Barbie (under Warner Bros.) vs Oppenheimer feud.

However, after months since the release of the film and its Oscar milestone, Warner Bros. had become desperate to earn back Christopher Nolan. But on a recent note, following Todd Phillips’ Joker: Folie à Deux and his gutsy step against Nolan—which eventually turned into a failure—seemingly made it worse for the production company. Not only did Joker 2 cause a financial disaster for WB but also further messed up their possibility of winning back Nolan.

2023 wasn't a good year for the DC brand. DC Studios announcing that the franchise would be rebooted at the start of the year lessened interest in Shazam!
2024's only DC movie is Joker: Folie à Deux and it's finally here. Unfortunately, reviews have not been kind, most fans seem to hate the sequel, and opening weekend box office projections make for painful reading.
Joker wasn't exactly a critical darling in 2019 but it broke records and earned Joaquin Phoenix an Oscar, so the $1 billion hit spawning a follow-up always seemed in equal parts both inevitable and unlikely. Where did it all go wrong for Joker: Folie à Deux?...

“Spoiler alert: I die,” Rachel Zegler says.
You’ll have to forgive the 23-year-old actress for giving away the ending to her next project. But to be fair, it’s been 400 years since a certain Englishman wrote the play in which she’s making her Broadway debut.
On Oct. 24, following a month of previews, Zegler will take the stage as Juliet in director Sam Gold’s revival of Shakespeare’s best-known romance. Things are going to get intense for her and her Romeo, played by “Heartstopper” star Kit Connor — after all, the tagline for the production reads, “The youth are f**ked.”
In other words, you won’t see them donning tunics or Elizabethan ruffs. Gold’s vision leans heavily into the culture of its Gen Z cast: Zegler says he originally pitched the project to her as “‘Romeo and Juliet’ if it was set in Troye Sivan’s ‘Rush’ music video.

Whoopi Goldberg is calling bullshit over “Shazam” star Zachary Levi’s claim that “Hollywood is a very, very liberal town” and thus his recent endorsement of Donald Trump for president may “very well constitute career suicide.” Levi made the claim during a rally in which he championed Trump’s campaign and told attendees that we’re “going to make America great again.”
“So, okay. That’s not necessarily true,” Goldberg said about Hollywood being dominated by liberals (via Entertainment Weekly). “From the beginning of Hollywood, it’s always been a very right-leaning town, but I know you don’t know much about the Hollywood history, so let me school you.”
Goldberg told Levi that “we’re a mixed bunch” and “sometimes it seems like there’s more Democrats and sometimes it seems like there’s more Republicans, but the truth of the matter is very few people seem to bite it because they’re Republican,...

You may have heard that Hollywood actor Zachary Levi, best known for his role as Shazam in the Dceu, recently endorsed GOP candidate Donald Trump in the upcoming election.
Following support from more prominent celebrities like Taylor Swift and Jennifer Lawrence for Kamala Harris, Levi has joined a controversial list of lesser-known celebrities endorsing Trump, including Roseanne Barr, Russell Brand, Jim Caviezel, Kelsey Grammer, Rob Schneider, Jon Voight, and James Woods.
Levi initially supported Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who has since withdrawn from the race and encouraged voters to back Trump. With Rfk Jr. out of the picture, Levi has naturally(?) transitioned to endorse Trump’s campaign.
While it’s unclear why he chose to publicly support Trump or how closely his political views align with Trump’s, this endorsement has led to significant backlash. Many fans are bitterly disappointed by his decision, with some going so far as to...

Zachary Levi endorsed Donald Trump at a rally in Michigan on Saturday before introducing former presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard to the stage. The “Shazam!” actor was at the “Team Trump’s Reclaim America Tour” event to moderate a conversation with Kennedy and Gabbard.
“We’re here to make sure that we are going to take back this country. We are going to make it great again. We are going to make it healthy again,” Levi said on stage. “And so, I stand with Bobby, and I stand with Tulsi, and I stand with everyone else who is standing with President Trump. Jenna Ortega is one of Hollywood’s many A-listers who blew up on-screen lately. Despite being in the industry since the age of 9, Ortega’s most successful run was with Netflix’s Wednesday, where she acted as Wednesday Addams, the show’s lead character. But she has also worked on the sets of other brilliant projects like Jane the Virgin, You, Stuck in the Middle, Beetlejuice, and more.

Lanterns: Multiple Actors Passed on Hal Jordan Because of Franchise’s ‘Baggage’ - Main Image
Josh Brolin was making the rounds a few weeks ago because it was said that he was being eyed for the role of an older Green Lantern Hal Jordan, and though he ultimately passed, other actors like Chris Pine and Timothy Olyphant were said to be eyed for the role.
With Kyle Chandler ultimately landing the part, reports are going around that the series was actually having a hard time getting someone to say yes to being one of DC’s most iconic figures.

Zachary Levi recently faced another setback in his career after the poor box office performance of Harold and the Purple Crayon. The film received negative reviews and could not seem to perform well due to the presence of films like Deadpool & Wolverine, Despicable Me 4, and Inside Out 2.

Whenever young Darla Dudley screamed “Shazam!” she would transform into an adult superhero version of herself played by the beautiful Meagan Good. The actress always wanted to be a part of a proper action flick and what better to achieve this dream than by playing a superhero?
Meagan Good in Shazam! (2019) | New Line Cinema
During auditions, Meagan Good didn’t really know which film she was exactly auditioning for. All she did know was that she had to go in and pretend to be a ten-year-old girl, which was somehow her cup of tea. Of course, the actress nailed her audition and the role was hers to take but when she was told the film was Shazam! she mistook it for Shaquille O’Neal’s 1996 comedy Kazaam.

Loki and Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania star Jonathan Majors allegedly assaulted his ex-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari, during a March 2023 domestic dispute.
She claimed that she'd seen a text message from another woman on his phone, prompting the former MCU actor to assault her as he attempted to retrieve the device. Majors was later found guilty and is now attempting to return to acting, despite a New York Times story which saw two other women allege that the actor had physically and emotionally abused them.
Since their romance was first made public last May, Shazam! and Shazam! Fury of the Gods star Meagan Good has remained by Majors' side and publicly supported him.
Talking to People, the actress broke her silence on a relationship which has been a big talking point in the tabloids over the past year or so.
"We met at an event and it was just instant chemistry,...

While remakes can be hit-or-miss, we hope that the upcoming remake of the natural horror film The Breed does the original 2006 movie justice. We first learned of this film back in May 2024, and more information has come out since then.
The Breed is set to be directed and produced by filmmaking brothers Nathan and Griff Furst. They previously helmed the horror action film Nightmare Shark. They will produce this horror flick through their film production company, Curmudgeon Films, which will also be handling sales across the Americas. Additionally, the movie will be co-produced and financed by Daro Film Distribution, which also represents the international rights to the film. It's unknown who will be writing the script, though.

Long before Marvel made history with its billion-dollar Avengers film or Academy Award-nominated Black Panther, the pieces of the comic universe were scattered among Hollywood’s numerous studios. The MCU played with only the spades in its deck by bringing out Iron Man, Thor, and Captain America.
But true universe-building only began when Disney acquired Marvel Studios in 2009 and 20th Century Studios in 2019, essentially bringing the MCU, the X-Men, and the Fantastic Four properties under one banner.

Among them, X-Men and the Fantastic Four primarily take the cake with Pedro Pascal leading the charge in the MCU Phase Six film.

You'd be hard pushed to find someone who doesn't get at least some joy out of the Paddington movies, and the news that a third instalment is on the way was met with (almost) universal approval
StudioCanal and Columbia Pictures have now debuted the first trailer for the next movie in the much-loved franchise, which will follow the always polite and gregarious bear as he travels back to his home in Peru to visit his Aunt Lucy with the Brown family along for the ride.
The trailer for Paddington in Peru was unveiled at a special event in London on Wednesday morning.
“The first film gave us a bit of information about where Paddington came from and how he found his home in London, and then in the second story he almost loses that home but in doing so he consolidates his community in London and we also find out...
