Moana 2 is eyeing a massive Thanksgiving weekend at the North American box office, and Disney's live-action adaptation of the first instalment - which has been dated for a 2026 release - is currently shooting in Hawaii.

Thanks to Just Jared, we now have a new look at newcomer Catherine Laga'aia in costume as Moana. Thus appears to be a recreation of an early scene in the original movie as Laga'aia was spotted talking to the ocean before seemingly being pushed back by the waves.

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson wasn't spotted as Maui, though we did recently get to see him transformed into the character he also voices in animation.

Snow White has emerged as Disney's most controversial live-action remake to date. Some of that is down to comments made by lead star Rachel Zegler and others due to what some feel are "woke" changes to the story.

Rumour has it that original plans called for the Seven Dwarfs to be ditched in place of a diverse group of Bandits. While the latter group is still expected to factor into Snow White, extensive changes have been made during reshoots to bring this version more in line with the animated 1937 classic.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Marvel? It’s a match so obvious, but it’s almost surprising that it hasn’t happened. With Marvel taking Hollywood by storm and Johnson towering over the industry literally and figuratively, you’d think they’d cross paths. But here we are, wondering why the two most significant entertainment forces never joined. And yes, there are some solid reasons why.

First, let’s talk allegiance. While Marvel has the Avengers, Johnson has long aligned with their comic rival, DC. In 2014, he was cast as Black Adam, a major (and criminal) antihero in DC’s Shazam! Series. Fans expected him to show up alongside Shazam in 2019, but Johnson’s charisma needed a solo spotlight. By 2017, DC had confirmed Black Adam was getting his film. This Dceu role made it...

Every trend comes and goes. And it feels like, here in the '20s, cinema is on the waning edge of several of them. The uncontrolled bloat of major studios' streaming services came to a halt with last year's writers and actors' strikes, causing many of said services to curtail their spending habits. Major entertainment franchises ("Star Wars") made big cinematic plans, only to cancel them after several high-profile failures, inspiring a pivot to TV that's only proven sporadically successful.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is an especially interesting case, having managed to crank out a few notable hits since the release of "Avengers: Endgame" in 2019. Still, the franchise has, in the last five years, begun to increasingly lose money due to films under-performing at the box office, troubled productions leading to a massive ballooning of budgets ("Secret Invasion" cost how much??), and a waning interest in its overwhelming glut of content.

The shark thriller film “Zipline” has launched sales with a cast that includes Ioan Gruffudd, Ross Butler, Holland Roden and Sonia Ammar.

The feature is written by George Mahaffey Jr. and directed by Magnus Martens. Simple House Films is producing, marking the debut project under that production banner. Black Bear owns the international rights to the film.

Amazon MGM Studios’ big $200M Dwayne Johnson and Chris Evans Santa Claus caper movie, Red One, landed on tracking recently and it’s eyeing a $36M opening in U.S./Canada with a chance for upside. The Jake Kasdan directed reteam with Johnson post their Jumanji movies opens on Nov. 15.

Red One was originally green lit for streaming, however, Amazon MGM Studios pivoted to theatrical after the movie tested well. Essentially when it comes to an Amazon MGM Studios deciding to go theatrical on a movie that was originally conceived for streaming, it boils down to whether the studio can cover their domestic P&a costs at the box office. Hence, there’s that confidence with Red One. Warner Bros. has overseas on the Seven Bucks production reteam per their offshore deal with Amazon MGM Studios.

Positive signs are that Red One is not just trending with guys, but Johnson’s female followers as well.

Zachary Levi recently took to Instagram to refute Whoopi Goldberg’s claim that Hollywood has “always been a very right-leaning town.” Goldberg tried to teach the “Shazam” actor a lesson during an episode of “The View” earlier this month after he publicly endorses Donald Trump for president. With the recent (extremely disappointing) release of "Joker: Folie a Deux," there is nothing standing between the old DC and the new DC Universe, which kicks off later this year when the animated "Creature Commandos" arrives on Max. Then DC Studios co-heads James Gunn and Peter Safran's plans kick into high gear next summer when Gunn's new "Superman" movie hits theaters. What are those plans, exactly? An ever-growing list of movies and TV shows has already been confirmed, and put simply, the DC Universe is getting a reboot. Unfortunately, there is still some confusion for the time being.

The easiest thing would be for Warner Bros. and DC Studios to say "we're starting over completely fresh. Nothing from the former Dceu counts, but everything going forward does." Unfortunately, it's not so simple. Certain projects that were in the works before are going to be ushered in as part of the future.

Back in July, Djimon Hounsou signed on to star in a shark thriller called Beneath the Storm alongside Phoebe Dynevor (Bridgerton) and Whitney Peak (Hocus Pocus 2), with Tommy Wirkola (Violent Night) writing and directing for Sony Pictures and producers Adam McKay and Kevin Messick of HyperObject Industries. While we wait to hear more information about that project, Hounsou is already moving on to another interesting film, one called The Monster. A new horror movie we're really looking forward to next year is Until Dawn. It's a live-action feature adaptation of the popular 2015 video game of the same name, and it's slated to come out in spring 2025. In fact, Sony's Screen Gems has just set an official theatrical release date for April 25, 2025, so make sure to save the date.

David F. Sandberg directed the Until Dawn movie from a screenplay written by Gary Dauberman. Blair Butler wrote the film's previous draft. Sandberg is best known for directing the hit supernatural horror film Lights Out. He's also known for helming the horror flick Annabelle: Creation and the superhero films Shazam! and Shazam! Fury of the Gods.

Dauberman, on the other hand, previously worked together with Sandberg on Annabelle: Creation. He wrote the screenplay for that film. He also wrote the scripts for the horror movies Annabelle, The Nun and Annabelle Comes Home.

The film adaptation of the horror video game “Until Dawn” will be released on April 25, 2025, Sony Pictures announced Tuesday.

A remake, with upgraded graphics, was released on 4th October and had a rather catastrophic launch. BlumFest has found its lineup for this year’s Halloween season. It will kick off with the 2009 found footage feature Paranormal Activity, that will get a one-night only re-release.

Exclusive: Djimon Hounsou has joined the cast of Sony Pictures’ untitled thriller from producers Adam McKay and Kevin Messick. Phoebe Dynevor and Whitney Peak are also starring, with Tommy Wirkola writing and directing.

Loki and Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania star Jonathan Majors allegedly assaulted his ex-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari, during a March 2023 domestic dispute.

She claimed that she'd seen a text message from another woman on his phone, prompting the former MCU actor to assault her as he attempted to retrieve the device. Majors was later found guilty and is now attempting to return to acting, despite a New York Times story which saw two other women allege that the actor had physically and emotionally abused them.

Since their romance was first made public last May, Shazam! and Shazam! Fury of the Gods star Meagan Good has remained by Majors' side and publicly supported him.

Talking to People, the actress broke her silence on a relationship which has been a big talking point in the tabloids over the past year or so.

While remakes can be hit-or-miss, we hope that the upcoming remake of the natural horror film The Breed does the original 2006 movie justice. We first learned of this film back in May 2024, and more information has come out since then.

The Breed is set to be directed and produced by filmmaking brothers Nathan and Griff Furst. They previously helmed the horror action film Nightmare Shark. They will produce this horror flick through their film production company, Curmudgeon Films, which will also be handling sales across the Americas. Additionally, the movie will be co-produced and financed by Daro Film Distribution, which also represents the international rights to the film. It's unknown who will be writing the script, though.

Long before Marvel made history with its billion-dollar Avengers film or Academy Award-nominated Black Panther, the pieces of the comic universe were scattered among Hollywood’s numerous studios. The MCU played with only the spades in its deck by bringing out Iron Man, Thor, and Captain America.

But true universe-building only began when Disney acquired Marvel Studios in 2009 and 20th Century Studios in 2019, essentially bringing the MCU, the X-Men, and the Fantastic Four properties under one banner.
