AWOL soldier gets a kind of justice.
I'm English, so I don't suppose I get the whole meaning behind this film. I can't say anything about the truth of it. I can say I've rarely seen a film that was so well-written, and so sympathetically acted. No-one puts a foot wrong. Well, perhaps one actor is a bit too genre, too sensational, but I expect he did as he was directed. I'd've preferred the character to be less full-on, but there you are. Otherwise the script is taut, and the acting full of feeling. I can see why it didn't get a release, though I would've thought it could have got some TV time. But see this if you can. Not for its accuracy, that's for another kind of verdict, but as a piece of film-making, as a piece of writing, as a human artistic endeavour, yes, watch it.
