Drama "in the improvisational style of Andreas Dresen or Mike Leigh" about three drifted apart sisters (Meret Becker, Stephanie Stappenbeck and Heidrun Bartholomäus) finding back together after the death of their mother.
| A beautiful movie with an excellent performance from all actors
I saw this movie on a flight sometime ago. I don't speak or understand German as such and I was mainly motivated to check this European category out because my girlfriend is from Germany. On retrospect, I am glad that I did so and also persisted, even though I hadn't ever heard of it before.
The movie poignantly deals with the subject of loneliness in forms that range from early adult disenchantment, midlife crisis to teenage angst. This emotional theme is depicted through the life of 3 sisters - Johanna, Ali and Mathilda, revolving around the struggles they are undergoing in their personal relationships. As such, every single character in the movie acted brilliantly and the language barrier did not remain imposing enough for me to understand and appreciate this work. In fact, I am quite inclined to watch other works of the director Vanessa Jopp now.
