A new trend in Bollywood seems to be remaking Amitabh Bachchan’s old classics. Farhan Akhtar remade Don and followed it up with a sequel. Karan Johar remade Agneepath, which was a huge success at the box-office even though the original Bachchan film failed commercially.

Bollywood has always borrowed from Hollywood films, but the recent need has been to secure official rights, especially following recent public notices being issued by Hollywood studios. Hollywood on the other hand has borrowed continuously from European cinema, including a remake of the 1997 Spanish film Abre Los Ojos (Close your eyes) into the 2001 Tom Cruise-starrer Vanilla Sky. Now get ready for Bollywood's first offical Spanish remake.
Amitabh Bachchan will be seen in the Hindi remake of 2004 Spanish hit Incautos (Swindled). He's been signed to play the role of Frederico, a well-seasoned con artist, who joins a fellow a con artist and apprentice, to execute the mother of all cons! But when a lady love from Frederico's past re-enters his life, this clearly exposes a weakness in him and potential double-crossing, in this plot-twisted crime thriller.

I love interviewing directors because they are so excited and passionate about their films and yes, they love to talk about them, which is great for you and me! Recently, I got a chance to interview a director turned producer who provided brilliant, in-depth answers to all my questions. You know him as the director of Ek Ajnabee, Mission Istanbul and Shootout at Lokhandwala, but for Hide & Seek, Apoorva Lakhia got off the director's chair and moved into the producer's seat. The reason? He did it for his assistant Shawn Arranha, who is making his debut as a director with the mystery/thriller/scary film. Did he like being a producer? Well, he says it has its charms but not really, yet he is really proud and happy with how the final product turned out. Take a look at my chat with Apoorva as he gives us an inside look...

Arjun Rampal is quite sure that he can't really get intimidated by presence of big stars around him even though they may be seniors in the industry. Reason being that he has worked with the 'living legend' Amitabh Bachchan in as many as three films - Aankhen, Ek Ajnabee and The Last Lear. Post these three movies, he is quite comfortable about getting into a face/off with any other actor. "Mr. Bachchan is someone I have admired and if you can stand next to him and survive, you c...

Sanjay Dutt is on a role-buying spree. After playing a military intelligence officer in Lamhaa, he's all set to play a ganglord in Gangs Of London which starts shooting in July 2008. The project has gone through some radical changes. The original director ad filmmaker Shamim Desai has been replaced by Jassi Walia. Desai who was Dino Morea's business partner at one time was also relieved of his duties from Dino whose first production Desai was supposed to direct. "My brother Jassi who's studied filmmaking in New York is directing Gangs Of London now," confirms producer Bunty Walia. "Jassi has been researching the various ethnic gangs of London and their looks. And he has come up with this incredible look for Sanjay." Apparently, Dutt who is rapidly losing weight is still to lose the paunch. But by the time Gangs Of London starts shooting in July, Dutt is expected to...
