Adrift in New York City, a recent college graduate's life is upended by his father's mistress.
Director Marc Webb expressed interest in the project a full 12 years before it hit theaters. He was committed to directing The Amazing Spider-Man and its sequel first, though upon completion of those two films he agreed to direct the "The Only Living Boy in New York".
And eventually I came up with a collection of essays which I called Mary Jane vs. Everything, which I was incredibly proud of. And, you know, I showed them to my Dad.

The letter sent to Thomas by the Penguin Group at the end of the film has a typo in it: where it reads 'I with you every success with your book...' should actually be 'I wish you every success with your book'? Didn't expect that from the 'Penguin Group'.
