  • Some people do not understand the finer points of 12 Oz. Mouse. A lot of the humor is in the delivery and is quite intangible. Some people, like Mr. Fun over there, do not see the humor in the show. Those people are not the "life of the party" and are not "enjoyable". The show is ridiculous, knows that it is ridiculous and has fun with it.

This 10 line minimum makes me furious.

    The show is still good.

    I'm getting bored.

Finally, minimum amount of lines achieved.

I'm going to now go have 12 beers.

Glad the show is back I used to watch it on Adult Swim all the time, one of the best Adult Swim shows
  • Warning: Spoilers
I know it's long, but i swear at the end it will all make more sense.

The show at first gives you an impression that it is useless shite the creators of adult swim would pump out just to show you they they can make people watch anything.. its poorly drawn and animated, and the scripts seem so random and unplanned that it isn't even worth being on TV.... but the more that I see the more I think that the insane rambling in the early episodes were important clues to the shows TRUE plot. the show seems like the mouse simply does odd jobs for beer. As the show progresses he meets new people like a pink cube with glasses that talks as if he's superior to everyone, a cop who sounds and acts like he is constantly stoned, a man with crazy nightmarish waving blond hair along with his giant spider comrade (his character grows giant corn-dogs) , mouse has always gotten in giant gunfights at random, but just recently we discovered that the annoying loud feminist is actually a robot, in another episode the pink cube and the shark "prez" dude talk about the "forms" they chose, the cube spouting about his 4 great points, and the shark about one of his own traits(i cant remember), the man growing the corn-dogs talked about "Arachnid Xenomorphication" with mouse(as if they were old comrades) to which the corn dog growing man replied "and thats where the dog went" this brought to my mind that his spider companion had behaviors similar to that of a dog, the blond man went on to talk about how he grows his corn-dogs, and how they were able to "send through" some kind of "fibers" they may hint towards their purpose but i cant remember the specifics, the mouse then said something about how "that" was the reason we built that robots , then the mouse went to look for a golden locket shaped just like his squirrily screeching friend which was stolen in an earlier episode, then it showed the man who stole it trading it with a freakish demon thing for gold, the demon ate it and began destroying the city, mouse asked what it was the shop owner replied by stating "thats what kills us.. thats what kills us all" the mouse then says something along the lines of: "then lets go kill it back".. All of this information leads me to believe that the people in the cardboard village weren't originally in the forms they now have, the blond creepy man is somehow related in mouses return to "normal" whatever that is. I believe the screeching mouse has a larger role later and I'm pretty sure the ending to the series will blow my mind, this show is insane but thats why i love it, and if the show really IS linking together in a significant way then it could very well land itself up as one of my favorite series.
  • Glance at this show on the surface and what do you see? Dialogue that sounds like it was recorded during a weed session and animation that looks like it was drawn by a 4-year-old on drugs.

But dig a little further, keep your eyes and your mind open, and you'll find something deeper. The show is not 100% spontaneous nonsense. The entire series is connected in an ongoing and ever-growing story arc, with each episode picking up where the previous one left off. Such a sense of continuity and development in writing is especially uncommon for a 15-minute comedy series on Adult Swim. But it's the style of the comedy itself that really takes it over. It's expressed in a post-modern existentialist manner, a sort of Seinfeld meets David Lynch meets Home Movies hybrid.

The low-tech style of the animation, the surprising depth of the writing, and the very achievement of the execution make the show nothing short of brilliant.
  • Warning: Spoilers
I heard many bad things about this show: That it was stupid, poorly animated pretentious and without sense at all, and yes, all that is true: Is stupid, poorly animated, possibly pretentious and without sense at all, but in some way it managed to keep my interest from the first chapter until the ending. The animation is extremely simplistic, the dialogue is cryptic and confusing, at first starts as a "random" comedy (Except that it wasn't funny) but it quickly turns into a weird sci-fi thriller, filled with strange plot twists and bizarre situations. And then it's when I started liking this show, because the mystery was bigger and bizarre while the series advances. I really love this series, but I'm sure that many people will hate this. I guess that is not a matter if someone "understand" the whole thing (I don't understand this show, and I love it) but only a matter of taste.

Think about this: Some people love the films from David Lynch and others loathe them. The same can be applied to this show: Some love it, others can't stand it. Personally I loved it.
  • 12 oz. Mouse isn't really a comedy. While the first 2 episodes may make it seem as such. The show definitely goes down a road that makes it super enjoyable and strange. The show starts as a plot about an alcoholic mouse who does odd jobs for more beer. But almost immediately the show goes off the rails. It would make you think it's a generic adult swim comedy but it becomes a David Lynch Meets Home Movies like format with a story that is confusing. But don't take that as a fault. Mouse is a show built on using qualities that would make a cartoon bad but using them to improve the show in a unique way. If the show was drawn well, it wouldn't be 12 oz. Mouse. If the show was a super simple comedy it wouldn't be 12 oz. Mouse. It's an interesting watch I'd recommended to open minded viewers and people who enjoy absurdist humor. And with a new season coming out soon on July 20th. It's a good time to start watching
  • Personally, I like this show. I, however, can see why people could hate this. The simplicity of the "animation" and Skillet's screeching can be a bit overbearing, but this is what you pay for with a show about an alcoholic mouse.
  • The sad thing is, this still isn't the absolute worst show I've ever seen. This is still repulsive, though. This is EASILY among the worst garbage Cartoon Network ever pumped out. (Before you say anything, Adult Swim IS a programming block on Cartoon Network, making it's original shows Cartoon Network shows as well.)

First, THE ANIMATION. Good god, why? I think they used Microsoft Paint for it, it's THAT horrendous. And the voice acting... had even less effort put into it, if that is even possible. I mean, it sounds like the people are drunk off their a$$! (Wait, they probably are).

However, I also will look underneath that surface and at the story. Still crud. The humor.... is anti-humor at BEST. Like the office scene in the pilot. The joke was the ticking clock, which made no sense.

And the big issue besides the animation... why does it exist? It's humor fails to be... anything, really. From the voice to the animation to the "humor" (there are big awkward silences too, like they expect this awkward dialogue to bring any reaction from fans), I don't understand WHY this bile is good in the slightest.

In the end, I appreciate the story, but EVERYTHING else in the show is trash.

It's sad. If this garbage was made on the internet, people would pan it. Since it's official, though, people claim it's deep... why....

EDIT:Increased rating from 2 stars to 3.5 stars.
  • At first glance, you may think this show is stupid, cheap, and overall a waste of air time. That's what I thought. Then I gave it a chance, started listening closely to the dialogue and it started to become my favorite show on Adult Swim. It was only a bonus that the plot sent us through loopholes, and us 12 Oz Mouse fans looked in the dictionary to encrypt a message we thought was there.

The dialogue and characters are all just perfected, even though there are a fairly large amount of re-accruing characters you feel like you know them all well, which isn't that common on 15 minute AS cartoon shows.

A hidden gem, if you are able to give it a chance despite it's early animation (and as you go on you realize it wouldn't fit with anything BUT that animation) you might find a new favorite show.

This show is not funny or entertaining in any way. It doesn't even make any sense. The theme song is cool though.
  • And that's exactly what 12 Oz. Mouse does. Most people hate it because of the animation style, which is basically children's drawings moving around on a white backdrop. Many would say that Adult Swim is getting lazy, with recent additions to its programming being the animation-slideshow style Tom Goes To The Mayor and now simplistic 12 Oz. Mouse, but honestly they don't have a lot of money, and they are producing other shows in the background. For example, here, Matt Maiellaro is working on Squidbillies AND Aqua Teen Hunger Force beside his side project 12 Oz Mouse. And for that, I think that he has put out a very intriguing and humorous show. He does all the work himself.

It is truly an individual's work, something that he's getting out of his head. Maybe you don't think it's funny, but some of us do. It's hard to understand the humor in it, but the fact that 12 Oz Mouse is so ridiculous and almost dark in its reality makes it fun to watch. Chances are this show will end with most hating it, but if you take it for what it is you might enjoy it.
  • right off the bat I figured this show wouldn't be good but I was too lazy to change the channel so I stuck around and gave it the benefit f the doubt... boy was I mistaken. what that led to was the worst 12 minutes of my life, I tried to find any glimmer of humor in this show, I really did but this is a dry dead wasteland of comedy. I'm glad this show only lasted one season and if it comes back I'll grab my torch to send this foul beast back into the abyss. but I digress the pros to this show are... well they're... the characters are... the mouse is green, sure lets go with that. the cons? everything else! this is by far the worst show ever put on television, the animation looks like somebody made a stick figure on MS paint and crapped it out then burnt it alive and pee'd out the fires. the acting is uninspired as the actors just sluggishly say the most incoherent rubbish imaginable heres a line shark thing- "are you drunk?" mouse guy-"..............not drunk enough" then there's complete silence. seriously I'd rather watch Minoriteam than this. the music? well there's some generic metal or something in the opening then its just dead silence for the rest of the episodes. I don't give a damn if the squirrel has a machine gun, rocket car, stripper, it doesn't matter if the show isn't funny. Adult Swim seriously needs to stick to the 3rd party stuff because more than half of their own programming blows... except Home Movies, Sealab 2021, Harvey Birdman Attorney at Law, Venture Bros, and... thats about it. stay away from this show
  • For any fans of David Lynch's work, you may be interested in this series. At first glance, it seems to be a random collection of absurd dialogue and bizarre characters. Anyone who can't get past this, you'll probably find it pretty dumb. There's something else here though, a very surreal air. When the episodes are watched in order, there's a very dream-like quality to it all, a loosely tied collection of characters and events that seem to be getting at something deeper, perhaps a dreamland or some alternate reality. I won't go into detail, but those who have seen it might know what i'm talking about.

Whatever the case, if surreal humor is you're thing, whether there's anything more to this or not, you'll enjoy it. I find it hilarious. And it's even better when under the influence. Definitely an exquisite show.

I've looked around the internet and this show has been bashed too many times to count. Most people find it unfunny, confusing and poorly drawn but they are wrong. The reason for it to be poorly drawn is because you're seeing it through Fitz's prospective. The reason everyone talks in half sentences that seem to make no sense (but in often case do if you've seen all the 12 Oz Mouse episodes because one thing connects to another) is because everyone on the show is wasted. This show is only funny for people who can see its big picture and understand the type of world that Fitz lives in. So buy the ticket and take the ride, and let the weirdness fulfill you.

    Warning: Spoilers
What could be said about a series like "12 oz Mouse"? Some love it, many others hate it. For many people, is just a stupid, nonsensical show. Perhaps it is: Many people expected this to be something like "Aqua Teen Hunger" (It was made by the same creator, after all) just to find a weird story of some sort, about a drunk, crudely drawn green mouse with amnesia. ..And it was incredibly, incredibly unfunny. But it was supposed to be funny? I think not. There is clearly an eerie, thrilling subtext behind all the absurdity. There is confusing mystery that grows more and more while the series advances, just like in "Twin Peaks" and "Lost". But the characters are absurd, and the mystery of the story is equally confusing as well. So how we are able to judge a series like it? Some would call this "trash" (And many other worse thing) Never mind, they are on their right to think on that way. But personally, I enjoyed "12 oz Mouse". I was trapped by its absurdity and nonsense from the very first moment. I loved to follow the strange plots and situations. In some moments, I even pretended to know what all was about. But "12 oz Mouse" is beyond any meaning, is a unique work of art, and probably it would never will be any other series as this. This is the kind of art that the viewer could love or hate. That doesn't mean that the people that likes it is more intelligent than the people that hates it, it just a matter of different tastes, the result of our different concepts of what is artistic and what is not, what is funny and what is boring. "12 oz Mouse" is, to me, a work of art. From the very first moment that I saw this, I didn't know very well what to expect…And I wasn't disappointed for what came next. "12 oz Mouse is 12 oz Mouse" says one reviewer. I couldn't agree more with that.

The authors must think they've really created something, but any person with at least half a brain would disagree.

This show would be original if there weren't any other senseless, badly drawn cartoons. The author's goal was probably to make the most senseless, worst drawn cartoon ever. So instead of 1 star out of 10, I'll put two stars, just to show that the authors have failed even at being worst of the worst. This show is just mediocre garbage.

People who watch this cartoon and say they "simply love it", are just begging for attention and trying to demonstrate how out-of-the-box they are. Whatever.

To sum it up, it's just a waste of time.

Shows like this don't come along often enough. Its so offbeat and irrelevant that you will either hate it or love it. Chronicling the adventures of Fitz the drunken, belligerent, shiftless mouse and his trusty friend Skillet (who appears to be a chinchilla), 12 Oz Mouse manages to make the most nonsensical situations into comedic gold. You never know what to expect from Fitz. The episodes have no clear cut storyline or destination. At any given time he can go from an in depth discussion about corndog farming into a 4 minute shootout with an unknown enemy. This could be followed up by a 2 minute drum solo by Skillet if need be. The only tie between any two episodes is the constant search for alcohol and the conspiracy theory surrounding Fitz and the possible kidnapping of his family. If you're looking for a show with beginning, middle and end, this ain't it. But if you're looking for punchline-less laughs, 12 Oz is where you'll find em. This is the most addictive show to hit Adult Swim since Aqua Teen Hunger Force. The crude animation style and slow pace make it a perfect compliment to the sharp design and quick delivery of ATHF. Hopefully OzMo will remain a staple of the Adult Swim lineup.

This horrible show has no meaning. Anyone who watches will not get any moral value at all. This is a show for cocaine addicts on Adultswim just like PeeWee's Playhouse. If anyone finds a sort of artful meaning in this then you should be brought outside, beaten with an iron stick then thrown down a 90 ft cliff with barbed-wire at the bottom. Only someone mentally insane could find this show amusing. What sick minded fiend created this work of evil people call a show! Please take this off the air..for the love of god...whats happened to T.V....

    Your Friend, Demon57

P.S. My eyes still burn from watching the horrible show last night.

    Warning: Spoilers
12 oz mouse is an animated TV show about a mouse that suddenly awakes in a different reality, a place where everything is twisted and hostile. Through the episodes, Fitz remembers he once had a family and a job, but he was ripped from that life "for reasons he doesn't understand". As the series progresses, we discover more elements of the mystery surrounding our green mouse and we get to know what are the true intentions of each character inside that alternative reality.

More or less, that's what you would find in 12 oz mouse; of course it isn't as simple as it may sound because the show actually involves you to figure out the underlying plot as it introduces new concepts in each episode. Besides what I already mentioned, ozmo has enough space for comedy (mainly based on the dialogues), nice music, lots of action scenes, and well-developed characters. All those elements make 12 oz mouse feel more like a cinematographic experience rather than just a regular cartoon.

    1/10
    Awful
Adult Swim is notorious for producing and airing all sorts of terrible material for the sake of getting a kick out of trolling television viewers. A practice that continues years after the cessation of the broadcast of 12 oz. Mouse. That said, 12 Oz. Mouse remains particularly memorable for me as one of the worst things I have ever bothered watching.

Fans argue the show has depth and meaning and that its humor is an acquired taste....

...Color me blind for not seeing it.

    Terribly animated.

    Terrible voice acting.

If any of the characters had any semblance of personality (they don't) they would all possess the personality of someone who spends all of their free time smoking marijuana.

This show is about as humorous as elevator music...elevator music that isn't even played ironically. And that's pretty much the entire soundtrack with the exception of the theme song.

On a related note, I do admit that the opening theme was amazing. What followed was just total nonsense.

    Warning: Spoilers
The misadventures of Fitz, a drunken green mouse with lots of guns, a jet car, and a really bad attitude. His boss is a shark who sits behind a desk, his sidekick Skillet is a photo-realistic kangaroo mouse of some kind, and the one girl he makes out with in a bar turns into a man and blasts of like a rocket ship. If you like sane TV shows, this isn't for you.

The Adultswim crew have always produced shows that put substance over style in order to entertain those of us that are sick of watching today's Mtv-inspired style-based TV shows. Oz Mo is no exception to this.

The whole show seems like it was written and directed by drunken 4 year olds with acute untreated ADHD on near-fatal amounts of hallucinogens. It's definitely like nothing you've ever seen before and I'm loving every minute of it!

I remember as a kid loving this show. I loved the action. I loved the comedy. I loved the story that was hard to follow. I even loved the awkward, stupid, somewhat boring parts like when The Eyeball is just making puns based around the word "eye".

This was a short running show, I think it only laster one or two seasons, not that it was cancelled, it just had a final episode and that was it. For the most part the show was an action, and a comedy, but put little emphasis on either. It was mostly just dialogue that sounded like the voice actors were high and, for me, usually either intrigued me about the story (which wasn't really there until half way through the series), or was genuinely funny. And despite just how boring it seemed I was never really bored. I guess it's kinda like being high on pot.

In the second half of the series there's a more emphasis on story and action, the story is hard to follow because you can't get it from what you see considering that the show was made up of shitty drawings. All the story is really presented in character dialogue, which, for the incredibly small budget the show had, was pretty good. It goes into more detail about Fitz's (the mouse) past and what the show's mobsters (a stick guy, a talking pink box with sunglasses, and the shark from sealab 2020) are planning to do to the city (which pretty much results in the intro sequence).

All I can really say is that if you can get with, or like the bad drawings, bad animation, character dialogue, strange comedy style, strange action sequences, hard to follow story, and sex shifting manwoman you should have a great time with the show. It's more or less meant for every episode to be watched (in order of course) which shouldn't be hard considering it's more like an episodic movie than a TV series (it's a short series).

I'd normally give it an 8, but I'm gonna go ahead and give it a 10 for nostalgia.

The first time I saw this cartoon was episode 1, and I had no idea what I what I was getting myself into - I had never seen the show before.

I'm not a big cartoon person, but my cable company had it on their shows that you could pick from and watch... I found this cartoon under comedy, and cried I was laughing so hard... It's comedy is very subtle and a lot of it's humor is in its timing. This was one of the funniest things I have seen in a very long time.

I will definitely seek out more episodes. And it's just as funny the second or third time that you see it.

The show itself is very primitive cartoon figures with quirky personalities, with story lines that make you go "huh? Did he just do what I think he did?" and laughing your a** off. I really think it's just one of those things you have to see for yourself - and if you have a dry sense of humor, you'll really like it. It's probably a love it or hate it type of cartoon.
  • .....I don't even know where to begin...Let me try here: THIS SHOW IS SHOCKINGLY LAZY WITH A CAPITAL L! The quality of the design truly looks like it was done by a 4 year old if even that! If that wasn't bad enough, the animation is so stiff and choppy that virtually anyone in the world could've done it!

The writing is filled with...nothingness! The writing is sheer nothingness!!! It lacks in everything! There's things in it that..I THINK are supposed to be jokes? I'm not sure.

You'd think this show was a made as a joke, but it wasn't! It was a legitimate show made as legitimate content! There's nothing redeeming about this show! I swear this show was made by 2 people: 2 drunk interns on their 1st day with no experience or talent in animation nor writing at all other than grade school!

this is one of funniest shows I have ever watched in the history of television. we're talking about lots of beer, burgling, gun battles, and a frozen hand. the pilot had me collapsed on the floor, laughing my eyes out of their sockets. this is even better than aqua teen. i mean, it actually has a story to it! How can anyone doubt the greatness of Matt m and dave w. i know a lot of you are hating on this masterpiece, but come on, people who are sophisticated need not apply. you can take your quasi-intellectual superiority to Canada...or even farther. i cannot wait for next season. so many questions left unanswered. dedicated fans are just going to have to wait.
