NEW YORK -- Truly Indie, 2929 Entertainment's new filmmaker-driven distribution program, will bring 51 Birch Street to theaters in select cities nationwide. The feature, which premiered at last year's Toronto International Film Festival and has played 25 more festivals since then, follows writer-director Doug Block's search after his mother's death for the unsettling truth about his parents' marriage. Block produced the project with Lori Cheatle, executive producer Sheila Nevins of HBO Documentary Films and John and Ed Priddy of Priddy Brothers Entertainment. Using Truly Indie's distribution service, the filmmakers have decided on an Oct. 18 New York release and will work with Truly Indie to plan subsequent bookings of their choice in Los Angeles and other cities.
