Who Almost Played the Dark Knight?

It's tough to picture anyone other than Christian Bale as Batman in Christopher Nolan's trilogy, but plenty of other actors were considered. See who they were.

Who did Bale beat for Batman?

Trivia

Bruce Wayne wears a new Batsuit in the film. This Batsuit was an improvement on the outfit from Batman Begins (2005), and made Christian Bale more comfortable and agile in his performance. It was constructed from two hundred unique pieces of rubber, fiberglass, metallic mesh, and nylon (producing an impression of sophisticated technology), with elastic banding added for tightening the costume to fit Bale. The gauntlets had their razors made retractable and able to be fired. The suit's cowl was based on a motorcycle helmet and separated from the neck piece, allowing Bale to move his head left/right/up/down, and comes equipped with white eye lenses for when Batman turns on Bat-sonar.

Quotes

Grumpy: Three of a kind, let's do this!
Chuckles: Huh, that's it? Three guys?
Grumpy: Plus two guys on the roof. Every guy gets a share. Five shares is plenty.
Chuckles: *Six* shares. Don't forget the guy who planned the job.
Grumpy: He thinks he can sit it out and still take a slice? I know ...

Goofs

(at around 1h 35 mins) After the explosion at the warehouse, a fire hose is seen playing a jet of water from side to side across the top of the burning rubble. While this looks very pretty, a professional firefighter would never do this. They would concentrate the water at the base of the fire then work their way slowly across the blaze.

Crazy Credits

The DC logo contains two comic-book images: a shot of the Riddler, and picture of Batman punching him out.

Alternate Versions

The Blu-ray version of the movie has several of the big action scenes and high altitude photography scenes in ordinary 16:9 (1.78:1) widescreen ratio while the rest of the movie preserves the "scope" format (2.39:1). This is because these scenes were filmed in IMAX, whose format is 1.44:1, thus attempting to recreate the effect witnessed in IMAX theatres, as well as preserving as much of these shots as possible.
