  • OK, i'm a fair guy, the opening title was true, this show does make me want to vomit myself to anorexia because it's using something thats overused. bratz. seriously, people are now using the last 3 letters of the alphabet to make shows, Bratz, Trollz, winx, what the hell?

So in staying with the good points of the show, it does have good morals. the 4 main chicks are ones that care about fashion, but also care about other people...even their rivals, the 2 tweebles. or i think thats what they're called. anyways, the tweebles are greedy, jealous, down right brats (thats what the show should be based on, the real brats) and they don't care about anyone but themselves. thats right! they don't even care about each other...and one of them always has a bandage over her nose. and they're under the authority of some woman who runs a rival magazine, because the main 4 bratz run their magazine, and try to have stories worth reading.

So, folks, i can't say it's bad or good, if you're a girl you'll say it's good, but if you're of my species, the male human species, you'll probably say it's bad.

But watch it for yourself. see for yourself.
  • I had to watch 'Bratz' for a pop culture class and was completely appalled by it. It shows young girls that it is okay to be superficial, slutty, vain, and stupid. Any parent who would purchase this for young girls disgusts me. Not only is it completely devoid of any positive role models, it is also not in the least entertaining. It was physically painful to watch all of the random, awkward statements from horribly under-developed characters. The situations are unoriginal and uninspired (i.e. 'everything goes wrong for prom night, but it all turns out okay in the end'). This show should be avoided by adults and children alike.
  • I understand that this is a cartoon and that it is meant for kids and all but is it actually meant for the ages 7+? I don't how other kids are being raised but I know for certain that when I was in the first grade the only shows I watched was Dragon-tales, Rocket Power, Blues Clues, Rugrats, Power Rangers, you know shows that didn't promote "sex" as if kids needed to know about it. Now I'm not saying that this show openly shares that but they definitely don't shy around making out. I would rate this higher if the age range on this show could be changed to at least a 11+ show or something cause the last thing I need is for my little sisters to grow up thinking that a boyfriend is needed to be cool, or that skimpy outfits are "cute". But that's just my opinion so don't get mad at me.
  • Exactly like as was said in my review for 'Trollz' (dislike that show too), 'Bratz' was a show watched back when it first aired, back when CBBC was on the BBC for a couple of hours on weekday teatimes (like CBeebies in the morning and CITV on ITV, and when educational shows and weekend morning cartoons were still being aired on BBC and ITV).

Like 'Trollz', 'Bratz' left me indifferent initially but still stuck with it to see whether it would get better (like a lot of shows do after rocky starts) but to no avail. Giving it a fair chance as a young adult, as a fan of animation and as somebody who always watches something judging it for what it is and aims to be and takes target audience into account, 'Bratz' fares even worse. Not only notice the same flaws as when viewing it as a 13 year old, except even worse (such as the bad animation, writing and storytelling), but being an older person even more flaws are more apparent that went over my head somewhat when younger.

Saying that it is just a cartoon is a ridiculous, weak excuse for defending a show, as is saying it's a kids show (no, animation is for family, meaning kids and adults alike, and it also implies that kids have bad taste and intelligence which is far from the truth). Oh and the 'Tom and Jerry' comparison from personal opinion is an unfair and redundant one, 'Tom and Jerry' was violent but so were Looney Tunes, Tex Avery and Droopy cartoons, except they were extremely high quality, actually entertaining, had good characters, used the violence imaginatively and without bad taste (apart from the sadistic Gene Deitch 'Tom and Jerry' output), had good voice acting and weren't excuses for promoting and marketing toy lines, like 'Bratz' and 'Trollz' do. Just my outlook.

Back to 'Bratz', it isn't irredeemable but there is still very little to like about it. It did try to have some good morals (if not original or well-delivered ones, but the intent was there) and there are relevant and easy to relate to issues here (do think anybody can relate to being worried about sitting exams for example, especially if it's for a subject they usually flunk). That's pretty much the only credit one can give for a soulless, shallow, poorly made show that has nothing educational or anything of substance and not even a solid surface.

For CGI, while it's not the worst there has ever been, have said many times what the main offenders are so won't reiterate, it's still very poor. Flat textures, unnatural stiff movement, blocky character designs, backgrounds devoid of any life, colours that veer on the too bright and things out of focus and blurry. The music is very little different to the sort of music one hears in the charts today, very generic stuff and cheap.

It's written awfully as well. That it was cliché-ridden wasn't so big an issue. Bigger issues were that it was forced, was very vapid and not just makes one cringe it makes one feel dumber. The arguments and banter and such are so over-heated and cheesy. The stories suffer from a complete lack of originality or imagination, and continually do nothing fresh with old ideas, lack lustre and are so flimsy narratively that their short running times feel too long.

Any attempts, like 'Trollz', at morals and messaging is over-shadowed significantly by the negative, unoriginal and done-to-death stereotyping, and the constant negativity and dubious messaging leaves a bad taste at times. The characterisation very rarely goes beyond predictable stereotypes and negative ones, with constant condescending snobbery. There have been complaints about the appearances of the characters and the way they behave and dress and while not a prude that criticism is understandable if younger audiences look to their characters for role models, and as role models the characters are unhealthy ones.

The main villain Burdine Maxwell is not much of one at all, nothing amusing, nothing to present any kind of proper conflict and nothing interesting, and their motives and schemes are as lame as one could possibly get. The secondary villains are no better, resorting to extreme measures for trivial reasons (i.e. dog-napping to get rid of the competition). The rest of the characters don't register. The frequent whining that passes for voice acting comes over as irritating.

In summary, poorly written, soulless, shallow and annoying, lives up to its name to a tee. 2/10 Bethany Cox
  • I'm giving this a 10 stars because it was always my fave thing ever but the more I watch it the more I realise it's probably more aimed at teens. I think the episodes were also rushed a bit because I notice a lot of mistakes like the wrong voices used for the wrong characters or one minute they have a hat on the next minute they don't. But who cares, it's so bad that it's good. I will always love it.
  • This show is iconic, hilarious, and so entertaining. I'd suggest it to literally anyone. It's definetely not trying to make kids perfect little angels, and it knows that. It's not promoting anything to children, even though it's technically "made for kids". People expect every children's show to have amazing role models, but newsflash, not all fo them do. Anyway, I love this show, and watch it if you haven't already.
  • Bratz is great! It has catchy music and fun concepts. And the voice acting is full of talent!

The second season disappointed me. The stories were dull and the voice acting was okay. I didn't like that they changed the characters so much from the first season.

My favorite episodes were Camping and Crush in a Rush. I loved getting to see Eitan and Yasmin. And the Camping episode with Dylan and Cameron made me laugh so much.

Bratz needs to make more seasons!
  • That means riddled with caricatures, clichés and stereotypes. It is NOT a reflection on reality. I can't believe some of the reviews I'm reading. This is a bad influence on young girls? Does Tom and Jerry encourage children to chase mice and whack them with a mallet? Stop being so silly! I'll admit I didn't like the concept of this when it first came out, what can possibly be entertaining watching 4 spoiled rich American girls moan and use snobbish expressions, but now it is 2015 I can look back and laugh. Kids used to dress in really revealing clothing in the 2000s and adults all over were whining about it when they were doing anything wrong.

And I disagree that they are brainless bimbos as other reviewers have said because on the show I watched today titled "Bratz Slumber Party" one of the girls was concerned about her chemistry exam. I think this means the show is actually a positive influence on children, showing them girls who juggle schoolwork, boys and everything else without ditching one for the other.
  • I used to watch this show every Saturday morning before ABC played One Saturday Morning (Bratz aired at like 6 am, and One Saturday Morning started around 8). It was seriously my favorite cartoon for years. When I bought the Rock Angelz GameCube game, it brought me right back. I wish I could find this show and watch it all over again!
  • These big headed girls, make me feel better about my big face. i was bullied throughout my schooling about it and this breathtakingly beautiful piece of work saved me life. brought me back up again when i was falling through snow whites well in a dream i had last night. i love how their feet can come off and i was like yeet. and the animation is just as amazing as foodfight 2012. its my mums favourite film but this show NEVER lets me down. i feel impowered by these young dolls and aspire to be them. this is the really juice out there.

    as seen on diney +

    thank you for listening.xx

I am actually in complete disbelief over these reviews! Bratz is an awesome show, sure it has it's flaws but it's a typical 2000s cartoon! What do you expect? There are CGI glitches and mistakes, the characters are all skinny, it doesn't touch on all of the problems that insecure young girls face, but back then.. that was normal! They just started a new tiktok series called Talkin Bratz with some of the same voice actors and i'm sure that they will touch on things like that now that our society is more "woke" about that kind of stuff. The tiktok series made Dylan darker, to show that he is black so that's a great start, I love how the Bratz represent different ethnicities! The Bratz Pack inspired me as a kid to be who I am, wear what I feel comfortable in and that it is possible to balance school, boys, friendships and so on! This show is my childhood and I will always love it, I don't understand why you would be so hard on it? It's fun.

However, I do agree that Season 1 is way better than Season 2 but I like them both. The original voice actors from season 1 suited the characters more. I think season 2 was done in Vancouver, Canada (where i'm from!!!) because it seems all of the voice actors are from Vancouver so that's pretty cool for me and makes me appreciate it a bit more :) Love this show and even though it's a typical 2000s cartoon, there are still some great messages in it! I would absolutely let my kids watch it.
  • I grew up with bratz and re-watched the bratz show in my 20s. The show is great but definitely geared towards preteen, teens and up. The bratz have awesome fashion sense but the most important thing about this show is its showing that teenagers can be successful business owners. I still enjoyed it as an adult and which they'd bring back another show/season. I know that their outfits are the reason this brand gets so much hate but as a kid and even now, but I think it's overblown and makes the series underrated. The other reviews can't get over this even though Barbie also wore short skirts at time. Bratz is diverse, the music is memorable, and was well ahead of it's time.
