But they all had to stretch their capabilities for a routine that involved complicated prop work using a ladder. There were some mishaps during rehearsals, with Browner getting banged up a bit and Phillip Chbeeb saying to the struggling contestants,...

“We’ve put 25 people through,” said judge Allison Holker at the start of the show. She singled out contemporary dancer Braylon Browner and gymnast Dakayla Wilson as standouts from the first two days of auditions. Comfort Fedoke agreed that Wilson is capable of anything a professional choreographer could throw at her. Maksim Chmerkovskiy was especially impressed by contemporary dancer Easton Magliarditi. But “there’s so many other things outside of dance that we’re also looking at.

Cat Deeley, longtime presenter of So You Think You Can Dance, has revealed details of her experience being caught up in a Los Angeles shopping mall shooting scare that made her want to leave her home in Hollywood and return to live in the UK.
The Sun newspaper reports that Deeley, about to take over hosting duties on ITV flagship daytime show This Morning, wanted to move away from the US after her family were caught in a shopping mall shooting in 2019.
The paper recounts how the presenter, her husband Paddy and young son Milo were forced to take cover during a lunch outing in a Shake Shack restaurant in Century City, Los Angeles. When sirens sounded, they were told to seek shelter after a disgruntled ex-Amazon employee. Deeley is quoted in The Sun remembering:
“Everyone was told to lie behind the counter or pushed into the loos. People were screaming and crying.

The ceremony will again be hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, and many former winners, including Jessica Lange, Matthew McConaughey and Rita Moreno, will be on hand to help hand out this year’s awards. The evening will also include what is probably going to go down as one of the weirdest musical numbers to be featured on the Oscar stage, as someone was able to talk three-time nominee Ryan Gosling into performing the memorable hit song “I’m Just Ken” from Greta Gerwig’s “Barbie.” So although there haven’t been too many surprises this awards season, meaning Sunday’s telecast might be...

Paula Abdul is speaking out via her legal team after the latest development in her lawsuit against Nigel Lythgoe.
The “Straight Up” pop star and American Idol judge sued the TV producer in December 2023, accusing him of sexual assault and harassment.

The “Straight Up” pop star and American Idol judge sued the TV producer in December 2023, accusing him of sexual assault and harassment.
At the time, he denied the claims in a statement. However, multiple other lawsuits have accused him of similar things. In early January, Nigel gave up his spot on the judging panel for So You Think You Can Dance.
On Tuesday (March 5), Nigel asked the courts to dismiss Paula‘s lawsuit. Court documents describe him as a “victim of Abdul’s appalling lies” and provided alleged text exchanges. It also alleged that the accusations had a “life-changing impact” on Nigel‘s life.
Paula responded via her legal team.

A day after Nigel Lythgoe called Paula Abdul a “fabulist” in response to her sexual assault complaint against him, the former American Idol judge accused him of “classic victim shaming.”
“Mr. Lythgoe’s answer to Ms. Abdul’s complaint is classic victim shaming,” read a statement from Abdul’s lawyers sent to Rolling Stone. “Mr. Lythgoe fails to appreciate that he held a position of power over Ms. Abdul. He was a producer on American Idol and Sytycd and she was the talent. He held the cards to her career...

American Idol producer Nigel Lythgoe has issued a furious denial in response to the recent lawsuit brought against him by Paula Abdul, in which she alleges Lythgoe sexually assaulted her on two separate occasions.
In new documents filed to the L.A. Superior Court on Tuesday, Lythgoe categorically refutes Abdul’s claims, and describes them as “false, despicable, intolerable, and life-changing…the worst form of character assassination.”
The filing stated, “[Abdul] is a pathological liar and attention seeker, with no apparent concern about consistently making contradictory representations. She invents stories and then she doubles down, always working to make herself appear the victim. Consistent with her past pattern of telling lies about incidents that allegedly happened to her, Abdul’s recent allegations against Lythgoe are pure fiction. There is only one victim here and that is Lythgoe, whose life and career have been decimated by Abdul’s lies.”

Updated, 1:58 Pm: Paula Abdul has broken her silence about Nigel Lythgoe’s scolding response of March 5 to her sexual assaults claims against the So You Think You Can Dance co-creator and judge.
“Mr. Lythgoe’s answer to Ms. Abdul’s complaint is classic victim shaming,” a statement today from the Grammy winner’s lawyers reads.
“These are the defenses that many women like Ms. Abdul had to adopt to deal with men who abuse their power,” the statement adds of texts and tweets Lythgoe peppered throughout his filing earlier this week to show what a good relationship he and Abdul had during some of same periods in which she alleges he assaulted her.
Abdul also shows in the statement that she has texts as well, showing cringe-y communications from American Idol producer Lythgoe – as you can see below:
