Experimental but sharp observation of a loss of first love
Mathieu, a twenty-something, went to Paris to study, but fell in love with Marc - his first real love, the first time another person meant anything to him. Suddenly Marc vanished, or better: seems to have left without prior notice. Mathieu is devastated, torn apart by the loss of this love.
This is where the narrative commences: Mathieu takes a video camera, which Marc left, and starts a video diary to document his feelings, his anger and helplessness. He throws himself into the Paris nightlife and thoughtless one-night-stands to forget about Marc - always with the camera on. He leaves Paris for a weekend to get away from it all, but feels drawn back. And he starts to search for possible reasons, why Marc might have left. He meets with Marc's mother, asks his friends about how they knew him.
The film is the video diary, most of the times taking Mathieus' point of view, unless he hands the camera to somebody else. Thus it has a no-budget-video-quality. However the acting is superb, Samuel Perche as Mathieu really gets the torn and tormented across. And Michel Olives has made a fine piece out of using the quest for Marc to really tell about a loss of first love.
