  • For those who enjoy a soap opera, Brazil is fertile ground, as the overwhelming majority of general TV channels in the country transmit, on average, four soap operas daily. Invariably, much of this material eventually goes around the world, being bought and broadcast in other countries. One of the most permeable markets for Brazilian teledramaturgy is, of course, my country, due to its cultural and linguistic proximity. I watched "Alma Gémea" at the premiere in Portugal in 2005, and again about six years later when it was reprised.

    The plot is based on the immortal love between a rich producer of roses, Rafael, and his late wife, Luna. Years after her death, he discovers that she reincarnated in the body of a young Indian, Serena, and decides to marry her to the hatred of Christina, who aspired to marry him in order to control his fortune. So far, the only truly new or different thing in this soap opera is the subject, always controversial, of reincarnation. I confess, it's not a dramatic feature that works out very well, at least with me, and I think the story could have been rethought so as not to include it, but that is my personal opinion. The soap opera works very well, harmoniously combining a somewhat melodramatic romance and a series of truly good humorous moments.

    Among the actors, I would like to say that this was probably the biggest and best opera soap of Priscila Fantin's career, which secured the leading role with great talent and sweetness. Flávia Alessandra was a compelling and hateful villain, but the fact that she constantly needed the advice of her mother, very well interpreted by the veteran Ana Lucia Torre, slightly affected her character sometimes. Eduardo Moscovis was well in the role of Rafael, but even better than he, in my opinion, was Emílio Orciollo Netto, who is responsible for the biggest slice of soap opera comedy moments. Still worthy of note are Luigi Baricelli, Fernanda Souza, Malvino Salvador, Elizabeth Savalla and Liliana de Castro.

    I watch this show everyday with my mom and I love it. It is funny and there are sad and shocking parts, too which make it so good. But also because of what it is about.It's about love, jealousy, and there are tricks being played. To those who may not know much about this show, it is about a girl who is mother, I believe, is in an Indian Tribe (Serena), and was born and raised there. And since she was little, she always saw things in the water. She saw roses. She never knew why until she was about 20 and ran from her village because it was being attacked. (I haven't seen much after but I know a little). She stayed with a rich family (Rafeal, his son, Felipe, and his late wife's cousin, Christina). Right when they met she felt like she already knew him and quickly fell in love with him. But about Rafeal, his wife died 20 years before...make a connection? I won't say anything more because I don't want to give anything away. But..It is filled with all different genres like suspense, of course drama, and comedy, and plenty of it. It's a great show to watch.
  • I watched one soap opera. The name is Alma Gêmea and I fell in love with soap operas lol. This soap opera is full of love, I also liked the belief that was shown in it, everything in this soap opera is perfect! I found the characters Serena and Luna very cute, the actresses who play Débora and Cristina were amazing! This soap opera is undoubtedly one of the best ever created, I became more of a fan of it than Turkish soap operas. The story seemed real, the actors are amazing, there's no way not to fall in love with this soap opera. The ending showing their fate was very different, but it was amazing.

    "The Voice of the Heart" (or "Soul Mate", literally translated from Portuguese) is a Brazilian telenovela, which was filmed in 2005. Script writers, Valsir Carrasco and Thelma Guedes, created tears touching and romantic story about True Love, over which no control nor the machinations of others, or even Death.

    The series begins in the 1920s in the city of Roseiral. There lives a wealthy entrepreneur, Raphael (Eduardo Moscovis), who owns plantations for growing roses and puts his Soul into his business. But most of all he wants to meet his True Love to find happiness. And soon he meets a ballerina named Luna (accent on the first syllable) (Liliana Castro), who recently arrived in the city.

    Further exciting developments the viewer will see himself while watching the telenovela. "The Voice of the Heart" is a series that covers topics such as:

    • reincarnation (Serena);

    • regressive hypnosis (sessions of Dr. Julian and his assistant Sabine with Serena);

    • obsession with spirits and struggle with this condition (Alessandra, wife of Dr. Eduardo);

    • supernatural phenomena and mysticism (a series of moments throughout the receives more superficial treatment);

    • opposition of materialistic worldview and supernatural phenomena (Dr. Eduardo, Agnes);

    • mediums and their abilities (Sabine, Alessandra);

    • the power of forgiveness and its impact on the person (Guto);

    • true sincere love (Raphael and Serena);

    • the betrayal (Raul vs Raphael, Raphael vs Christina, Deborah vs Raphael, Raul vs Dalilah etc.);

    • friendship (Serena and Jose, Serena and Eliu, Serena and Tere, Raphael and Eduardo, Raphael and Olivia, etc.);

    • racial prejudice (faced Eliu and Sabine);

    • emotional dependence on the verge of madness (Christina);

    • finding oneself, introspection, search for meaning in life and purpose (Serena).

    Among the actors I would like to say that this is probably the biggest and best role in the career of my beloved Priscila Fantin, who performed it with great talent and charm. Her character Serena is the Eternal Light of Love, the miracle of God on Earth.

    During the series, each character undergoes a certain transformation, which changes its personality, way of thinking, character, attitude to other people.

    Raphael is a kind, decent man. Sincere, loyal, yearning for his dead wife. But even he has a number of disadvantages. Raphael jealous, too trusting detractors (who desire Evil to him) and don't believes friends (who wish him Good). This is due to the fact that he does not believe in human meanness, because he is honest. He simply does not believe that someone is able to deceive him, to wish him harm, so he ignores all warnings. In addition, Raphael did not love his wife Luna for her Soul (as he thought), but rather for her elegance, beauty, manner to look good, possession of etiquette, her creative talents. And Raphael, in my opinion, were the following tasks throughout the series: 1) to understand who his real friends and who are enemies; 2) to learn to trust his Love; 3) to stop trying to find in Serena his dead wife Luna and to remake here in the likeness of Luna, and take it in a new way, with new habits and experiences; 4) to acquire the ability to appreciate Serena's kind heart and her spiritual beauty, not superficial (etiquette, manners, the ability to walk on heels and dress like a lady); 5) to consider her unique personality; 6) to love Serena's Soul really, without any conventions.

    Serena is a sincere, open, kind girl with a pure Heart. She is generous, merciful, and has pride and self-respect. As the image of Luna (her past life) she was provided a hassle-free life and almost didn't grief (except some events), in the form of Serena, she was forced to undergo a series of tests, which tempered her character, made her a really strong spirit person, brave and noble. In the new life the girl was born in an Indian tribe, therefore, has acquired the wisdom of its people and the valuable knowledge that has helped her in many aspects of life. Serena's spiritual growth is clearly tracked throughout the series.

    Christina is a beautiful, insidious, determined girl who from her early youth is unrequited in love with Raphael. Her love was so strong that she gave her soul to the Devil for the opportunity to get this man (as well as his wealth) at any cost. Her love was transformed into a mad obsession, a passion of wild power that took over Christina's mind. The pain of the rejected woman, resentment, injustice, despair, bitterness, unbearable suffering - these reasons served as the starting point of Christina's behavior and her evil deeds. This girl had two ways: to overcome the bitterness and resentment in her soul, to leave the house of Raphael and find her happiness or to seek Raphael at any cost, no matter what. Christina chose the second way, although it was destructive.

    Guto is a criminal who has served time in prison, who in his own way loves Christina and helps her in all her atrocities, because he hopes that she will stay with him. Guto's love is rather a thirst for possession, because he is not sufficiently developed spiritually to understand the essence of true love. At first he makes an unpleasant and repulsive impression, but the founded forgiveness changes everything for him....

    If you want to have a good time, enjoy a beautiful romantic telenovela about True Love, which overcomes any obstacles and even Death, then I recommend you to watch "The Voice of the Heart". Also, the series will be interesting to people who believe in reincarnation or have ever encountered in life with supernatural phenomena. Perhaps the situation in which the characters fall, will help you open your eyes to some things or give the opportunity to resolve certain issues. I must admit that I discovered this series quite by accident, but it was very relevant to me for many reasons. And today, after watching the last episode, I am ready to say that now "The Voice of the Heart" has become one of my favourite Brazilian TV series.

    Thanks to the writers, actors, directors and producers for their Titanic work and for creating such a Beautiful Film! This series warmed my Soul.
