Papa is away at the front, in this short film, and writes home to his wife and child. Meanwhile, an uncle brings the child a set of lead soldiers, and while the adults read a letter from the front, the child plays with the soldiers. Later, when he sleeps, the soldiers fight in a battle.

It's mostly a live-action short, with a couple of minutes of stop-action animation. It seems a bit depressed for a children's movie, but the war had been ongoing for a couple of years by this point, and would not end for an equal length of time.
