This March, Hulk writer Greg Pak and artist Carlo Barberi (All New X-Men) will unleash a totally new chapter in Incredible Hulk #714 with World War Hulk II, bringing Amadeus Cho back to earth. But Amadeus has changed during his time on Sakaar – since his face-to-face meeting with Bruce Banner in Generations, Amadeus has had to wrestle with the true nature of his alter ego’s brutality and what it means for the world.
Now, unchained and unbridled, the former Totally Awesome Hulk is ready to take matters into his own hands. And as characters such as Black Panther and members of the Champions and Alpha Flight will learn, no one is prepared for what he will unleash on the Marvel Universe!
“What follows Planet Hulk II?” asks Executive Editor and Svp Tom Brevoort. “World War Hulk II, of course! To survive on the savage world of Sakaar, Amadeus Cho was...

The Weapon X program has done it, at the cost of their own destruction: they’ve completed their biggest and most dangerous experiment yet, a hybrid of Hulk and Wolverine DNA known as Weapon H. Now, he’s ready to take on the world – and he means business. Following his debut in Totally Awesome Hulk and Weapon X ‘s “Weapon of Mutant Destruction” summer crossover, Marvel have announced that the character will star in a new ongoing series coming in March from Totally Awesome Hulk/Weapon X writer Greg Pak and X-Men: Blue artist Cory Smith.
“Greg Pak wrote one of the biggest and most action packed Hulk stories ever in Planet Hulk…so it only made sense that he brought those same sensibilities to Weapon H,” said series editor Darren Shan. “We’re going to pit him against the biggest threats of the Marvel Universe that you can imagine,...

It’s that time of the month again to go through all comics laced with more than a hint of adamantium.
Generations: All New Wolverine/Wolverine
Writer: Tom Taylor | Artist: Ramon Rosanas | Colourist: Nolan Woodward | Letters: Cory Petit
When the ‘Generations’ one shots were announced in conjunction with the upcoming Legacy initiative by Marvel it was assumed a few currently dead heroes would be returning to the fold and this would be the jump on point. I don’t know if the premise for these one shots was set up elsewhere as picking up just one like I did is a little confusing to start with. Right away I can say without it feeling like a spoiler this has nothing to do with 616 Wolverine returning. It has to do with Laura going back in time to visit Wolverine in his prime and that’s where its confusing. But that doesn...

All New Wolverine #22
Writer: Tom Taylor | Artist: Leonard Kirk | Inks: Cory Hamscher | Colours: Michael Garland & Erick Arciniega | Letters: Joe Sabino
Laura continues her journey into the larger Marvel Universe this issue teaming with everyone’s favourite space adventurers The Guardians Of The Galaxy. This is a new story arc that follows directly on from the previous ‘Immune’ arc. However there is enough information given to easily pick this issue up and enjoy it without having read the previous three. I can’t stress enough how much of a fan of three issue story arcs I am. I think I have mentioned it in every review so far. With all the guests stars that have appeared in the series so far Taylor does a brilliant job of keeping voices unique.

Hello again, and welcome to the recently resurrected Panel Discussion. I’m Kieran, and every week I’m going to go through some of the best comics of the week to give you an idea what you should pick up that you might have missed. This is another stacked week with some fantastic first issues and great jumping on points for books you might be behind on, so let’s take a look at what’s on offer.
In terms of big debuts, this week’s runaway hit is Kyle Starks and Gabo’s Dead of Winter #1 from Oni Press. Now, I have absolutely no idea about the franchise this is based on, I believe it’s a board game? However, this debut issue gives you everything you need to know which is namely 1) There are zombies and 2) There’s a dog that really hates zombies. I think we all...

For the past few months, Marvel has been setting up something big with their Weapons of Mutant Destruction crossover storyline. Teasing labs working on what appears to be a Hulk with claws. Now we finally have a look at what appears to be the monster that is Weapon H.
First off, some background and what we know has happened so far in the series. Many participants of Weapon X have been hunted by the new Weapon X program to be involved in a new project involving the Hulk. The good Reverend Stryker has been behind the project and has been taking willing participants to become new weapons that are untraceable to hunt down the participants. These old projects include such well-known mutants as Lady Deathstrike, Domino, Sabretooth, Old Man Wolverine, Warpath, as well as the gamma irradiated monster known as the Hulk. This leads to a team up with the...

It’s that time of the month again to go through all comics laced with more than a hint of adamantium. This month I will bring you up to speed on the previous three issues of Weapon X, All New Wolverine #20-#21 and then review the first issue from the new creative team on Old Man Logan #25. Before I get into the reviews I must apologise for not giving proper credits for the books I reviewed last month, so that will be rectified from here on in.
Weapon X #2-#4
Writer: Greg Pak | Artist: Greg Land/Ibraim Roberson | Inks: Jay Leisten | Colours: Frank D’Armata | Letters: Joe Caramagna
The second and third issues of this series have a certain feel of the writer following a paint by numbers. That being said I am enjoying the series thus far, but because of the characters involved and the concept of Weapon X always appeals to me.

If you’ve been keeping up with the recent happenings at Marvel, then you’re well aware of Generations, an upcoming endeavor consisting of ten one-shots uniting heroes who have adopted various mantles, both past and present. In other words, expect to see team-ups featuring the likes of Wolverines Laura Kinney and Logan, and even Thors Odinson and Jane Foster.
What’s more is that we recently discovered this seemingly standalone tale will, in fact, have some sort of intertwining with Secret Empire, the House of Ideas’ currently in progress major crossover event. Sure, we probably won’t know all of the specifics until the actual periodicals ship, but it remains clear that something called “the Vanishing Point” is the reasoning for these otherwise anachronistic team-ups.

Just days ago, we previewed some of the first issues to be included in this mammoth crossover, so we can fully understand why retailers have seemingly already bought up all copies of one of the prelude chapters, Totally Awesome Hulk #19, and why it’s already scheduled for a second printing.
As is the case with any crossover of this sort, desperate times call for desperate measures – not to mention strange bedfellows – as Amadeus Cho is forced to team up with the likes of Old Man Logan, Sabretooth, Domino, Warpath, and Lady Deathstrike to battle the new Weapon X. Written by Greg Pak with art by Robert Gill and Nolan Woodard, this opening salvo is guaranteed to deliver giant-sized action with loads of intrigue.

Seeing as how DC had amazed us with its recent Injustice 2 prequel comic, it pleases us to learn that Marvel is also dipping its toe into the video game tie-in pool. Sure, they aren’t doing a full-blown tie-in series of their own – something we’re hoping they consider for the future – but their announcement of a generous helping of Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite variant covers is most definitely a step in the right direction.
So, before you pick up the next installment in the popular fighting game franchise this September, be sure to stop by your local comic shop all throughout August in order to get your hands on the various participating titles. Alright, Marvel, calm down. We get it. There's a Hulk-Wolverine Hybrid Coming. The two most dangerous beings in the Marvel Universe are combining to create something crazy. I don't mind the teasing, but if you are gonna keep teasing at least give us something more.

But as of what is going on, or why wolverhulk exists, we have very little knowledge. This new image tweeted by editor-in-chief Axel Alonso, has just a hulk fist with wolverine claws coming out of them. To be honest, it reminds me of the Hulk hands you can buy at Walmart and then someone just got some Wolverine claws and put them on top of it.

So about a month ago, we all were shown an interesting image of a Hulk looking thing with Wolverine looking claws in a test tube. Well, some new light has been shown on what many are calling 'Hulkverine". That sounds terrible. Please say they get a better name for it.
Anyway, the largest mystery was who or what this creature is considering Banner is dead and original Wolverine is dead. Now granted, this could be some weird resurrection cult. In a different issue of comics, namely Uncanny Avengers some ninjas from the Fist which is like a weird offshoot of the Hand stole Bruce Banner's body and tried bringing him back to life as a Hulk Ninja. Ya. Kindof the worst combo in the world. Take what is quite possibly the Worst stealth character in Marvel and make him a ninja. That's like turning Spiderman into a responsible adult.

A few weeks back, Marvel dropped a mysterious image depicting a Hulk/Wolverine hybrid that caused fans and journalists alike to speculate what the nature of it was and if it could possibly be tying into any of the upcoming X-Men books. Well, today we know that to partially be true as the House of Ideas have officially pulled back the curtain on Weapons of Mutants Destruction.
Here’s the skinny: This June, Marvel will launch a six-issue crossover involving Totally Awesome Hulk and Weapon X. There have always been African-American characters but, over this past decade, the House of Ideas has massively expanded its number of Asian-Americans in prominent roles. The latest issue of Totally Awesome Hulk showcases these characters in a new story arc that brings together Marvel’s Asian-American heroes into one crime-fighting team.
Namely, that’s Kamala Khan Aka Miss Marvel, Cindy Moon alias Silk, Kung Fu master Shang-Chi, Atlas/S.H.I.E.L.D. agents Jimmy Woo and Jake Oh and, of course, the totally awesome Hulk himself, Amadeus Cho. A couple of these people date back decades, but most of the characters are only a few years old, so it’s great that things have now got to the stage that Marvel can form an all-Asian-American squad – the first one ever...

This March is Marvel's Venom variant month, and thanks to Cbr we have a look at the first four covers in the series. We've seen the symbiote attach itself to plenty of different characters over the years of course, but here we have "Venomized" versions of the all-new Wolverine, Amadeus Cho's Hulk, Steve Rogers, and finally Squirrel Girl's little pal, Tippy-Toe. The covers feature artwork by Francesco Mattina (All-New Wolverine #18), Tom Raney (Captain America: Steve Rogers #13), Mike Choi (Totally Awesome Hulk #17), and Kate Leth (Unbeatable Squirrel Girl #18). ...

With Marvel’s comic booking being all over the place these days, it’s hard for me to get excited for any of their titles. “Robbie Reyes Ghost Rider” happened to be one of the few that I could not wait to pick up mainly because I personally love the idea of a haunted car as well as a Hispanic hero/anti-hero. The book does a decent job at re-introducing us to the character without going too much into detail, although it does give us a pretty detailed look at Robbie’s relationship with Gabe. Which to me is done to show you how Robbie is able to stay balanced, Gabe representing the good and his Uncle Eli’s spirit the bad. I enjoyed the small bit where Ghost Rider saves the family who apparently already know him as “La...

Marvel has released several pieces of variant cover art for the upcoming new comic book series Monsters Unleashed! I'm really pumped up about this series, and I think the team working on it at Marvel is going to pump out some pretty fun monster stories.
The series was previously described as featuring "a massive, simultaneous attack on the Marvel Universe by all of these monsters." Now we have an official description that breaks it all down for you:
Raining down from the skies, rising from the depths of the oceans and emerging from beneath the very Earth itself – monsters are invading, destroying everyone and everything in their path! The only thing that stands in their way is an army of the strongest superheroes in the Marvel Universe! But even they may not be enough to stop these towering titans! It’s all happening in Monsters Unleashed as the Avengers, the Guardians of the Galaxy,...

This Friday, Netflix debuts the new show from Marvel, Luke Cage. With that, I wanted to check out the origin of the character. He’d always been someone who fascinated me but his origins were always clouded in a bit of a mystery. He wasn’t exactly a character on the level of Spider-Man that would constantly get the origin story retold.
We can thank the creation of Luke Cage on a little phenomenon called Blaxploitation films. Take a movie like Shaft. It showed Hollywood that one, there was a market for films directed at African American audiences and two, it was one of the first times we had African Americans of any sort starring in films where they were the strong, dominant leads.
One thing I wasn’t aware of was that the character of Luke Cage started off with a different name. He was originally Carl Lucas. Carl...

This Week in Marvel Unlimited, I had a whole reading list planned. I was diving into the world of Howard the Duck. Then I saw this.
8/8/1961 was the debut of the first issue of Fantastic Four, starting what became the Marvel Universe. (According to Tom Brevoort from Marvel, the date listed on the comics at that time were an indication to newsstand owners when to take the issue in question off newsstands. The comics were delivered three months before, hence the August debut.) The fact this wasn’t a big deal is a little sad but anyone with a cursory knowledge of the Marvel movie rights knows why.
I won’t claim to be a big Fantastic Four fan yet to deny their impact would be foolish. Without them, there would be no Spider-Men, no Hulk, no Iron Man, no X-Men. The work on Fantastic Four brought us the amazing...

Disclaimer: This editorial contains spoilers for Issues 1 & 2 of the Marvel crossover event, Civil War II.
In the words of singer Edwin Star, “War! What is it good for? Aboslutely noth’n”. This is exactly how I feel about the “Civil War” going within the Marvel Universe right now. Why would I feel that way? What can make me believe that a follow up companywide crossover to one of the biggest storylines for Marvel is “good for noth’n”? Well there quite a few reasons for such a conclusion, but first a little background on how Marvel works for those unaware.
Each year the great editors and writers of Marvel go off to a “retreat” where tons of ideas, plots, and concepts and just about anything for the company are discussed. This not so secret retreat has been going on for quite a few years with much of the focus apparently...

The connection between Netflix’s supernatural drama “Stranger Things” and the Totally Awesome ’80s has already been well documented. And now one fan has taken things a step further and re-imagined the series as an ’80s sitcom, stripping away all of the spooky stuff in favor of a wacky, laugh track-ready montage that would fit right in tucked between “Full House” and “Perfect Strangers.” The choice of Randy Newman’s “Strange Things” as a theme song for the reinvented series is a nice touch, too. I was finally engaged with Marvel’s crossover event Civil War II and they lured me in just as they planned to, by doing some big twist that defines the event. Fans of the first Marvel Comics Civil War know that these event series as have a big moment that divides our comic book universe heroes even further. In the first Civil War, Reed Richards created a clone of Thor (called Ragnarok, which is what made your Googling difficult when Thor: Ragnarok was announced) that blasted a hole through a character called Goliath’s chest, killing him.
Back at the Marvel retreat where the brain trust planned which character would die during Civil War II, the NY Daily News had a reporter on site to document the process. From what that article told us, they knew they wanted a hero to die by the hands of another hero. When this is teased,...

Print is a dying breed. Newspapers and magazines are seeing subscriber numbers dwindle in the wake of the digital revolution. Why should folks pay for a physical copy of a publication that may not survive the wrath of a poorly trained paperboy or a malicious mailman when they can get the same content on their mobile device?
Comic book companies, while still selling pretty consistently, are finding ways to adjust to the changing ways folks buy their products. Marvel Comics stands out with their Marvel Unlimited app. For $9.99 a month or $69 a year, subscribers have access to over 17,000 comics and counting. New comics hit every Monday. Comics that are on sale at your local comic book store today will hit Unlimited about six months after they hit shelves. Marvel Unlimited is a great tool for folks that want to dive into the Marvel Universe, yet are hesitant due to not knowing where to start reading.

Totally Awesome Hulk #6
Story: Greg Pak Art: Mike Choi Colors: Andrew Crossley
Review: Greg Pak turns in another fun chapter in the “Chulks” life, as Amadeus experiences the fun “misunderstanding/fight/team up against villain” encounter with Thor. Last issue Hulk was brainwashed into doing something pretty bad for Enchantress and now he must make things right. The story loosely ties into the struggles Thor is going through in her own book at the moment with Malekith nicely, and I enjoyed the continuity there. Mike Choi continues to deliver some absolutely spectacular art and really is a stand out to keep an eye on, along with the beautiful colors by Andrew Crossley. The series continues to be entertaining and nice departure from the old “Hulk Smash” story lines.

Review:
Not to sound too cliché, but Totally Awesome Hulk is Totally Awesome! It’s been a long time since The Hulk has been a fun character. He’s great for big action sequences, but almost since Planet Hulk it has been one tragic story after the next. With Amadeus Cho now being the big green goliath, a new fresh sense of energy has been brought to the book...

Comic book reviewers these days can be so fickle. There’s one review on a comic site regarding this week’s Totally Awesome Hulk where the reviewer can’t seem to make his mind up about Bruce Banner. Despite identifying with Bruce Banner, he goes on saying, “I don’t think he’s needed in the Marvel Universe anymore” and then adds “Kids will always want to be the Hulk, but no kid has ever wanted to be Bruce Banner because of his anger issues.” This review was patronising, and of course it was a slap in the face of Hulk fans, especially one who commented on a forum “Kids are scared of Hulk Because of Banner. And that no kid ever wanted to be Banner; sorry, some of us did!
