Naruto's Sasuke Sequel Reveals The Craziest Shinobi Technique
Image
Warning: Spoilers for chapter #6-2 of Naruto: Sasuke's Story - The Uchiha and the Heavenly Stardust

Sasuke's Story, the Naruto sequel centered on Sasuke and Sakura's adventure in the land of Redaku, debuts one of the most absurd shinobi techniques ever seen in the franchise. The villain of the series, Zansul, uses one of the most powerful forbidden ninjutsu, Edo Tensei (Impure World Reincarnation), to bring back to life a group of dinosaur fossils.

Edo Tensei is one of the most iconic Naruto techniques, which was used a few times in the series to bring back deceased characters. During Orochimaru's attack on Konoha, Edo Tensei gave fans a chance to see the legendary First and Second Hokage in action. During the Fourth Shinobi World War, Kabuto used that same jutsu to bring back every deceased Kage and powerful shinobi of the past, which led to Naruto finally meeting his father,

Naruto's Sequel Has Not Solved The Series' Issue With Women
Image
Warning: Spoilers for chapter #6-2 of Naruto: Sasuke's Story - The Uchiha and the Heavenly Stardust.

Despite fans' hopes that the new Naruto sequel, Sasuke's Story, could solve the series' long-standing issues with women's representation, the depiction of Sakura in the latest chapter proves that the beloved franchise has still not gotten over its most significant hurdle.

One of the biggest criticisms against Naruto was the treatment the series reserved for its female characters. While the early part of Naruto introduced many compelling women, such as Sakura, Hinata, and Tsunade, by the end of the series these characters had faded into the background. Even worse, in the main sequel, Boruto, both Sakura and Hinata were relegated to the role of housewife, and Tsunade barely appeared. Fans hoped that the manga adaptation of the light novel Sasuke's Story, which focuses on Sasuke and Sakura's adult relationship as a married couple,

Pokémon Scarlet & Violet: All Mystery Gift Codes (January 2023)
Image
For January 2023, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Trainers can start off the new year by claiming free rewards from this month's featured Mystery Gift codes. These freebies from the developers have always been an excellent source of valuable materials and currencies. For instance, one of the codes for January grants users over ten thousand League Points for their player character. Of course, to those far in the postgame content, this amount could be somewhat negligible. Conversely, newer players will undoubtedly find much use for this currency pack, as they will be able to craft a variety of Tm Moves for their pocket monsters in preparation for challenging Tera Raids and Trainer Battles.

Those who have redeemed Mystery Gift codes in the past should have no issue claiming their freebies for January 2023 in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. On the other hand, newcomers might need assistance to carry out the process. To redeem

Grammy predictions: Diana Ross will be 4th solo woman to win Best Traditional Pop Album
Image
Believe it or not, Diana Ross has never won a Grammy. The legendary diva who charted 12 #1 singles with The Supremes and six as a solo artist has been shut out by the Recording Academy despite 12 nominations between 1965 and 1983. She was, however, bestowed their Lifetime Achievement Award in 2012. Now, at the age of 78, Ross looks poised to win her first competitive Grammy for Best Traditional Pop Album (“Thank You”), but it’s no sure bet.

While Ross leads our combined Grammy odds, this category has rarely been won by a female artist. In fact, since being introduced in 1992, only three women have taken home the prize for solo efforts. The very first honor went to Natalie Cole for 1992’s “Unforgettable,” which went on to win Album of the Year. The other two ladies to be honored were Patti Page in 1999 for “Live at Carnegie Hall: The 50th Anniversary Concert” and Joni Mitchell

Every Neil Gaiman Adaptation Ranked
Image
With the success of Netflix's The Sandman, there's been renewed interest in other Neil Gaiman adaptations, and here they are ranked from worst to best. Gaiman is a wizard with a pen and has amassed a library of notable literary works since the 1980s. He is known for his unique style of dark fantasy stories that span different mediums, including comics, graphic novels, fiction, and non-fiction. With his success as an author, it is no surprise that many of his notable works have been adapted for the screen. Gaiman has worked with almost all the major streaming platforms and networks to bring his literary creations to life. With more adaptations on tap, like Amazon's Anansi Boys, there is certainly no shortage of great material to explore in his ever-growing library.

In the early 1980s, Neil Gaiman started as a journalist. With a budding interest in fantasy and science fiction,

An Ode To Henry Cavill, A Great Superman Who Never Got A Great Superman Movie
Image
The first two roles I knew Henry Cavill for couldn't have been more different from one another. In Matthew Vaughn's 2007 fantasy film "Stardust," he plays Humphrey, an uppity romantic rival for Charlie Cox's heroic Tristan with a marvelously unconvincing mop of blonde hair and a dweeby pencil mustache. That same year, Cavill co-starred in Showtime's TV series "The Tudors" as the young King Henry VIII's (Jonathan Rhys Meyers) best friend Charles Brandon, 1st Duke of Suffolk, a dashing fellow who has little trouble sweeping Henry's widowed sister off her feet.

That Cavill handled both roles with equal aplomb should have been my first clue to expect big things from him, well before he was cast as Superman in 2011. His tenure as the Man of Steel would not be an easy one, however, beset by behind-the-scenes issues and Zack Snyder's polarizing creative vision for DC's finest characters. Cavill,

Superman Is DC Studios' Major Priority Going Forward, Says James Gunn
Image
New DC Studios head, writer and director James Gunn, recently stated that Superman is still a major priority going forward. Following WarnerMedia and Discover, Inc.'s merger in April, DC Films underwent a major restructuring resulting in the cancelation of several major projects including the nearly completed Batgirl film, which would have seen Michael Keaton return as Batman. With former CEO Walter Hamada departing in October, Gunn and Peter Safran were hired in his place and set in motion their plans to rebrand their superhero franchises.

Gunn recently took to social media to assure his followers that DC Studios still sees Superman as a major priority going forward. Following Henry Cavill's surprise cameo as Superman in a Black Adam post-credits scene, Man of Steel 2 was announced as in development. However, it was later revealed that the film was never greenlit following a rejected pitch. With Gunn's latest tweet, it

‘Bubblegum Brigades’ Tells Tale of Student Rebellion in Beirut School
Image
It’s a long journey from a school in Beirut in the early 90s to a screening room at the Red Sea Film Festival in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. But two school friends, director Samah El Kadi and writer Rani Nasr, have teamed up with producer Michelle Ayoub to bring their story of childhood innocence clashing with political reality to life in “Bubblegum Brigades,” a feature film project pitched as part of the Red Sea Lodge workshop.

El Kadi told Variety that the real life “Bubblegum Brigades” started as “a secret society where we used bubblegum as a bribery technique to get members, and then it got cooler, and then we staged sit-ins and a revolution, and it failed as did every revolution we were part of in Lebanon afterwards.”

Commercials producer Ayoub first read the script in 2019. Its tale of rebellion chimed with the political ferment of the time, and not only in Lebanon.

Scrooge: A Christmas Carol Voice Cast - What The Actors Really Look Like
Image
Netflix's Scrooge: A Christmas Carol features a remarkable voice cast, but what do the actors look like in real life? The animated reboot of the Charles Dickens classic follows the miser Ebenezer Scrooge through Christmases past, present, and future to highlight the mistakes the character has made throughout the years prioritizing his wealth over his relationships. Born into a poor family, young Ebenezer Scrooge works his way up to become a wealthy private banker, but he forgets his own struggle as a child and repeats the cycle of exploitation by levying the same pressure he endured on those who owe him money.

A Christmas Carol has so many movie adaptations under its belt that all avenues of innovation and reinvention seem to have been exhausted for the tale. However, Scrooge: A Christmas Carol leans heavily on its musical element in an attempt to distinguish it from its predecessors. Combined

With that renewed social currency, Cox is finding a wealth of other stories to tell. The announcement came bundled with a collection of first-look images showcasing Cox and some of his fellow cast members (more on them later) all looking very serious in suits and bulletproof vests. Considering "Treason" is set to be a spy thriller piece in the same vein as "James Bond" and "The Bourne Identity," the attire seems appropriate.

10 Fantasy Movie Adaptations That Are Nothing Like The Books, According To Reddit
Image
The recent success of the Rings of Power series has once again demonstrated the public interest in fantasy adaptations, with the meticulous lore outlined in J.R.R. Tolkien's books providing the perfect foundation for a great story. Of course, with the success of the Lord of the Rings movie adaptations, it could be expected that the Prime Video series would at least gain fan attention, especially with the intrigue of a new medium. Ultimately, it's easy to conclude that a novel with a strong fanbase will produce a well-adored screen adaptation.

But over the years, book fans have learned that a movie adaptation does not guarantee the same story told on screen. Several changes are often needed to shorten a tale to a couple of hours or to fit within the confines of what can be duplicated with movie magic. Other times, screenwriters decide to use a book as vague

Henry Cavill's 10 Best Characters, Ranked From Most Villainous To Heroic

Henry Cavill is back for round two as Sherlock Holmes in Netflix's Enola Holmes 2. And while critics praise his dynamic chemistry with Millie Bobby Brown, the actor has been trending online in all measures, such as his welcoming return as Superman to bowing down from playing Geralt in The Witcher.

Throughout his career, Cavill has played many memorable roles. He might've risen to fame by playing the greatest superhero of all time, but he's also portrayed some truly devious characters. And while he excels at playing heroic and villainous roles alike, audiences certainly know which version of Cavill they prefer.

So far, Henry Cavill has only played one outright villainous role: August Walker in 2018's action masterpiece Mission: Impossible - Fallout. Co-starring opposite Tom Cruise, Cavill's Walker is brutal and menacing, giving Ethan Hunt a run for his money.

Fortunately, Coral Island does not involve multiple currencies like Gems or Stardust but focuses on a single coin-based system for finances. Therefore, the process of earning money is straightforward, but understanding how to do it efficiently is where players might struggle. Matthew Vaughn Didn't Want Stardust To Fall Prey To Sequel Syndrome
Image
The film adaptation of Neil Gaiman's "Stardust" was entertaining but, despite what some would consider a decent fantasy film, it didn't make enough money to warrant a sequel. Considering the amount of things altered from book to screen, a sequel would have given plenty of room for exploration of things we missed and the like. Unfortunately, it just wasn't meant to be. For director Matthew Vaughn, though, not getting a sequel greenlit was probably for the best.

In "Stardust," we follow Tristan (Charlie Cox) in his journey to locate a fallen star initially to impress his crush, Victoria (Sienna Miller). In order to find this fallen star, he must cross over from his little village of Wall into the magical kingdom of Stormhold. The only thing stopping him is a guard. ‘We detested each other’: Christopher Eccleston on his relationship with Mark Strong

Christopher Eccleston has revealed that he and ex-colleague and actor Mark Strong once hated each other.

Netflix UK is about to remove a large selection of movies from its library – full list

Netflix is about to remove a alrge selection of movies and TV shows from its service.

Every month, without fanfare, numerous titles are removed from the streamer.

This means that, should something be on your watchlist, it will vanish until it’s added again.

Netflix doesn’t publicise the titles it will remove – and users will only be alerted to something’s imminent removal if they happen to select the title in question.

But, with help from the team at What’s on Netflix, we’ve compiled the full list – and you can find the compilation of everything being added this month here.

A Legendary Pop Star Wanted To Play Morpheus In The Scrapped Sandman Movie
Image
From January 1989 until March 1996, Neil Gaiman's pivotal goth text "The Sandman" flooded the hearts of Doc Martens-wearing, clove cigarette-smoking, Fields of the Nephilim-listening teens the world over. The comic followed the downbeat, bitter adventures of Dream, a supernatural personification of human dreams, as he escaped a prolonged prison sentence in a fantasy kingdom, and set out traversing multiple dimensions to build up his power again. Dream frequently ran into other personified human concepts like Death, Destiny, Despair, and Delirium, and existed in a vast, complicated mythology world that your "Rocky Horror Picture Show"-attending buddies probably knew better than you.

Because of its cult popularity, scuttlebutt about a "Sandman" feature film began to spread sometime in the mid-1990s. Recalling the time, the buzz seemingly became loudest following the release of Alex Proyas' ultra-Goth comic book adaptation "The Crow," a film that appeared to be visually and tonally in

How Matthew Vaughn Pitched Stardust To A Young Charlie Cox
Image
With several Neil Gaiman tales having made the jump from page to screen, such as "American Gods," "Coraline," and most recently "The Sandman," there is one project that consistently gets overlooked when discussing the author's work. I'm talking about "Stardust," which was published both as a comic with incredible illustrations from Charles Vess and as a traditional novel. The story received a rather delightful movie adaptation in 2007 — though it's quite different from the source material. While I love Charlie Cox's portrayal of the Man Without Fear in the soon-to-be-revived "Daredevil," my crush on the actor can definitely be traced back to this film.

"Stardust" follows Tristan (Cox), who lives in a town that borders a fantasy realm. Tristan's intention is to give a fallen star from this magical kingdom to Victoria (Sienna Miller), whom he's hoping to marry. However, this task is not easily accomplished since the star is

90 Day Fiance fans react to Part 1 of the Season 9 Tell All
Image
Part 1 of the 90 Day Fiance Tell All garnered reactions from viewers. Pic credit: TLC

Part 1 of the Season 9 of 90 Day Fiance Tell All aired last night, and it seems that it has been popular among viewers who have been expressing their opinions on social media.

This season’s cast has been criticized all season long for different reasons, including clout-chasing motivations, gaslighting tendencies, and stark incompatibilities with their partners.

A large part of the 90 Day audience has felt like this season has been boring. However, the Tell All may have perked viewers up.

With several key moments defining the Tell All, viewers have taken to social media to express their thoughts on what they saw in the explosive episode.

Based on viewer reaction, it looks like Jibri’s inflammatory antics, John calling Jibri out, and the appearance of tertiary cast members is what made the Tell All interesting to viewers.

Why Neil Gaiman's Stardust's Female Characters Still Endure
Image
On August 10th, Stardust turned celebrated its 15th anniversary. Directed by Matthew Vaughn and based on the Neil Gaiman novel of the same name, the film tells the story of a boy named Tristan Thorn (Charlie Cox) seeking to bring a fallen star (Claire Danes) back to his hometown from a magical realm to impress the love of his life (or so he believes). Unlike some fantasy adventures of decades past, Stardust holds up. One of the reasons the film remains relevant is because of its complex characters and their interwoven storylines, but it's the female characters in particular who stand out. They have distinct motivations and the audience gets to know them intimately as the film progresses - whether they're good or evil. They serve different functions within the greater narrative of the film and three characters were particularly vibrant: the fallen star Yvaine, the witch Lamia (Michelle Pfeiffer), and Tristan’s mother,

X-Men Taught Matthew Vaughn What Not To Do With Stardust
Image
Over the years, Matthew Vaughn has built a reputation as a decisive (if not a bit picky) filmmaker. He's known to choose his projects carefully, and he's never been afraid to step away from the director's chair if he doesn't like the direction things are taking. Creative control is important to Vaughn. It's why, despite a clear eye for glossy, stylized action franchises, he's walked away from several notable comic book movies. In another reality, Vaughn would have been the one ushering Thor into Marvel's Cinematic Universe. He was also initially attached to direct the third film in Bryan Singer's "X-Men" trilogy, fresh off his directorial debut with "Layer Cake."

Ultimately, neither came to fruition, which left Vaughn open to pursue other projects, like the high fantasy farce "Stardust" and, of course, the "Kick-Ass" movies. But before "Stardust," Vaughn might not have been ready to helm the "big

Stardust Borrowed Its Structure From A Very Different Robert De Niro Film
Neil Gaiman at an event for Stardust (2007)
Neil Gaiman's writing is often as weird and whimsical as it is scary and melancholy. It's the multi-hyphenate's ability to effortlessly blur the lines between genres and tones that makes his work tricky to adapt, even in the cases where all involved parties are on the same page creatively. But where animation can ebb and flow stylistically the way Gaiman's written word does, that's harder to manage in live-action.

Perhaps that's why Matthew Vaughn's "Stardust" remains one of the best non-animated projects based on Gaiman's writing 15 years after its release in 2007, even with...

John Legend Announces New Double Album He Says Is Worthy of His Last Name
Image
John Legend has announced that his new — sorta — self-titled double album Legend will arrive next month.

“Until this point, I’ve never used an aspect of my name as the title of an album,” Legend said of Legend in a statement. “I had to earn that, to live up to it by delivering in the performance and the music. And this is me saying, I’m proud of who I am, I’m confident in the work I’ve done, and I’m just going to declare it.”

Review: The Sandman, Neil Gaiman's Magnum Opus Gets the Streaming Treatment It Deserves
Image
Between 1989 and 1996, a then little-known, British-born writer, Neil Gaiman, wrote what many justifiably consider an unequalled masterpiece of serialized comic-book storytelling and a standard-resetting, genre-redefining work of dark fantasy, The Sandman. Well before The Sandman ended its ground-breaking run for DC after 75 issues, talk on- and off-line eventually turned toward the possibility, however seemingly remote at the time, of bringing Gaiman’s singular creation to film or cable TV. Repeated attempts over the better part of three decades, however, went the way of most potential, hoped-for adaptations, leaving longtime fans, not to mention Gaiman himself, frustrated at the inability of studio executives from seeing the obvious and green-lighting The Sandman’s...

HBO Max New Releases: August 2022
Image
And just like that, winter has come again. HBO Max’s list of new releases for August 2022 is highlighted by the return of the king. Or more accurately: the return of the queen … of the Seven Kingdoms.

Game of Thrones prequel House of the Dragon is set to premiere on HBO and HBO Max on Aug. 21, just over three years after Game of Thrones concluded in controversial fashion with “The Iron Throne.” This new series is a prequel, depicting the civil war known as the Dance of the Dragons from George R.R. Martin’s lore. When dragon fights dragon, the realm will be torn asunder. But the viewer will certainly delight in all the Targaryen action.

Length: Season 1: 10 hourlong episodes

Best Reason to Watch: Prior to today, Neil Gaiman, the outspoken author behind previous book-to-screen adaptations of “Coraline,” “Stardust,” “American Gods,” and “Good Omens,” has said that his main responsibility to his award-winning 1989 comic book series was “to try and stop bad [adaptations] from happening.” Insofar as this is the first “Sandman” to be seen on screen, he succeeded. And to match his faith in the Netflix series, he’s not just attached as a producer, but a writer and co-developer, as well. Audiences will be able to determine if his devotion and protection pay off when the 10-episode first season debuts this August, and the
