An attorney, intent on climbing the career ladder toward success, finds an unlikely opponent in a manipulative criminal he is trying to prosecute.
The house used as Ryan Gosling's character Willy Beachum's house is 3101 Minnesota Street, Los Angeles. Across the road is 3104 Minnesota Street, which was used as Matthew McConaughey's character Mick Haller's house in The Lincoln Lawyer (2011).

Towards the end when Beachum calls on Crawford, Crawford looks in a security monitor. Under the monitor there is a security panel for an alarm system. When the shot changes, the panel is gone, then appears again.
The opening credits, rather than merely superimposed on the background, cast shadows and have reflections as if they exist in the scene.
