TV Series | TV-PG | | Comedy, Crime, Mystery
A novice sleuth is hired by the Police after he cons them into thinking he has psychic powers which help solve crimes. With the assistance of his reluctant best friend, the duo take on a series of complicated cases.
On this show, Timothy Omundson played Carlton Lassiter, and was named after two memorable characters from different 1990s sitcoms. The first one is Carlton Banks, played by Alfonso Ribeiro on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air (1990). The second one is Paul Lassiter, played by Richard Kind on Spin City (1996).
Detective Lassiter is literally on fire today.
Shawn Spencer: "Literally on fire" as in Michael Jackson in the Pepsi commercial, or as in a misuse of the word "literally?"
Shawn often undertakes actions which would result in evidence and investigation being compromised. Since he has never been a police officer, these actions could result in cases being dropped or overturned upon appeal. There is no way that the Santa Barbara District Attorney would allow Shawn to perform the actions that he does.
Each time a guest performer sings the theme song, they sing the entire song as opposed the shorter version in normal episodes.
As of 2018, unlike the ION channel reruns which left the episodes uncut, the Hallmark Channel censors some of the language and suggestive humor despite it being mild.
