When the aliens take David Vincent on a trip in the space craft, it uses the sound effects from Earth vs. the Flying Saucers (1956), and also emulates the trip Dr Russell and Carol Marvin took with the aliens of that movie, showing a view of Earth from outer space after only a few seconds of flight.
