Wing Soong Ling is killed. When the marshal finds his wife, he is told of the fear of extortion and murder in the Chinese camp. Can he help them and the town overcome bigotry even if they feel they can't help themselves?
A Chinese man from the local mining camp stumbles into Laramie dying from a beating. He is grasping a concho from a saddle. Troop goes to the mining encampment but none of the Chinese will say anything except for the wife, May Ling, of the slain man. She returns to Laramie to help identify the men. When Troop notices a saddle missing a similar piece to the one found, he takes in two men for questioning who ask the local attorney to help them. May Ling identifies the men as the guilty parties. The attorney then whips up the town against the girl by buying drinks at the saloon resulting in her being attacked while staying at Dru Lemp's place. Troop puts down the problem created by the lawyer. When the other Chinese hear what happened, they come to Troop and tell him the lawyer is behind the extortion scheme.
