Maude And Walter Recall Their Dating Days
While Maude and Walter watch the 1972 Presidential election returns, they reminisce about the days they first dated during the 1968 Presidential election.

An OK episode, Beatrice Arthur has her hair darkened and Bill Macy has a hairpiece to look 4 years younger in the flashback sequences. We find out that Arthur is the one who introduced them. We first see them in flashback arguing over the 1968 election, Maude is a staunch Humphrey supporter and Walter doesn't want to vote. Arthur comes over and drives Maude crazy with his support of Nixon. Walter suddenly realizes that he wants to marry Maude, but she suggests they just live together. They break up over this, and Maude goes on a date with a boring storm door salesman (played by former movie star Van Johnson). Maude and Walter come to an understanding and they decide to get married.
