Here's another episode dealing Grandpa and his famous potions, which half of the time don't work but produce funny results, whether they work or not. In this case, he uses a potion on Herman to give him some talent, since has "volunteered" for Eddie's school's Talent Night.....and Herman has no talent! We can vouch for that when Herman practices singing. He's brutal.
Magic ballet slippers will give him instant talents, thinks Grandpa. "I got the recipe from Hans Christian Anderson," says the mad scientist. "The shoes, and some magic dancing powder thrown on them, will do the trick." Grandpa makes them specially for Herman (size 26E) but Herman thinks they will make him look "like a Communist, or something." He asks for the soft-shoe powder because "there always was a little Gene Kelly in me." However, Grandpa sprinkles ballet dust on them and Herman tip toes through the house, pirouettes out the door, etc.
To make a long story short, Eddie volunteers his father as a magician so, naturally, Grandpa has to do all the work and Herman winds up learning a lesson in humility - nothing new for this ham.
