- TriviaA mystery set in Cabot Cove without Dr. Seth Hazlitt, because William Windom was starring in the short-lived series Parenthood (1990). Ben Devlin took his place as a close male friend of Jessica.
- GoofsWhen Jessica, Nancy, and Ben Devlin are riding their bicycles, they pass a sign for Navarro something-or-other that's partially blocked by a tree. Navarro would be found in Mendocino, Calif., the filming location, not in Maine, the setting.

Sheriff Mort Metzger: This is strictly self-preservation, believe me. Last night, Adele and me we got into a little arm wrestling competition. She took me 10 out of 10.
Jessica Fletcher: Oh, dear.
Sheriff Mort Metzger: Yeah, "Oh, dear" is right. Before she started going to Wayne's, I'd always win at least one, sometime even two.

An episode to die for
Have always been quite fond of 'Murder She Wrote'. It is a fun and relaxing watch that makes you think as you try to unwind in the evening. If one wants more complex, twisty mysteries with lots of tension and suspense 'Murder She Wrote' may not be for you, but if you want something light-hearted and entertaining but still provide good mysteries 'Murder She Wrote' fits the bill just fine.
"A Body to Die For" is another one of the best Season 7 episodes. One may miss Ruth Roman and Gloria DeHaven but their absence is nowhere near enough to bring down an excellent episode that at its best is to die for. It is hugely entertaining and charming, with a very easy to get on board with and absorbing mystery that is tied up neatly and cleverly.
The episode is particularly worth seeing for the cast. Can't say anything bad about Angela Lansbury, who can do no wrong as Jessica, while Ron Masak is fully settled and has an easy-going presence and never descends into pushover or buffoon territory. Will Nye does a nice job.
Julie Adams is great fun and succeeds at being both feisty and classy. Jason Beghe is on smoking hot form, one can totally see what everybody sees in him. The only acting debit, and my only criticism of the episode, is the returning Joe Dorsey, once again epitomising the adjective annoying.
Production values as ever are slick and stylish, Cabot Cove never fails to charm. The music has energy and has presence but also not making the mistake of over-scoring, while it is hard to forget or resist the theme tune. The writing is suitably light-hearted, amiable and intriguing while taking itself seriously when needed without going overly so.
Overall, excellent. One of the better Season 7 episodes. 9/10 Bethany Cox
