I was a Adam's class DDG sailor in the early 1970s, serving in USS Barney DDG-6.
There is in some episodes a Spruance class destroyer moored at the Navy Yard near NCIS headquarters.
The writers need to do more research when writing scripts because there are a lot of ex-military personnel who will catch this type of mistake. It wouldn't have been a problem to give the correct name of a ship or a person. Also, at the time of airing DDG's did not have females onboard. They were stationed on Destroyer Tenders, medical ships and on tugboats but not on Guided Missile Destroyers or Aircraft Carriers.
And I find it a little ironic how I mentioned that the show hasn't seemed to hit its stride yet in my review of the previous episode, and then this episode ended up being the weakest one so far. That would've been better off being mentioned in this review instead.
But regardless of this particular episode, I'm sure it's among the minority when it comes to weak episodes like this one: not just in this first season alone but throughout the entire show. Despite that, I hope most of those episodes aren't bunched up together in a season; and are more spread out.
That's pretty much it. I know my review for this episode is shorter than my reviews for the previous episodes were: but it's to be expected given that this episode was pretty bland: and weak. But there were still levels of enjoyment to this episode. And that was due to the characters, the comedic moments with each other, and their dynamics. I also feel like that's going to be one of the hugest parts of this show. I'm a fan of those three elements already.
