While Rodney Dangerfield was doing his monologue. Jay Leno noticed something was off about Rodney. He asked the director to call paramedics while Dangerfield continued with his act. He finished and went off to sit Jay and while he was still seemingly the same old Rodney, Jay later said he was perspiring profusely and still seemed a little off. When he left the stage he was met and given a cursory exam by paramedics and based on that, taken to the hospital. The next day it was announced he had a mild heart attack.
