    Where it all starts

In this debut episode, we get introduced to a large amount of characters. Some family members, but also our main foul-mouthed criminals like J-Roc, Ricky Julian, Corey & Trevor. Julian and Ricky after 18 months have gotten out of jail, and need to reclaim it from the playground bully Cyrus. The acting as you would expect is finding its footing, but all the key information is tidily delivered and we get a quick idea of our main cast/the show's pitch. Not laugh out loud funny yet, but the juvenile humor lands for a pilot.

Highlights: Ricky talking about "The F off motel" Cyrus's stupid theme song

Personal Note: Don't remember a lot about TPB but have fond memories of being smaller staying up laughing at this 7-8 years ago. Now, as a grown adult I plan to go through many of these seasons. Looking forward to this viewing journey. It's hard to believe this came out in 2001. No clue it was that old.

    • Trivia
In order to give Julian something to occupy himself while he's talking, Mike Clattenburg had him mix himself a drink. They thought it looked really funny in his hand, and thought it might be funny if the character was always holding a drink. Thus, Julian is perpetually holding a rum and coke.
    • Goofs
When Cyrus is discussing his pistol (a Beretta 92FS INOX) he describes it as "Nine millimeter... safety always off..." However, in the close-up shot of the Beretta, the safety is clearly engaged.
    • Quotes

Cyrus: Old man gave me that when I was in Grade 7. Seen a lot of action. 9MM, safety always off. Told me he was proud of me once. Fucking prick.
