Storyline
Did you know
- TriviaPauline Melville, playing Vyvyan's (Adrian Edmondson's) mum, was less than nine years older than him in real life. She had previously appeared as one of the bus passengers in the pilot episode "Demolition".
- GoofsWhen Vyvyan does his finger trick, you can clearly see tubes going into his gloves to provide the blood. Some say this is a mistake, but others say it's part of the practical joke kits he uses because blood was meant to spurt out of his hand when he cut the fake finger off. It's a goof only if you want it to be.
- Alternate versionsA section of about 60 seconds was cut from the home video release. This started from the point the Kellogg's spokesman comes to the front door to when Neil returns from the local news agent. This scene deletion did not apply to home-video releases outside the United Kingdom or to the UK DVD release.

Featured review
I cannot add much to the other review of this one other than I think (like much of The Young Ones) the material is more clever than funny due to its satire and irreverence.
For me the humour lies mostly in the performances, with Rik Mayall on fantastic form as always. Adrian Edmondson is particularly good in this one. I love the scenes down the pub, especially the banter with Vyvyan's mum played superbly by Pauline Melville and of course the appearance of Madness.
My other favourite moments are the scenes involving the police, which take no prisoners in their parody of police racism. Plus I love it when the Iranian embassy style siege plays out in the background of their living room.
Overall I do not think it is a strong episode but it has standout moments that are brilliant. Comedy though is in the eye of the beholder so I appreciate others might feel different.
