  • Anyone who loves animals will be riveted by this story of the little zoo on the Gulf coast of Alabama that endured Hurricane Ivan.

You're there from the initial decision to move 250+ animals 20 miles inland to the Zoo director's property, through their anxious vigil during and immediately after the storm, to their sad return to the devastated 17 acre facility. Along the way, you get to know the 28 staff members and many of the animals upfront and personal, including Chuckie, the 1200 pound alligator who received international attention as they searched for him after the storm.

    A masterful, touching documentary!
  • This is the best thing I have seen in years - clean, decent story-telling, showing courage and love and care - makes me want to be a zoo keeper in the Little Zoo That Could - love the interaction with the animals, and the philosophy of all the people there. I give it 20 thumbs up, and wish there could be 25 more episodes of it. The director of this great family attraction is a great inspiration, and I love the scenes where the various zoo keepers raise the baby animals in their homes and with their families. I certainly wish the whole group well and pray that they won't be hit with any more hurricanes or bad weather this season. I wish I could afford to be a sponsor for one of the big animals, the big cats or the bears, but will have to be satisfied with maybe a monkey or meercat. It is a very educational show that tugs at your heartstrings every few minutes. It is really a KEEPER!
