When it comes to good old noughties episodic TV, October Road, which aired for two seasons on ABC from 2007-08, still holds a place in many hearts. “Finding Dory” marks yet another mid-life crisis movie at Pixar —a trend that’s sure to continue. For Andrew Stanton, though, the fear of being alone for Ellen DeGeneres’ forgetful blue tang became more relatable when he realized mid-way through production: “My kids are gone and who am I?”
“It was interesting to realize that I was talking about middle age and accepting who you are and going with it….It all kinda comes out eventually after four years on a film,” Stanton conceded.
But the “Finding Nemo” sequel, 13 years later, was daunting, like a second season of TV, where it’s a different path and you’re working from the outside in.
Stanton said he’s never had such a hard time cracking a character’s way of expressing itself.

In 1968, James Taylor signed a contract with the Beatles' burgeoning record label, Apple, making his self-titled debut LP the company's first release from a non-British artist. But securing that lucrative deal was intimidating for the then-unknown singer-songwriter, who auditioned for Paul McCartney and George Harrison. Taylor reflected on that nerve-racking experience with Seth Meyers on Thursday's Late Night, admitting he was "clinically nervous" as he played for half of the Fab Four.

We love The CW here at SciFi Mafia. Other than Syfy, Chiller, and Fear, who have a directed advantage, The CW shows far more of Our Kind of Shows than any other network. Currently on the roster they have Supernatural, Arrow, The Tomorrow People, Beauty and the Beast, and Nikita, which is sadly currently in its final, excellent, season.
Happily they’re replacing that with not one but two more of Our Kind of Shows – and with luck, Flash will also be on its way to us, though that wouldn’t be until fall. Today they’ve announced premiere dates for the two new shows, and a schedule shift for two current shows:

The CW has long been one of the best supporters of Our Kind of Shows, and at this year’s Upfronts they put even more money where our hearts are. Of the six new shows announced for the fall and winter schedule, four are for us: The Originals, The Tomorrow People, The 100, and Star-Crossed. The Fall TV Season presentations for all the new network shows take place this week with the fifth and final one announced today. Here's a full breakdown of which concepts have made the final list over on The CW.

Stults, who's coming off a recurring part on the canceled "Ben and Kate," will star in "Enlisted" from "Cougar Town" co-creator Kevin Biegel. The show follows three brothers stationed at a small Army base in Florida; Stults will play one of them, a sergeant recently sent home from Afghanistan after punching a superior officer.
Prior to "Ben and Kate," Stults starred in the short-lived "Bones" spinoff "The Finder." His other credits include "October Road" and "Happy Town."
More pilot casting:
- Ramon Rodriguez, who played Bosley in ABC's "Charlie's Angels" last season, will star in Fox's drama "Gang Related."
