In "Clown Without Pity," it is Bart's birthday, and Homer has forgotten to get him a present. Finding himself in a strange curiosity store, the owner recommends a Talking Krusty Doll, but warns Homer that it contains a curse. The gift pleases Bart, but Homer finds that whenever he is alone with the doll, it keeps trying to kill him! Homer even attempts to get rid of it, but the doll comes back to torture him, leading Marge to call the toy company. A man comes out to check on the doll, and finds the source of the problem: a switch on the doll's back has been set to "evil." He sets it to "good," and the doll soon gets along with Homer.

In "King Homer," Marge Bouvier answers a newspaper ad Mr Burns puts in the paper. She soon finds herself on a ship being taken to a place called Ape Island. Before long, she is taken by the natives, and offered up as a sacrifice for a giant ape the locals call, "Homer." The ape soon becomes infatuated with her, but not before Mr Burns and his crew gas-bomb him to sleep.
Returning to New York, Homer is put on display on Broadway. However, the flashbulbs from the press enrage him, and he breaks free, running amok in downtown Springfield. He eventually finds Marge, and taking her in-hand, attempts to climb a building. However, the strain is too much for his unhealthy heart, and after climbing just a few stories, he lands in the street. Mr Burns washes his hands on the whole thing, before Marge declares she will marry the big ape and take care of him.

In "Dial 'Z' for Zombies," Bart is told to do a new book report after his attempt to use an alphabet pop-up book doesn't fly with Mrs Krabappel. Finding an occult section at the school library, he checks out a book and finds it contains all sorts of spells. When Lisa brings up how she misses her first cat Snowball I, Bart finds a spell to raise the dead, and thinks he can help her.
The spell does not bring back her cat, but reanimates the dead bodies in the local cemetery. Soon, the dead are biting the living and infecting them, from Principal Skinner to Ned Flanders! Bart is eventually able to read the spell that stops the zombies, and many of them return to their graves.
In the end, Marge claims she is glad they survived, while the family stares zombie-like at the television set.
