After he makes a collect call to Australia and refuses to pay for it, Bart sparks an international incident, with the Simpsons forced to travel to the country in order to repair political relations.
The episode has since become study material for sociology courses at the University of California, where it is used to "examine issues of the production and reception of cultural objects, in this case, a satirical cartoon show", and to figure out what it is "trying to tell audiences about aspects primarily of American society, and, to a lesser extent, about other societies".
Australian with Spoon:

Australian with Spoon: *This* is a knife.
Bart: That's not a knife, that's a spoon.
Australian with Spoon: Alright, alright you win. I see you've played knifey-spoony before.
Homer asks for a big beer and the bar tender puts a giant can of Fosters Beer on the counter. While it's possible for the bar to stock Fosters, it is unlikely as it's not widely available and is primarily an export.
