The idea George Romero never had: Take big 70s blockbuster cheese like "Airport", put a few undead in the cargo hold - and now let's talk disaster movies. "Plane Dead" works surprisingly well, slowly building tension in the first half hour before crew and passengers notice that it's not WALL-E hiding in the „basement". Director Scott Thomas gets the max out of his limited budget: The movie seldom looks like a cheapo, the special effects are more than just decent, and you might recognize a few familiar faces (Kevin J. O'Connor, Dale Midkiff, Richard Tyson) among the living. In the realm of an undead and meanwhile mostly inanimate genre, „Plane Dead" ranks undoubtedly among the livelier efforts.
