It is explained in the film that the reason ballplayer Harry Simpson got the nickname "Suitcase" was that he was often traded in the major leagues. This is incorrect. He actually picked up the nickname while still playing in the Negro League. Harry wore a size 13 shoe, and a sportswriter dubbed him "Suitcase" Simpson, based on a character by that name with feet as large as suitcases, in the comic strip "Toonerville Folks." A cartoon appeared in the paper showing Harry with feet as long as a bed.
