A drama about one of New York's most prestigious ad agencies at the beginning of the 1960s, focusing on one of the firm's most mysterious but extremely talented ad executives, Donald Draper.
Matthew Weiner shot the pilot on the hiatus between the two parts of season 6 of The Sopranos (1999), and he used a lot of the crew from the HBO show to do it. David Chase agreed to help him in what he could, but making sure that Weiner would come back to write the last episodes of The Sopranos (1999).

The picture of Pete's wife is different in later episodes than from the pilot. The picture in the pilot is obviously not the actress who plays Pete's wife (Alison Brie) most likely because she was not yet cast.
