Lionsgate has promoted Joel Meyer to executive vp, worldwide production for Lionsgate Television, replacing studio veteran Gary Goodman as he retires.

Meyer will head up production for the studio’s premium scripted series slate, while overseeing Lionsgate’s East Coast TV production facilities in Atlanta, Yonkers, New York and Newark, New Jersey. He succeeds Goodman, an 18-year veteran at the studio.

Meyer’s promotion comes as the Lionsgate Television Group has a production slate that includes ABC’s The Rookie, a Rookie spinoff in the works from series creator Alexi Hawley, and an adaptation of the John Grisham bestseller The Rainmaker for USA Network. Other TV series in production include the reimagining of the classic Robin Hood tale for MGM+ and multiple Power Universe shows for Starz.

Lionsgate has promoted Joel Meyer to executive vice president of worldwide production for its television unit, succeeding Gary Goodman who decided to take an early retirement package, an individual with knowledge told TheWrap.

In his new role, Meyer will be responsible for overseeing the studio’s slate of premium scripted series as well as its East Coast production facilities in Yonkers, N.Y., Atlanta, Ga. and Newark, N.J the company announced Thursday.

Mikey Madison, fresh from winning the Oscar for Best Actress in a Leading Role for Anora, will host on March 29 with Morgan Wallen as musical guest.

Madison is making her SNL hosting debut, while Wallen is making his second appearance. The country singer previously featured in December 2020, two months after he was dropped from an episode after failing to take Covid precautions on a night out.

Black is hosting for the fourth time, and his April 5 episode coincides with his appearance in the A Minecraft Movie, which hits theaters the day before. He will be joined by Elton John and Brandi Carlile as musical guests. John has actually only on SNL only twice, first as musical guest in 1982 and then as host and musical guest in 2011. He has, however, been impersonated a lot on the show.

One of Hulu‘s biggest original shows of the year premieres this week. Based on a true story that has already confused and compelled millions, “Good American Family” is coming at a time when there certainly is not a shortage of great, worthwhile shows on the air. Whether or not it will be able to rise above its competition and emerge as a must-see addition to this year’s already packed TV slate remains to be seen.

D’Andrea died March 11 of heart failure at her home in Santa Monica, her daughter Andrea Doven told The Hollywood Reporter.

She was married to Tony winner and Mad Men star Robert Morse from 1961 until their 1981 divorce.

Today, Apple TV+ unveiled a trailer for Your Friends & Neighbors, a new drama that stars Hamm and Amanda Peet (Fatal Attraction) as a divorced couple that has a complicated relationship. Renewed for Season 2 before Season 1 even premiered, the series is executive produced by Hamm himself and is slated to start rolling its episodes on April 11.

Jon Hamm built his reputation as the smooth-talking yet deeply troubled Don Draper in Mad Men. But long before he became Hollywood’s leading man, his past carried a scandal that would later haunt him. In 2015, just as Mad Men was airing its final season, a dark chapter from his college days resurfaced – a violent fraternity hazing at the University of Texas in 1990.

Court and school records revealed Hamm’s involvement in a brutal initiation ritual as a Sigma Nu fraternity member. The victim, Mark Allen Sanders, claimed he was “severely beaten, dragged with a hammer, and had his pants lit on fire.” He alleged that Hamm participated “till the very end.”

Today, AMC Networks revealed the premiere date, trailer and key art for season two of In the Kitchen with Harry Hamlin, a five-episode cooking series executive-produced and hosted by renowned actor, writer and entrepreneur Harry Hamlin (Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches) and his niece and classically trained chef and author, Renee Guilbault.

Don’t be fooled by its cheery name: Happy Face looks haunting.

Paramount+ has released a trailer for the forthcoming drama, which premieres with two episodes on Thursday, March 20; the eight-episode series will then follow a weekly release schedule. The footage sees Dennis Quaid don an orange jumpsuit as Keith Jesperson, aka the Happy Face Killer, who sits behind bars for his murderous crimes. He’s visited by his daughter, Melissa Moore (played by B Positive’s Annaleigh Ashford) — but the meeting doesn’t exactly radiate with familial love.

Michael Imperioli, alongside James Gandolfini, is one of the biggest stars to have come out of The Sopranos. However, the former, who played the role of Christopher Molisanti on the show, seems to believe that recreating such a series in the modern era may prove to be a much bigger challenge than back when the series first came out, in 1999.
