Eucalyptus
Bob and Bill are enjoying a day at the beach when they spot animal tracks of a type they've never seen before. Their Indian guide knows what it is. A ship was passing by and this critter showed up. The boys decide to capture it. It turns out to be a koala.
This is a movie, so strict adherence to reality is not optional, it's forbidden. However, the boys read out of a book that the koala lives exclusively on eucalyptus leaves -- which it does -- and the eucalyptus does not grow in North America. There are about seven hundred species of the eucalyptus, but only 15 live outside Australia, and one gets as far away as the Philippines. So what has it been living on in the week or so since it fell overboard on an ocean cruise?
Well, cute beats reality. The koala is a cute critter.
