IMDb has 'Avengers' and the whole Marvel Cinematic Universe covered with all the latest clips, interviews, and in-depth info.
The character to whom the Other is talking in the credits is Thanos the Mad Titan, a major supervillain in the Marvel Universe. He is a cosmic mass murderer, who is literally in love with the personification of Death, which is why he is smiling at the phrase, "To court death".
The Tesseract has awakened. It is on a little world. A human world. They would wield its power, but our ally knows its workings as they never will. He is ready to lead. And our force, our Chitauri, will follow. The world will be his. The universe ...
(at around 2h 10 mins) Towards the end while the Avengers are on the news, there is a guy spray painting "the Avengers" on a wall. The style of the letters changes between shots.
There is a scene after the credits: the Avengers are seen eating at a shawarma restaurant (the same one Stark mentioned at the end of the battle). This scene was originally only included in the US version of the film, but was included in the international DVD/Blu-ray release.
The scene where Loki stabs Agent Coulson exists in two versions. The original version shows the weapon piercing Coulson's body, the cut version does not. In various territories (Germany, Switzerland, Russia, United Kingdom and Ireland), the cut scene was used for the DVD release (why this was done i.e. for the German release is unknown, since it would not have changed the rating).
