Fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe are familiar with the running debate about who is the strongest Avenger.
That’s one of those questions that we could go back and forth about for weeks with plenty of viable answers. Is it Scarlet Witch or the Hulk? Maybe Thor? Who could say?
But we’re posing a different question today, one that we can easily answer: Who is the richest member of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes based on their estimated net worth?
Since assembling for the first time in 2012′s The Avengers, the lineup of the team has constantly changed between movies, and it continues to moving into 2024.
Of course, fans know and love the core group – Chris Evans (Captain America), Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Mark Ruffalo (Hulk) and Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye). However, so many other favorites have been added on along the...

It’s crazy to think that the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) could have had R-rated movies, but the circumstances did not permit it to, most especially because the superhero films were tailored for the general public viewing. But, did you know that 2012’s The Avengers was almost given an R-rating?
Marvel Studios’ The Avengers
That’s definitely a surprise for everyone, but yes, even before the introduction of 2016’s Deadpool and 2017’s Logan, Marvel Studios was on the verge of bringing a slightly gory comic book film to life.

During his interview with Movies.com via HuffPost, Marvel boss Kevin Feige revealed The Avengers almost earned an R-rating due to one tragic scene involving Clark Gregg’s Phil Coulson.

George Waggner's 1941 horror film "The Wolf Man" introduced audiences to, essentially, the "second officer" of the Universal Monsters canon. Everyone knows that Dracula is the captain of the monster ship, and that Frankenstein is his first officer (a position he often shares with the Bride). The Wolf Man is always third in command, perhaps serving as a security officer or an enforcer. Mummies, gillmen, invisible men, Dr. Hydes, and other ancillary ghouls serve lower down in the crew.
Watching the original "Wolf Man" film, however, reveals a dark and sad tale about Larry Talbot who is attacked by a wolf on a misty night in Wales, afflicting him with the curse of the werewolf. Throughout the year, Larry will transform into an animalistic wolf/human creature and stalk and kill random victims. The tale is terrifying and tragic and inspired many pop culture tales to follow -- as well as many nightmares.

The last episode of BBC’s Sherlock aired in 2017. The detective series is based on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes. The British detective series stars Benedict Cumberbatch in the titular role and Martin Freeman as Doctor John Watson. Mark Gatiss and Steven Moffat created the series.
When Sherlock ended with season 4, fans demanded the makers give them a fifth season. It will be seven years, and the hope for another season is only diminishing. However, the show’s co-creator, Mark Gatiss (who also plays Mycroft Holmes), revealed that he is interested in bringing the story to the big screen. Video games are more than just merely sources of entertainment. Players have been emotionally attached to video games in ways one could have rarely imagined. And it’s fair enough given the content, elements, characters, lores as well as the experiences that the games offer. This ensures players not only invest their time but also an emotional as well as mental part of themselves.
The death of a character, the betrayal, the unfortunate events, all of these have the ability to break hearts. Similarly, canceled games are something that has bothered gamers for years. After being announced and even trailer releases, there are multiple games that have failed to see the light of the day, crushing the excitement of fans.

Thanks to recent trends that have been established in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it seems like diverse Marvel projects, those produced by other studios before and parallel to the MCU are part of the same multiverse. Given that it has been established that the multiverse functions on a ‘What If’ mechanism (basically there is a norm that things deviate from rather than being radically different from the get-go), it begs the question of why some concepts exist in certain universes, but are absent from others.
Hydra in the MCU
For example, it seems that whichever universe has the X-Men, usually does not have the Avengers, and the universes that have a version of the Avengers, usually end up without a unified team of mutants. This has been speculated about by fans, and the conclusion that has been reached might be a little more out there than what most would expect.

Tom Hiddleston is reflecting on 14 years of portraying Loki in Marvel films and television shows and admits he isn’t sure whether he’ll return to the role.
The actor stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Thursday to promote the news that his series, The Night Manager, was returning for two more seasons after taking an eight-year break. While on the late night show, the host asked Hiddleston if he knew when he was cast in the role of Loki that he would be playing him for as long as he has.
“I had no idea, and every time someone says that [it’s been 14 years], it kind of blows my mind because when I was cast in 2009, I was 28, and I’m 43 now, and that’s a big chunk of my adult life I’ve been playing this amazing character,” the Thor star said. “It’s changed the course of my life completely.

Marvel Studios has been quiet for a little while, but Kevin Feige and company made a splash at CinemaCon 2024 by showing off several minutes of footage from one of their next big movies.
One of the most astonishing things about the 15-year-long cultural phenomenon of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is that they managed to get a mass audience to care about limp characters like Thor and Captain America. As a comics reader in the 1990s, I recall that those who read Thor and Captain America books were snickered at; the X-Men, Batman, Spider-Man, and the then-rising Image Comics characters were considered way cooler. Thanks to the MCU, however, Captain America (previously played by Chris Evans) was now hip, and his movie "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" is often vaunted -- rather debatably -- as one of the best films in the long-running series.

Fanboys will have to wait until San Diego Comic Con to see footage from Marvel Studios’ 2025 release Captain America: Brave New World, but exhibitors do not. On Thursday during Disney’s closing CinemaCon session, the studio showed off the new Anthony Mackie movie that picks up after the events of the 2021 Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. In that series, Sam Wilson takes over the shield left behind by the late Steve Rogers (Chris Evans).
Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige called the film “a grounded politically thriller” onstage of Caesars Palace at the Colosseum before introducing Mackie.
Mackie shared how he started in these movies 10 years ago, and loved how he’s now “starring in my own Marvel movie.” Mackie didn’t delay and introduced the footage.

In keeping with CinemaCon tradition, Disney this afternoon treated attendees to the first 35 minutes of its latest Pixar movie; this year being Inside Out 2.
The sequel to the 2015 pic brings viewers back into the mind of the now-teenage Riley (Kensington Tallman) as her emotions try to keep up with her new feelings. And while Pixar has gotten the short end of the stick during the pandemic with its movies Soul, Luca and Turning Red being sent to Disney+ and Lightyear shunned by Toy Story purists, Inside Out 2 had the Colosseum in stitches.
It was punctuated by the humor of Amy Poehler and Lewis Black, along with Maya Hawke’s scene-stealing turn as the antagonist Anxiety, who takes over the soul of young teen Riley from the feelings of Joy, Anger, Sadness and Fear. Let’s also not forget about Envy (Ayo Edebiri), who is in cahoots with Anxiety for the spirit of Riley.

Batman: The Animated Series was a truly one-of-a-kind show that received worldwide love and fame. The series writer Henry Gilroy was praised for his writing skills that helped create the 2-D version of Batman into a full-fledged character with depth and intensity.
At that time, the U.S. military was not looking good because of what happened in the Middle East. Wanting to change public opinion, Henry Gilroy helped develop a U.S. military-centric series that went on to become quite a fantastic take on the franchise of G.I. Joe.

Directing highly anticipated films in renowned franchises like the Marvel Cinematic Universe is always considered a tough job that requires dedication, commitment, and mutual effort between the cast, crew, and the filmmaker. But seemingly, Avengers: Age of Ultron director Joss Whedon faced a bit more difficulty than usual, perhaps due to his cast of superheroes.

Making things excessively difficult for Joss Whedon than it actually was, the MCU cast of superheroes caused an exhausting journey for the director as he helmed two massive tent-poles for the MCU. When early Marvel Studios movies planted their seeds that implied a possible crossover of their films, they came off as fun little easter eggs for the hardcore fans at first. Then, when The Avengers came out in 2012 with its game-changing crossover, the film world saw what they were capable of and studios rushed behind them in line to try to get some of that shared universe glory. A producer on the successful Sonic the Hedgehog movies thinks the video game-inspired franchise has the characters and the lore to build what he hopes will be “Avengers-level” event films.
According to IGN, franchise and series executive producer Toby Ascher recently gave an interview with Paste Magazine where he spoke about Paramount’s plan to build upon the Sonic the Hedgehog movies into a mega event. Robert Downey Jr. is one of the biggest movie stars of our generation. The actor recently won his first Oscar for his role in Christopher Nolan’s monumental 2023 historical drama Oppenheimer. But, despite his many impressive movie roles, Downey Jr. will forever be Iron Man for Marvel fans.
The 59-year-old actor also won fans over after candidly talking about his battle with drug addiction and how he overcame it. Marvel is witnessing how big of a hole Robert Downey Jr. left in the MCU when his character heroically died in Avengers: Endgame. Most of the projects post-Endgame show a declining trend in audience interest in the films.
While this is a universal trend across Cbm films now, returning superheroes notably get a more positive reception. Fans have been suggesting that Marvel bring back Downey Jr. as Iron Man for the same reason.

Dealing with violent characters and their graphic storylines can definitely be a tricky affair when you’re making a show for kids. Unfortunately, that is exactly what has been happening with Marvel’s fan-favorite X-Men member, Wolverine for years.
X-Men ’97
Marvel recently revived its highly successful X-Men: The Animated Series from the 90s under the name of X-Men ’97. However, the problem with exploring some of the badass stories of Wolverine remains the same to this day.
Boyd Kirkland explains why the violent side of Wolverine was never explored in X-Men: Evolution
X-Men is one of Marvel’s most popular superhero teams. The team arguably comes 2nd in popularity right after The Avengers as the latter has gained a lot of admiration and acclaim since their live-action adaptation in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Younger comic-book fans might be surprised to learn that there was once a time when Marvel Comics was on its last legs and willing to do anything to keep the company afloat. Before underdog blockbusters like the X-Men and Blade films put Marvel heroes back on the map, they were desperately trying to experiment with their comics in order to attract a wider audience.
One such experiment was the Marvel Knights imprint, a collection of stand-alone stories that initially focused on less-marketable heroes and gave artists free-reign to tell unique and more adult-oriented stories unshackled by decades of garbled continuity issues. While these stories didn’t always succeed in revitalizing characters for a new generation (and often contained the worst kind of late-90s/early 2000s edge), they were almost always incredibly stylish and memorable.

Kevin Feige was part of the infamous Marvel Creative Committee (McC) in the early stages of the MCU and played a crucial role in preventing the committee from ruining Captain America. According to reports, Feige and Louis D’Esposito vehemently opposed the committee’s idea to set the character in modern times. There were screaming matches during meetings of the McC, with Feige emerging successful and giving us the period piece, Captain America: The First Avenger.

Joe Simon and Jack Kirby created Captain America in 1940 as a symbol of American propaganda. Enhanced by a powerful steroid, Steve Rogers was given over to the American military, given a colorful, American flag costume, and ordered to pummel Nazis. Indeed, on the cover of "Captain America Comics" #1, Steve can be seen punching Adolf Hitler in the face. After WWII ended, Captain America has been adrift in Marvel Comics, only finding usefulness as the leader of a ragtag group of other superbeings. It's astonishing how successful the character has been in the last 60 years or so, given that he clearly exists as a still-living relic of the Greatest Generation.
In 1944, Captain America first appeared in cinemas as the star of a 15-part Republic Pictures serial starring Dick Purcell. The character was altered dramatically for the serial, however. Instead of a weakling soldier named Steve Roger enhanced by steroids, Captain American...

Hmm… it seems that Zack Snyder’s Watchmen wasn’t so controversial after all. Although the film was great to every extent, it simply felt too modern for audiences who were just starting to fall in love with superhero movies like Iron Man.
Despite being an underrated film, many directors were involved with the project long before Zack Snyder took the reins. Notable among them was The Bourne Supremacy director Paul Greengrass and his idea of the opening scene of Watchmen was dark dark!

Paul Greengrass’ fame skyrocketed through the roof after he directed the 2004 film The Bourne Supremacy starring Matt Damon in the lead role. Just a year after that, Greengrass was working on the 2009 DC project Watchmen.
A still from Watchmen
Although the partnership was short-lived, Paul Greengrass had already envisioned how the film was going to be.

The ‘unremarkable sequel’ was something the Marvel Cinematic Universe found difficult to shake off in its initial phases. Thinking back to films like Iron Man 2 and Thor: The Dark World could bring back memories of botched character arcs and poor commercial and critical scores. However, all that changed when Anthony and Joe Russo presented their Captain America sequel to the world, leaving the MCU worse than they found it if recent criticisms are to be believed.
Chris Evans and Scarlett Johansson in Captain America: The Winter Soldier
By no means is Captain America: The Winter Soldier, now 10 years old, a bad film. Not only did the film break the sequel curse for the MCU, but it was also a solidly directed film, with an airtight script and a characterization of Captain America that changed a lot of people’s perspective of the character, especially after his outings in Captain America: The First Avenger...

Kevin Feige and his team had big ambitions when they started the MCU back in 2008. The plan was to introduce key members of the Avengers including Iron Man, Thor, and Captain America in their solo films first to make audiences care about the characters. The solo storylines would ultimately culminate in a crossover film which became The Avengers in 2012.
The original six Avengers in 2012’s The Avengers
The big risk paid off as the MCU’s Avengers team incredibly resonated with audiences. Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, Thor, Black Widow, The Hulk, and Hawkeye became the original 6 Avengers. However, director Joss Whedon almost included the Wasp in the film, played by Zooey Deschanel, who was supposed to have a major presence in the film.

Representation of diversity has become a massive subject in the entertainment industry in the last few decades. However, the situation was quite different in the early 2000s when the audience used to not bat an eye over these things.

Among Disney’s “announcements” during their annual shareholder meeting, a piece of blue sky art was presented as a possible look at what an Avatar-themed area in Disneyland could look like.
During Disney CEO Bob Iger’s comments about all the “turbocharging” coming to Disney parks, an image of concept art for the Avatar area was put up, and they kept teasing.

The first Avengers film was inarguably a true masterpiece. With its star-studded cast and even more brilliant storyline, casting, and actors’ performances, the Joss Whedon-helmed film was perfection at its peak. But before it was finalized to hold all the elements that it did, the film almost took a different turn; one that could have brought about Zooey Deschanel’s Marvel debut.
2012’s The Avengers.
As surprising as it may seem, filmmaker Whedon almost had Deschanel debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the same role that later went on to Michelle Pfeiffer. And had Scarlett Johansson’s scheduling conflicts for the same persisted, fans just might have seen a different plot in the saga — one that included Deschanel as a young Janet Van Dyne!

While once the industry norm, since the 2010s, Hollywood has notably shifted away from mid-budget productions, at least on the mainstream level, making big-budget productions their priority. And the root cause for it can be tied to the superhero industry, especially the MCU, which had a stranglehold at the box office with nearly all of its productions in the last decade.
However, the genre that suffered the utmost consequences following the rise of superhero productions was comedies, which led Zooey Deschanel to believe her career was dead as a result.
