I'm sorry but I think this is a horrible adaptation. It just copied like the original one, unlike Ugly Betty which had so many difference. The main actress is okay, but the main actor really bad, nothing compared to Jorge Abello (who play as Armando Mendoza) in the original version. Don't watch this version, watch the original.

cherie33331 October 2021I'm an Spanish speaker and I found that this version follows the original Colombian one Yo soy Betty la fea and I can say I really like it even if I cannot speak Russian I could understand almost all, I watched it with English subtitles.
The acting of Nelly Uvarova who plays Katya (Betty) and Grigory Antipenko who is Andrei (Armando) are pretty good, specially Antipenko who had a similar intensity as Jorge Enrique Abello's acting level. I could feel the same rollercoaster of emotions with the two characters Andrei Zhdanov and Armando Mendoza.
If you're Yo soy Betty la fea fan, this version is a must see. 👌😎 -
umania3335 January 2015I really do like this show. This brings many nostalgic memories to me from 2005-2006 and the Russian channel CTC (STS). It's an original (well, from my perspective) remake of the Spanish Yo Soy La Betty Fea. I hope they make some sort of 10 Year reunion D: I really recommend this to Russian speakers and hope they watch a few episodes. :D This shows an ordinary girl who just finished university and is highly intelligent. She is the Ugly Duckling working at a fashion house in Moscow and falls in love with her boss. In the middle of the series, her fairy godmother come and turns her into a beautiful duckling. At the end they get married at live a happy life together.

Pro tip: don't compare this series to Ugly Better. Give this show a chance to speak for itself.
I find this show to be brilliant in its own way. Each actor is carefully casted, they fit the role they play so well. You will laugh, you will cry. It is beautifully done and at the end you will wish there was Season 2!
The character of Katya is someone we can all resonate with to some degree and we cant help but fall in love with her. I hope you give this show a chance as it is also an a great look into the Slavic culture.
