This is the story of Fenton Fuller who was born as a normal child who owned two rabbits when he was younger. He called them Kung-Fu and Ju-Jitsu. Fenton is a schizophrenic and as an adult it dominates his life.
Shortlisted by the BBC for the New Talent award for 2006, this short film is an interesting and slightly disturbing look at a schizophrenic called Fenton Fuller. The film doesn't really have a start, middle and ending narrative because Fenton himself jumps all over the place. We learn things about him but we cannot be sure if they are true or just in his head as many of the scenes (if not all) exist within his head rather than in the reality of the film. It is not the easiest film to watch for this reason but it is engaging nonetheless as Conway has made a convincing 8 minutes inside Fenton, producing a palatable sense of panic, fear, confusion but also conversely instilling this all with a sense of certainty, or being right.
It is difficult to describe but it worked well for me and made for an interesting film. It may not leave you with much more than an impression, or have a plot to talk of but it is interesting for what it does do well and is worth a look if you come across it.
