Bryan Cranston’s role as Walter White in Breaking Bad was so perfect that it almost touched the likes of iconic castings such as Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark and Daniel Craig as James Bond. Despite his relatively minor reputation in the peripheries of the television industry, it was a calling that Cranston was destined to serve in Breaking Bad and leave the series behind as his legacy.
Breaking Bad [Credit: AMC]
It is pointless to deny the magnitude of Breaking Bad as the series was elemental in launching the Second Golden Age of television alongside Mad Men. The AMC crime drama, after being picked up by Netflix, ascended into a modern-day classic whose existence would forever be engraved in pop culture history.
And yet, the network executives were a good sport about filming an alternate ending for Breaking Bad that completely disregarded and rebuffed the entire series.

Back in 2014, Kevin Feige pulled a fast one on us. He teased Captain America: Serpent Society before revealing the real title—Civil War. It was a joke at the time, but now, a decade later, the Serpent Society is finally getting its moment in Captain America: Brave New World. And according to director Julius Onah, this is just the beginning.
‘We’ve talked about the Serpent Society from the start,’ Onah says. ‘There’s a lot more story to tell.’ Marvel producer Nate Moore backs him up, explaining that the group was never meant to be a throwaway reference.
In the new film, Anthony Mackie’s Captain America and Danny Ramirez’s Falcon face off against the Serpent Society, a deadly special-ops team. They’re stealing adamantium for a mysterious buyer, and their leader, Sidewinder, played by Giancarlo Esposito, proves to be a force to be reckoned with.

January was a pretty quiet month at the box office, even by January standards, which are not particularly high. But as is customary in the 2010s and beyond, Marvel is here to save the day ... hopefully. "Captain America: Brave New World" is hitting theaters next weekend, and it's a lock to deliver 2025's first blockbuster opening, which theaters could sorely use. The question is, can it be a big success like a pre-pandemic superhero film? Or is Marvel Studios rolling the dice with this one?
Director Julius Onah's take on "Captain America" is currently eyeing an opening weekend in the $81 to $98 million range. That's more or less in line with earlier tracking numbers, which had the film taking in around $90 million, per The Hollywood Reporter. On the surface, that may seem underwhelming since we're accustomed to Marvel Cinematic Universe entries clearing $100 million in their debuts with ease. But that...

Ben Stiller apparently had to fight to get Adam Scott cast in the lead role for “Severance.”
Stiller told The Hollywood Reporter that it was paramount he convince streaming platform Apple TV+ to give Scott the chance to take on the character of Mark S. in the drama series. Stiller, who executive produces the show and directs several episodes, had previously directed Scott in his 2013 film “The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.”
“So much of the show [‘Severance’] is based in ‘The Office’ and ‘Parks and Rec’ and ‘Office Space,’ and that genre,” Stiller said, citing Scott’s tenure on NBC sitcom “Parks and Rec,” another workplace comedy. “The humor in the script that [creator] Dan [Erickson] wrote was in that world but had this other layer to it. Casting was about figuring out who could handle that.”
Even Scott knew it was a risk for him to be cast as the lead.

Exclusive: The story of California’s most notorious female serial killer, Dorothea Puente, is being turned into a TV series by former Sony Pictures Television Studios President Jeff Frost through his new production company, Bristol Circle Entertainment.
Smallville alum Michael Rosenbaum and his writing partner Jane Whitney are co-creators, writers and executive producers on the project, now in development, with Graves creator Joshua Michael Stern serving as co-creator, executive producer and showrunner. Frost is executive producing.
The potential series is based on the life of Puente. In 1980s, she opened a boarding house in Sacramento, inviting the poor, the mentally infirm and homeless to live there, often for free. Hailed as a generous benefactor, Puente, then in her 50s, was in reality murdering her boarders and continuing to cash their social security checks. After evading suspicion for years, in part because of her disarming, matronly demeanor, Puente was ultimately arrested.

Although season 1 of "Squid Game" was a massive critical and ratings success, there was one element that rubbed viewers the wrong way: the VIPs. In the seventh episode, "VIPs," a handful of (mostly American) rich guys visit the games to spectate. They're rude, jaded, and their jokes were weird and bad. A lot of this felt intentional, like part of the writers' commentary on how wealth can make you a worse person, but it still didn't make for pleasant viewing.
That's why a lot of fans were relieved when season 2 of "Squid Game" didn't involve those VIPs, but it turns out they celebrated too fast. The VIPs didn't appear simply because season 2 only covered the first few games of the competition; in season 1, they didn't show up until the penultimate game, and that sure seems to be the case again as we head into season 3. In a recent promotional tweet...

What happens in Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Episode 4? Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Hudson Thames) and Norman Osborn (Colman Domingo) in Marvel Animation’s Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-man
As the episode opens, Peter is stumbling through pitching a magnetic generator as part of his Oscorp internship, because apparently even quip-heavy superheroes like Spider-Man have trouble with public speaking. He’s called into a meeting with Norman, which has been happening more and more frequently to the confusion and suspicion of the other interns.

Joe Biden may now be regarded as one of the former presidents of the United States of America, but as it turns out, he has done a lot more for the country than just serve as its prez. For one, besides serving the country politically as its leader, the 82-year-old politician also made a cameo in Avengers: Endgame in a meme-atic turn of events.

But it seems like he isn’t done just yet gracing his presence on the screens. While his funny cameo role in the film, which was created as a meme by an editor cum filmmaker during the time of the presidential election results of 2020, was one thing, it is now being reported that Biden will have some really serious roles in Hollywood soon.

The entertainment industry has gone past the point of reinvention. Everything is a copy of a copy of a copy. But that doesn’t mean that filmmakers should use that as an excuse to not make their stories interesting. I mean, there’ve been numerous stories about some guy rising from nothing, becoming the biggest gangster of all time, and then coming to terms with the fact that they’ve turned into a monster beyond redemption. Yet, we keep getting movies like Agneepath, Raees, Kgf (Chapters 1 and 2), and the Pushpa duology. Why? Because Agneepath focused on the star power of Hrithik Roshan, Raees on Shah Rukh Khan’s magnetic charm, Kgf on Yash’s raw appeal, and Pushpa on Allu Arjun’s immense range to make the same old story feel unique. On top of that, all of them had some memorable songs and “elevation” moments. Does Bogota: City of the Lost...

It took several decades and a few dozen superhero films to open the genre to unique storytelling. Of course, Invincible and The Boys landed within a short timeline at Amazon, but both series have shown different approaches to the post-modern superhero critique. Based on the comic book series from Robert Kirkman Invincible continues to push the boundaries of what this devastation would feel like to those in the world. Throughout Invincible Season 3, questions of guilt and anger loom over Mark and his family. At the same time, there’s hope to carve one’s own path. It’s another excellent season, and one that reminds us that Invincible truly is one of the most emotionally mature shows on television.

Taylor Sheridan has really managed to endear himself to Hollywood, thanks to how his shows have managed to catch the attention of an audience that Hollywood considered completely lost. However, there is a large section of this fandom that is dealing with some dissonance when it comes to the show.

Given all the hype around Yellowstone, there was a section of the fandom that expected the show to follow in the footsteps of prestige TV classics like The Sopranos, Breaking Bad, and Ozark. However, what the fans ended up getting was a soap opera which is nowhere near as complex or deep as fans expected it to be.

You can’t call Saul if there’s no Saul to call.
And Saul Goodman came thisclose to never making it into Breaking Bad. According to Alan Sepinwall’s new book, Saul Goodman v. Jimmy McGill (excepted in Entertainment Weekly), network executives at AMC wanted to deep-six the character before he ever appeared.
Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan, writer/director Peter Gould and “an executive who shall remain nameless” were on a conference call, according to Gould. “And the question came up, basically, ‘We don’t like this character. Could we start again and come up with a different story for this episode?’”
It wasn’t like the show’s creators had invested a lot in Saul Goodman at that stage of the game. “His creation was all in service of Walt’s story,” said Gould. “We weren’t thinking, ‘Here’s an independent character who’s going to have a life of his own.

In the world of television, it's tough to do better than "Breaking Bad." Created by Vince Gilligan, the tale of a high school teacher with cancer who becomes a drug kingpin is widely considered one of the best TV shows ever made. It also spawned arguably one of the best spin-offs ever in the form of "Better Call Saul," which centers on Bob Odenkirk's crooked lawyer Saul Goodman. As hard as it may be to believe with the benefit of hindsight, though, there was almost a world where Saul never would have made it to air.

Bill Burr Calls Howie Mandel a “Hollywood Whore” After Billy Corgan Ambush During Podcast Appearance

Bill Burr actually wasn’t too thrilled with being ambushed by Billy Corgan on Howie Mandel’s podcast.
The actor and comedian made a recent appearance on an episode of the Howie Mandel Does Stuff podcast, where the host surprised him with Billy Corgan, the Smashing Pumpkins guitarist who previously revealed that the pair might be related.
However, Burr shared on The Rich Eisen Show on Monday that it wasn’t a good surprise, as he doesn’t “like talking about [my stuff publicly].”
“Howie did what he did because he is a Hollywood whore and he doesn’t care what happens,” he added. “He could’ve said something and he just brings up all that weirdness.”
Back in November, Corgan stopped by Mandel’s podcast, where he recalled his stepmother once telling him: “Do you know who Bill Burr is?… Bill Burr might be one of the children that your father sired...

The Covid-19 pandemic made life hell for everybody. The industry wasn’t exempted. Shootings came to a standstill. It ain’t easy getting work done when you have to maintain social distancing. While the pandemic was not making it easy, Better Call Saul had other hiccups along the way as well.
The final season of the show was shot when the pandemic was ravaging the world. Shooting had to be planned meticulously. The workforce had to be significantly toned down. And just when the makers of the Breaking Bad spinoff were dealing with all these headaches, they came face-to-face with one of their worst nightmares.

The highly acclaimed 1990s American police drama Homicide: Life On The Street will finally be available to stream in the UK thanks to Sky.
While late and much missed Andre Braugher may have won legions of fans in recent years for his pitch-perfect comic performance as Sgt Raymond Holt in sitcom Brooklyn Nine-Nine, it is his towering performance as Detective Frank Pendleton in Homicide: Life On The Street that he made his name.
The show was created by Paul Attanasio, who went on to become Oscar nominated for writing the screenplays for Robert Redford’s Quiz Show and Mike Newell’s Donnie Brasco. Attanasio based the show on the book Homicide: A Year On The Killing Streets by journalist David Simon, who himself went on to have huge success in television after creating The Wire.

The David and Goliath tale gets a new epic retelling in the trailer for Prime Video’s House of David

It’s perhaps the greatest underdog story next to Rocky. Heck, it’s used as a phrase to describe a match-up that seems so unevenly matched. The David and Goliath tale is one of the most popular stories in the Bible. It tells of a normal man who went up against the fiercest warrior in the land in the biggest size difference imaginable. Amazon’s House of David is a series that will retell the story in eight epic episodes. Three episodes will premiere on February 27, with one episode weekly thereafter. The trailer has just been released.
The official description reads,
“House Of David tells the story of the ascent of the biblical figure, David, who eventually becomes the most renowned and celebrated king of Israel. The series follows the once-mighty King Saul as he falls victim to his own pride. At the direction of God, the prophet Samuel anoints an unlikely,...

As Better Call Saul headed into its homestretch, fans were abuzz with how the acclaimed Breaking Bad prequel would end. What would happen to Saul-only characters like Kim Wexler and Lalo Salamanca? How much would we see of events from the Breaking Bad years, and how much more time would be spent post-Breaking Bad with Saul’s new identity as Gene from Cinnabon? And, most importantly, exactly when, how, and why would Jimmy McGill, a shady but mostly decent attorney, fully transform into the amoral version of Saul Goodman...

While Andy Samberg’s comedy series Brooklyn Nine-Nine has been one of the most appreciated sitcoms of the modern day, it’s particularly the I Want It That Way lineup scene from S5E17, Dfw that catapulted the show to great heights. Turning into an iconic, fan-favorite moment, the episode was celebrated for its creativity.

But sadly while the scene earned jaw-dropping amounts of views on social media, and got reused multiple times, the real stars behind the scene never got the opportunity to bathe in its success. Due to a lack of residuals, the creators and the actors of Brooklyn Nine-Nine failed to cash on the viral moment, much like Breaking Bad‘s Aaron Paul had highlighted.

Ella Maisy Purvis doesn’t need to have patience — she is Patience. The neurodivergent English actress has started off 2025 with a bang, thanks to her first-ever starring role in the six-part Eagle Eye Drama police series Patience on U.K. broadcaster Channel 4. And the 21-year-old is ready for more.
But let’s take this one step at a time. In Patience, which is adapted from the French show Astrid et Raphaëlle, Purvis plays Patience Evans, a young autistic woman who works in the criminal records department of the Yorkshire police department, cataloging and filing evidence from major cases. Craving routine and order, she finds solace and structure in her job.
But the self-taught criminologist also has an instinctive eye for crime scenes as Detective Bea Metcalf, played by Laura Fraser (Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, Doctor Who) discovers, opening a door to a new, exciting, but also scary world for Patience.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been on the trend of exploring an ambitious concept in its movies with the “Multiverse.” It started in some of the original comic stories, but now it’s really been used to capitalize on a bevy of crowd-pleasing moments. Other movies, such as Everything Everywhere All at Once, also use the multiverse to explore the different branches of life created by a single act. Even properties like Mortal Kombat are getting in on the game. While the “parallel universe” plot device has been used in many sci-fi stories in the past, back in 2001, a little action movie attempted to introduce the idea of the “multiverse” to a mainstream movie audience. Today, we take a look at Jet Li’s The One and see how it holds up with its own take on the concept.

The thriller is a broad, often unpredictable genre, each film within it largely defined by a litany of subgenres and genre mash-ups. But whether taking viewers into the far reaches of the future, the unfamiliar throes of eras past, or the depths of a criminal underworld that exists in our present society, what unifies this vast and widely varied category of films is their singular ability to make our hearts race from opening to closing credits.

Michael Chiklis is most (and deservedly) famous for playing corrupt LAPD detective Vic Mackey on "The Shield" -- but before that, he was more of a comedy actor. There's a reason he got the part of Ben Grimm/The Thing in director Tim Story's super family-friendly "Fantastic Four" films.
Before "The Shield," Chiklis' two leading TV roles were "The Commish" (about a wholesome police commissioner in a small New York town) and "Daddio" (a short-lived sitcom about a stay at home dad). Then he made a conscious choice to change his image, shaving his head, going to the gym and ultimately landing "The Shield" due to a run-in with his neighbor, series creator Shawn Ryan.
If this sounds familiar, or Chiklis' past roles make his performance as Mackey seem shocking, remember that Bryan Cranston also played goofy dad Hal on "Malcolm in the Middle" before he became Heisenberg on "Breaking Bad.

This article contains spoilers for "Star Trek: Section 31."Emperor Philippa Giorgiou's (Michelle Yeoh) return in "Star Trek: Section 31" has her associating with a pretty wild bunch. Her crew during the film's strange yet crucial special operation features a collection of fascinating characters, ranging from Omari Hardwick's Section 31 liaison Alok Sahar to Sam Richardson's chameloid character Quasi. Since the entire team is decidedly of the black ops variety, they're effectively expendable. The group's borderline redshirt nature is underlined fairly early in the movie when the seductive Deltan team member Melle attempts to subdue a target -- and is promptly shot to death.
Though Melle's demise is far from the only one in the film, it's definitely the earliest. Despite this, she still manages to show why she's a valuable member of the team, which allows actor Humberly González to make the most of the screen time she's given. Since...

Breaking Bad started as a small crime-drama series about a high school chemistry teacher’s advent into drug dealing. However, by the time it concluded with its fifth and final season, the series had transformed into a global phenomenon. As a result, it easily ranks as one of the best television shows of all time.

The series turned Jesse Pinkman actor Aaron Paul into a household name. Paul’s portrayal of Walter White’s trusted sidekick earned critical acclaim and remains popular even today. However, one scene in the series gave Paul such a hard time it left a mark on the actor. Moreover, the result is still harrowing to watch even a decade later, which only proves the merit of Paul’s performance.

Season 3 of Invincible is less than two weeks away and we know a few things for certain. First, Mark Grayson (Invincible himself) will have his blue and black suit. Comic book fans know this spells disaster for Mark. Second, the third season won’t be split into two parts like its predecessor was - it's good that this won’t happen again as the break in season 2 ruined the momentum. Lastly, there will be unintroduced characters. Among them are Powerplex, Dropkick, and, Fightmaster.
With the new characters came new voice actors. In a recent social media post, Skybound introduced the voice actors playing some of the new heroes and villains who’ll appear in Invincible season 3. Rather than just say who they are, I’ll give you a brief introduction of the character they’re playing without spoilers. Let’s begin.

Walter White was a terrible character in Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. However, the actor portraying White, Bryan Cranston, is not who he seems to be on the television screens!

Although oftentimes vocal about his opinions, Bryan Cranston doesn’t really hold back his words while talking about politics. This time, his aim was at Donald Trump’s slogan.
Bryan Cranston feels America was never great to begin with!
No. His comments will not be taken out of context since although the actor did say this statement, he meant it in terms of what the history of America has been like over countless years.

The third season of Invincible premieres in just a couple weeks! Prime Video has thus far done a fantastic job adapting Robert Kirkman's vibrant superhero comic for the small screen. Part of that success can be chocked up to the incredible voice cast. Oscar nominee Steven Yuen plays Mark Grayson, aka Invincible, a teenager who's starting out into the exciting, violent world of superheroism. His father Omni-Man, the breakout character of the show, is played by gravel-voiced icon J. K. Simmons, and his mother Debbie by Emmy winner Sandra Oh. Other notable voices include Mark Hamill, Seth Rogen, Zachary Quinto, Walton Goggins, Zazie Beetz, Clancy Brown, Nicole Byer, Jason Mantzoukas, Jonathan Groff, Ben Schwartz, Sterling K. Brown and Family Matters' own Reginald VelJohnson.
It's an incredibly impressive cast for what at first glance might look like an updated version of the kinds of Saturday morning cartoons kids watched back in the day.

Elon Musk is one of the most praiseworthy as well as controversial individuals in the industry, depending on the person judging him. While he does have a lot of people call him out over his infamous actions and statements, he also has a massive cult that just doesn’t seem to be questioning his actions and jumps to his defense every time he gets scrutinized.

But as surprising as it may be, his massive cult doesn’t remain all that baffling while remembering how Breaking Bad once proved that fans could actually be pretty dumb. This was evident from how fans were willing to take the side of the lead character down until the very end – even when they knew he wasn’t always right – just because he established himself early on in the series.

“Our 2024 debut in L.A. was a major success, and we look forward to continuing to introduce the wider Hollywood creative community to what makes Peabody the premier award for media that matters,” said Jeffrey Jones, executive director of Peabody. “In such polarized times, the stories that Peabody honors are unifying in their clear call to address injustices and see humanity in all its beauty and messiness. Honoring such programs remains our goal.”

While the growing industry trends have led to a gradual decline in sitcoms’ popularity, which once dominated the small screen, this has done little to impact Chuck Lorre’s illustrious run as the king of sitcoms. Although Lorre has helmed several acclaimed shows, including Two and a Half Men and the recent Young Sheldon spin-off, Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, nothing has come close to The Big Bang Theory‘s success.

As for what made the sitcom stand out from the rest of its peers, per Jim Parsons, it boiled down to the show’s structure, which didn’t prioritize viewers’ commitment to the entire show.

After being fan-cast in several different superhero/villain roles - including Professor Charles Xavier - over the years, we got word that Giancarlo Esposito had officially joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe in an undisclosed role last summer.
It was later confirmed that Esposito would make his debut in Captain America: Brave New World, but despite set photos giving us a pretty good look at his mysterious character, we only learned that he'd actually be playing the villainous Seth Voelker, aka Sidewinder, shorty before the first trailer debuted during Sdcc.
Based on what we've seen and heard, this will be a significantly different take on the Serpent Society member Marvel Comics fans will be used to, but Esposito has now hinted that we might see him adopt more of the character's "serpent persona" in future MCU projects.
