  • Opening credits (and packaging) blame Vivid's "The Female Gardener" on director "Chuck Lords", whoever that is. My supposition that he is perhaps just an Alan Smithee or Nanker Phelge (see: Rolling Stones) is heightened by the fact that closing credits crawl gives writing & directing credit to Paul Thomas instead, and indeed, we see PT briefly directing the actors in the BTS short subject.

In any event, this lousy video is nothing to fight over or want for inclusion in one's c.v. It's merely a make-work vehicle for the studio's stars Sunny Leone and Mikayla, with hoped-for knee-jerk audience sampling based on their names, rather than interesting content.

Title character is in fact Daisy Marie, who speaks Spanish as the Chicano stereotype puttering around in Leone's garden. She lapses into all-American porn- speak in English (I would have preferred Esperanto, but the Adult Industry long ago settled upon "Oh, yeah!", "Oh, God!", "F*ck yeah!", "Don't stop!" and of course "Right there!" as the lingua franca of international porn).

Very loosely directed (maybe two directors did actually work on this junk at different times on the porn assembly-line) opus has a mere scent of plot, revolving around Mikayla's jealousy. She and Leone are a couple living together in Leone's house, but Mikayla is the working bread-winner while Leone is posited as a lazybones. Mikayla has a hair-trigger temper and her verbal abuse of star Sunny is enough to give her a black hat for the duration.

Beyond that, crystallized in a couple of shouting match scenes heavily weighted toward Sunny's side of the argument, nothing happens. There is a pool party/orgy to kill off tons of running time, and the finale is of course Sunny bedding down with her pretty employee Daisy. Example of how deficient this video is structurally, earlier Sunny has a threesome involving Daisy and a huge strap-on-dildo, yet later on when Sunny seduces the shy gardener it is presented as if they had never interacted before. Typical of the "who cares?" approach.

Though feature plays as a lesbian story, two guys are thrown in for bareback sex (a surprise given Vivid's usual stress upon condoms both for safe-sex campaigning and to sell a few to their fans via the website) at the pool party, Derrick Pierce and one of my least favorite performers of the era, Marcus Leon.

The video would have some use if not for the fact that fans have literally dozens of other opportunities to see their faves Sunny and Mikayla in action, even one directed by Sunny and also featuring Daisy with them.
