Mike O'Donnell is ungrateful for how his life turned out. He gets a chance to rewrite his life when he tried to save a janitor near a bridge and jumped after him into a time vortex.
When Ned Gold goes to meet the principal for the second time, he is dressed up flamboyantly as he called it "peacocking." This is a tongue-in-cheek reference to Pick Up Artists.
Principal Jane Masterson:
Ned Gold: Hi... hello.
Principal Jane Masterson: uhmm... I think we're good here.
Ned Gold: I think our hands just made a baby.
Mike O' Donnell: Excuse my dad, he's not used to talking... to attractive women.
Principal Jane Masterson: Well. thank you...
Mike O' Donnell: Mark...
Principal Jane Masterson: For that flattering yet inappropriate comment.
Ned Gold: Before we get ...
Principal Jane Masterson: ...
Ned Gold: ...
After the initial meeting with Principal Masterson, when Ned and Mike, in his bedazzled shirt, stand at the top of the stairs talking about how awful Mike looks, the same teens (girl in a pink hoodie) pass them two shots later.
The closing credits include photos of most of the main cast and crew when they were actually 17-years-old.
