Mike O'Donnell is ungrateful for how his life turned out. He gets a chance to rewrite his life when he tried to save a janitor near a bridge and jumped after him into a time vortex.
Zac Efron called Matthew Perry for help on his lines and mimicking some of his movements to give a more authentic performance.
Mike O' Donnell:
She's just nervous... it's creepy, right?
Alex O'Donnell: A little bit.
Mike O' Donnell: She's so old; it's like...
Alex O'Donnell: You dance with all your friends' moms?
Mike O' Donnell: Pretty much.
When Mike grabs a lightsabre and shouts, "Ned, Ned, Ned, I'm telling you...stop it!...Now!" his arms are extended out with the lightsabre held aloft, and his tie hangs properly. It cuts to Ned turning on his lightsabre's glow effect, with Mike and his raised lightsabre in the foreground. In the next shot, as Mike's arms are still extended out, his tie is now dangling over his right arm.
The closing credits include photos of most of the main cast and crew when they were actually 17-years-old.
