Given that he's probably directed more Adult videos than anyone else, Jim Powers is quite well-known in the industry, but the more I see of his varied work the more I appreciate his ability. "The Hitchhiker" is an out-of-print DVD from the late, great Sin City label that is well worth scurrying around to find a copy.
That's because Powers has negotiated the perils and clichés of the Teen Sex genre with great skill, yielding a story that holds together, is fun and has nubile beauties in consistently arousing scenes. Result is so far superior to the all-sex approach in vogue merely a decade later that it could be instructive to today's pornographers who evidently have forgotten how to craft an adult movie.
Van Damage (who is satirically mocked in the lengthy BTS short subject concerning his deserving an industry award for his performance here) plays a guy who picks up Chelsie Rae hitchhiking on a remote desert highway, and is soon under the spell of the young vixen.
He takes her home to wash up before being dropped off at the local bus terminal, but her parading around his house nude quickly spurs a sexual liaison. Next morning he's about to wake her up to bid her goodbye as he heads back to office for work, when he relents and lets her sleep in peace.
Co-worker Lee Stone thinks Van is crazy, and recounts in flashback how he got skunked (robbed blind) after picking up two cuties (Isabella and busty Allison Pierce) for a threesome. Both youngsters exhibit amazing deep-throat skills imbibing Stone's mighty member in a show-stopping, acrobatic sex romp.
Similarly, another co-worker Jenner offers a flashback of his own tumultuous run-in with a Thumb Tripper played by stunning Rebeca Linares. Feature climaxes in a very odd Satanic ritual taking place on a pentagram-painted floor, as Chelsie proposes a human sacrifice of Van's off-again/on-again fiancée Alicia Angel, with guest star Alex Sanders presiding as lead Satanist. This devolves into a 5-person orgy that features a very young and dark brunette incarnation of Lexi Belle.
Led by Rae, this is quality humping with a heavy emphasis on anal-sex, and fits neatly at times with director Powers' history of gonzo porn as well as a watered down version of his classic "Perverted Stories" series. Today's fans have no patience for story material or characterization, but I would point to this minor classic as an example of how even a minimum of same adds immeasurably to the success of the XXX content.
