1976. Montreal. Eight people who wanted to see and be seen at the trendiest disco will be juggling fame and anonymity until they will be forced to make sober choices in an era when excess was the norm, and when disco was king.
The Starlight nightclub is inspired by the The Lime Light, a real 1970s Montreal nightclub. Some scenes were filmed at 1258 Rue Stanley, now home of the dance club "La Boom" and the strip club "Chez Parée". Director Daniel Roby told the Montreal Mirror "We were so lucky because we got to shoot the club scenes in the actual location where the Limelight was and recreate a real disco club on the dance-floor where all that history actually happened."
Inside the restaurant, a recent type ''K''wet chemical fire extinguisher is clearly shown on the wall. Those type of extinguishers were only made available widely in the late 1990's. Back in the 1970's, only dry powder type extinguishers were used for restaurants.
