Zombie Apocalypse in WWE: Triple H Really Thought Outside of Box During the Pandemic Era
Image
Over the years, WWE has been working tirelessly to forge pro-wrestling in the word’s barest sense and has imparted a cinematic aura to it. When the storyline starts exhibiting a certain aspect between the superstars, the authority tends to add an element of drama by tweaking the stipulation.

Amidst the popular stipulations which has been a stern test for the WWE superstars include the likes of Hell in a Cell, Last Man Standing, I Quit, No Holds Barred, Survivor Series Elimination match, Steel Cage match, Barbed Wire Steel Cage match and the list simply goes on and on. However, adding drama and spice to the list, there are fascinating stipulations including the likes of boneyard matches, lumberjack matches and whatnot.

Matthias Schweighöfer on Teaming With Fatih Akin for ‘Amrum,’ Tom Cruise Stories and Getting Zack Snyder’s Seal of Approval | Video
Image
Matthias Schweighöfer, star of Fatih Akin’s “Amrum,” wanted to work with the acclaimed “Edge of Heaven” and “In the Cut” director for years before an opportunity presented itself, he told Steve Pond during TheWrap’s Cannes Conversations in partnership with Brand Innovators.

The German Schweighöfer had been building a career of his own not just as an actor in projects like “Valkyrie” and Zack Snyder’s “Army of the Dead,” but as a director in his own right with films like “The Manny” and “You Are Wanted.”

Things worked out for Schweighöfer and Akin to work together after “he called me again and said, ‘Matthias, there is this one cool thing called ‘Amrum.’ I didn’t want to direct it. I only would produce it, but now I have to direct it. And I would love you to play a part in this,'” Schweighöfer recalled.

The resulting film...

Simon Pegg Shuts Down Possible 'Shaun of the Dead' Sequel From Edgar Wright
Image
Over the years, the zombie genre has gone through several mainstream approaches that have ended up repelling some fans of the universe of the undead who crave human flesh. The Walking Dead shot off in all directions and revived the flames of the genre. Films like Train to Busan and Army of the Dead recently showed there's still love for the living dead. Nevertheless, to bring back all the fans who don't like these conventional takes, all we need is a fresh twist on the world of zombies. Something like what Shaun of the Deaddid back in 2004. The problem is that, according to the co-writer and lead, Simon Pegg, we should not expect a sequel anytime soon.

It's been over 20 years since the release of Shaun of the Dead, the zombie romantic comedy that can only be described as a disruptive force within the genre. Since then, Pegg and director...

Ballerina Stills Spotlight Intense Flamethrower Sequence That Shocked Ana de Armas
Image
Ballerina opens in just about a month, and as the marketing campaign ramps up, we've received a handful of new stills from the actioner, featuring Ana de Armas as Eve Macarro, a young new Ruska Roma assassin that is out for revenge.

Like with any John Wick film, this one will also showcase extensive stunt work and larger than life action set pieces, none bigger than a sequence that will see the film's Academy Award-nominated star wield a flamethrower to take on a horde of baddies.

Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, de Armas detailed her rehearsal for the flamethrower sequence and how the whole experince absolutely shook her to her core. "I remember the first day the stunt team was practicing with the fire, and they told me to go do it before the shoot, and I said, 'No, no, no, I'll be fine,' and they got the main fire guy that gets burned,...

Zack Snyder’s 21-Year-Old Masterpiece Is Now Streaming on Netflix That Really Shouldn’t Have Worked
Image
Zack Snyder is quite the controversial filmmaker of modern cinema. We’re familiar with his stylized approach to movies, and he’s made a brand of that for himself, but one of the biggest criticisms in his works is his own inconsistency. It’s safe to say that he is sort of the hit-and-miss type of director.

He is widely known for his efforts on the Dceu and the 300 franchise, but many sometimes forget he was also the one behind the zombie apocalypse title, Dawn of the Dead. This was his directorial debut and, surprisingly, the best work of his career.

Zack Snyder’s Dawn of the Dead defied all expectations

This May, Netflix offers new shows to keep subscribers entertained throughout the month, and one of the titles added to its library is Zack Snyder’s 2004 horror flick Dawn of the Dead. Those who haven’t watched this classic,...

Protagonist Pictures will be launching worldwide sales at the upcoming Cannes Film Market.

The summer takes a turn when their bunk counselor Liz doesn’t arrive for breakfast one morning, and Zoe’s counselor crush Amy (Purnell) tells everyone Liz had to leave for a “family emergency.” But Zoe doesn’t buy...

10 Overrated Netflix Movies Exposed
Image
Netflix isn’t just a streaming service, but also a production house behind original movies and series; the streaming giants have proven they can deliver cinematic gems like The Irishman and The Ballad of Buster Scruggs that earned them the status of a legitimate player in the film industry.

When it comes to movies, like any art form, they have their highs and lows. Not every film becomes a sensation because of its storytelling or direction; sometimes, it’s the star power of the cast or the endless promotion from the team that takes a not-so-great movie from the back of the list to the spotlight.

Let’s look at some movies that have gained massive attention not for being a great movie with a story but due to sheer viral moments, a star-filled cast, and endless promotion. These movies prove that not all films deserve the hype they get.

Netflix released their Summer 2025 movie lineup this morning, and while you won’t find any real horror on the list, there was one movie that at least caught our attention.

“What happened? Who built that wall and why? Without any chance of outside help, they must band together to find a way out. Can they solve the mystery of the wall in time — and survive?”

“They literally told me to leave”: I Am Glad Dave Bautista Didn’t Listen to This Harsh Criticism on His 1st “Miserable” Trial for WCW
Image
Dave Bautista hit the gym from a young age and was a very jacked-up 16-year-old, as his old photos prove. But that doesn’t mean he had it easy getting into professional wrestling. Recalling his first audition, Bautista shared that he was told he would never make it in wrestling. That was a pretty rude comment from WCW, but I’m glad he proved them all wrong by becoming one of the fan-favorite wrestlers in the WWE.

Bautista began his career in wrestling in 1999 and joined the WWE in 2000. He has two WWE Championship titles, four World Heavyweight Championship titles, and four Tag Team titles. He had his final wrestling match at WrestleMania 35, where he went up against fellow Evolution member Triple H.

Milla Jovovich and Michelle Rodriguez in Resident Evil (2002)
The Sony panel was held at the CinemaCon event last night, and while the Anaconda reboot was surprisingly left out of the presentation, they did take a moment to provide updates on a couple of their other upcoming horror projects: the Resident Evil movie that’s coming our way from Barbarian director Zach Cregger and a new Insidious sequel!

Sony will be releasing Cregger’s Resident Evil movie on September 18, 2026, and it was recently revealed that Austin Abrams of Euphoria, who worked with Cregger on his upcoming film Weapons, is in early talks to star in the film. No details have been revealed about the screenplay Cregger has written with Shay Hatten (Army of the Dead), but we have previously heard that the story apparently harkens back to the original Capcom game’s horror roots.

The Snyder project marks the mixed martial arts giant’s latest best on a big-screen, immersive experience after the UFC, led by CEO Dana White, took over the Sphere in Las Vegas in September 2024 with its 160,000-square-foot curved LED screen for its first-ever live sporting event. Snyder, his wife and producing partner, Deborah Snyder, and Wesley Coller will produce Brawler through their Stone Quarry banner, with Turki Alalshikh and UFC chief content officer Craig Borsari executive producing.

Image
Fans of Capcom's renowned survival horror video game were ecstatic to recently learn that Sony was contemplating a reboot of the original Resident Evil film series, which starred Mila Jovovich.

New Mystery Series 'Vanished' Casts 'The Big Bang Theory's Kaley Cuoco
Image
The Big Bang Theory star Kaley Cuoco has landed her next TV role, starring alongside Sam Claflin in the European mystery series Vanished, where she will be tasked with piecing together clues to solve a missing persons case – and in this case, that missing person is her boyfriend. According to TVLine, the couple's romantic getaway to Paris is derailed when Claflin's character Tom disappears at some point during their train journey to the South of France, leaving Cuoco's Alice to pick up the pieces and attempt to solve the mystery.

If this was Agatha Christie's Murder on the Orient Express (and we certainly hope for Tom's sake it isn't), it sounds like Alice would be the self-appointed Hercule Poirot of the investigation as she desperately tries to establish her partner's whereabouts. The official logline for the series suggests that Alice will have a difficult time getting the trip back on track,...

Ballerina: Ana de Armas Wields A Flamethrower & Faces Off Against John Wick In Fiery New Trailer
Image
"Rules and consequences."

Lionsgate has finally launched the brand new trailer for their upcoming action-thriller Ballerina, offering a killer new look at Academy Award-nominee Ana de Armas (Knives Out; No Time to Die; Ghosted) heading into action as Eve Macarro, and it looks like her mission just got considerably more difficult than we imagined as she'll soon find herself up against Baba Yaga himself!

Yes, as the trailer reveals, The Director (Anjelica Huston) will send John Wick (Keanu Reeves) after Eve, in a last-ditch effort to stop her vendetta. John will offer her a choice, leave or die, and the battle commences. It certainly adds an interesting wrinkle to the film, as we were all previously under the assumption that Wick and Macarro would be allies and fight together, which could obviously still happen, but it looks like things will head into a different direction before the credits roll.

The film's official synopsis reads,...

‘Ballerina’ Trailer: Ana de Armas Has Killer Showdown With Keanu Reeves’ John Wick in Gory Spinoff
Image
It’s now only a few months until the “John Wick” franchise is back on the big screen — this time, with the Oscar-nominated Ana de Armas in the lead.

The new trailer for “Ballerina” shows de Armas in action as Eve Macarro, a Russian ballerina-turned-assassin with an eye for vengeance against the men who killed her family. But de Armas isn’t alone, as Keanu Reeves makes his anticipated return as John Wick.

“Ballerina” takes place in between “John Wick: Chapter 3 — Parabellum” and “John Wick: Chapter 4,” expanding the assassin role originally played by Unity Phelan with de Armas’ take on the character. The film comes two years since audiences saw Reeves in the fourth entry, which became the highest-grossing installment in the series with a worldwide gross of over $440 million. Altogether, the first four “John Wick” films grossed over $1 billion worldwide.

This latest installment in the “John Wick...

Shudder had pull for “Push,” as the all-horror-all-the-time streamer has acquired the home invasion thriller ahead of its U.S. premiere at Cinequest Film Festival in San Jose, Calif. later this month. Zach Cregger
In 2023, New Line Cinema went all-in on a partnership with Barbarian (watch it Here) writer/director Zach Cregger and Barbarian’s producers at BoulderLight Pictures. New Line came out the winner in a bidding war over Weapons, which they’re planning to give a theatrical release date on January 16, 2026, and they’re also paying Cregger a sum in the eight figure range to make the movie. In addition to working with them on Weapons, New Line signed a first look deal with BoulderLight Pictures, tasking the company with developing high concept genre projects for them, and they gave a greenlight to the sci-fi thriller Companion, which was produced by BoulderLight and Cregger and released at the end of January. But while Cregger is collaborating with New Line Cinema, he’s also making a Resident Evil movie for Constantin Film – and while New Line’s parent company Warner Bros. participated in...

Zach Cregger’s ‘Resident Evil’ Movie Lands at Sony
Image
Resident Evil is back in Sony’s hands.

The studio has won a hotly contested bidding war to nab not only the rights to the horror action movie franchise based on the popular video games, but also for the opportunity to work with hot filmmaker Zach Cregger. The studio has set a release date of Sept. 18, 2026 for the project.

Cregger, the writer-director behind acclaimed horror movie Barbarian and the upcoming ensemble piece Weapons, is attached to write and direct.

The franchise, which had called Sony label Screen Gems home since releasing the first movie in 2002, found itself in a unique position of being up for grabs in January, inciting an intense bidding war. In the end, Sony prevailed, this time via its Columbia Pictures banner, allowing for a bigger budget.

Constantin Film, which has held the screen rights to the title since the late 1990s and has been behind the previous movies,...

The Oscars Cheer Moment | An ode to the Academy’s two strangest awards
John Bailey
As we prepare for the 97th Academy Awards this weekend, here’s a reminder of the Oscars Cheer Moment, and the weirdest year in the body’s history.

On Valentine’s Day 2022, the American Academy of Motion Pictures unveiled a pair of awards so prestigious they could only be accurately communicated via hashtag.

#OscarsFanFavorite and #OscarsCheerMoment were the latest in a string of attempts from the world’s most famous awards body to stay popular and relevant. The last was in 2018 when, in an attempt to reverse the ratings freefall the ceremony had found itself in over the last decade, Film Academy president John Bailey proposed an official Popular Film category – the first new competition since Best Animated Film in 2001.

Months later, the award was slipped quietly into the organisation’s back pocket, after Academy members and the public at large united to declare the idea a silly one. Making a popular film,...

Is Zack Snyder Joining James Gunn's DC Universe? The Real Reason Behind That Viral Photo
Image
It's the picture that launched a thousand rumors and frenzied meltdowns among fans. Recently, the very socially active James Gunn tweeted out a picture that promptly sent the comic book fanbase into a tailspin. Although a longtime friend and creative collaborator of Zack Snyder, the filmmaker who was last given the reins to the DC empire and famously parted ways with the franchise following the release of "Justice League" in 2017, Gunn's status as the new co-ceo of DC Studios (alongside Peter Safran) has sparked a rivalry of sorts between the two. Never mind that they actually worked together to help bring Snyder's "Dawn of the Dead" remake to life back in 2004 and, by all accounts, get along swimmingly. A combination of the very different storytelling approaches between the two directors, Gunn's crossover into the DC world with 2021's "The Suicide Squad," and that Marvel/DC rivalry stemming from...
