- The story revolves around two people who miss the last local train at 1:40 am and how it changes the course of their lives forever. The protagonist Nilesh (Abhay Deol) works in a call center firm cultivated by the IT industry. Night shifts, booze, after office parties seem to be the order of the day. When Nilesh misses his last train from Kurla to Vikroli, he is rudely shoved off by a police constable who wants to keep the station clean from anti-social elements. Nowhere to go, he strolls outside for an auto-rickshaw, where he bumps into a beautiful damsel in distress, Madhu (Neha Dhupia), also wanting a ride to Vikroli. As it turns out, the rickshaws are on strike due to a bomb blast earlier in the day. Nilesh and Madhu are forced to walk to the next rickshaw stand. Nilesh stops by a local pub and is unable to resist his temptation to have a drink or two.
Meanwhile a man named Bajaj has a meeting with a underworld Bhai (Sajan Bhai) at Kurla, but the location has been changed at the last minute to Vashi because Bajaj's wife has disclosed the meeting location to the police. Money is to exchanged for Bajaj's sibling who has been kidnapped. Bajaj reaches the location & meets Sajan Bhai. He exchanges the money & takes his son away.
In the bar, Nilesh finds his old friend Patrick who has gotten rich in the last 1 yr by gambling & dealing in other illegal activities. Nilesh is a pro at cards himself & Patrick invites Nilesh to join the game on his money. Nilesh accepts. On the table is another Mumbai don called Ponappa who is notorious for 56 murders & is ultra religious. Nilesh immediately hits the winning straps & is up almost 50 Lakhs in just 2 hands. But he leaves to get Madhu & Ponappa cheats Patrick to fleece him of all his belongings.
Nilesh discovers Madhu being forced upon by a local goon in the bathroom. Nilesh attacks the goon, but the goon himself slips & breaks his neck on the washbasin. The goon dies. Nilesh is captured & finds that the goon was Ponappa's younger brother & that Madhu is actually a whore who was servicing the goon.
Ponappa decides to kill Nilesh, but Nilesh is saved at the last minute by a police raid. Ponappa is angry at his brother's death & insults inspector Malwankar. Malwankar decides to seal the joint & arrest Ponappa. Ponappa is also betrayed by his 2nd in command, Bhujang, that leads to his arrest. Bhujang bribes Malwankar to get rid of Nilesh & Madhu.
Malwankar takes both to a secluded spot outside Mumbai to depose of them. Madhu says she has to urinate & escapes. Malwankar sends his men after her & using that Nilesh escapes as well. Malwankar shoots Patrick when he makes fun of Malwankar for losing both. Malwankar recaptures them both. Now Madhu offers Malwankar more money than Bhujang to let her go. Malwankar agrees to take Madhu to her home in Dharavi for the money. There Madhu's handler & pimp agrees to pay Rs 8 Lakh to Malwankar to release both Nilesh and Madhu. Madhu had pleaded with her pimp to save Nilesh as Nilesh fought to save her life. Meanwhile, Sajan Bhai, who works for Ponappa, is returning with Bajaj's money to Ponappa's HQ. On the way he is intercepted by a man named Rafiq & his accomplices, who shoots Sajan Bhai & his men & take the money bag.
The pimp asks Malwankar to accompany her to Mangesh Chilka's place for the money. Malwankar had encountered Mangesh's brother a month back, but still goes. Mangesh is a gay don & agrees to give 8 Lakhs to the pimp in exchange for Nilesh.
Rafiq turns out to be working for Mangesh & brings the money bag to his HQ while the pimp & Madhu are leaving the building. Madhu recognizes Rafiq & calls Bhujang & Ponappa. Meanwhile Mangesh has given instructions to his staff that they need to kill Malwankar & the cops after Madhu & the pimp leave the building.
