Rose McGowan spoke publicly for the first time on Friday since accusing film producer Harvey Weinstein of alleged sexual assault.
While addressing a large audience at the Women’s Convention in Detroit, Michigan, the 44-year-old actress vowed to keep fighting sexual misconduct in Hollywood and urged women to take back their power.
"I have been silenced for 20 years," McGowan said. "I have been slut-shamed. I have been harassed. I have been maligned. And you know what? I'm just like you."
“What happened to me behind the scenes happens to all of us in this society, and that cannot stand and it will not stand,” she continued. "We are free. We are strong. We are one massive, collective voice.”

Rose McGowan kicked off the Women’s Convention in Detroit on Oct. 27 with a powerful opening speech in which she called on all women to rise up and “clean out.” The public appearance was McGowan’s first since accusing Harvey Weinstein of rape in a tweet posted October 12. The actress has used the social media platform to speak out against Weinstein in the wake of over 60 sexual harassment claims made against him.

“We are all Me Too’s,” McGowan said, referring to the hashtag that encourages women to share their own stories of harassment. “I have been silenced for 20 years. I have been slut shamed. The humans of the new Pacific Rim movie are good and all but let's talk these mechs that they are piloting because let's face it, I like the Jaegers better than humans.
Everyone is building up excitement for the upcoming sequel to the Pacific Rim Pacific Rim Uprising. Which the official trailer was shown at Nycc 2017 and you can watch that here. We’re starting to get more detail about the characters Mako, Jake, and Lambert. Jake Pentacost apparently was a Jaeger pilot who left the program abandoning his copilot Major Nate Lambert who has some animosity against Jake for that. Jake has apparently in his time away been a bit of a criminal selling weapons on the black market. He never felt he was living up to his father Stacker Pentacost’s expectations and had jealousy towards his adopted sister Mako who has now become a trainer for the modern day Jaeger pilots.

Beside glorious vineyards and lush countryside on the Greek island of Evia, a barbed wire fence encircles a dusty, barren former military encampment where 1,000 Syrian refugees are housed in metal containers. People walk slowly at the Ritsona camp, with few places to go, and hopelessness fills the air as no one knows when or if they can go home or be permanently resettled. Yet nine women have set to work on two looms, weaving mats with red, black, silver, orange and lime green threads. Not really threads. Cloth from life jackets worn by refugees as they fled Syria. And they are not just mats.

Everything we've seen about season three of The Leftovers seems to indicate that shit is about to go down! That's further backed up by this new promo advertising the series on HBO. You'll see a lot of what was shown in the first trailer but also some very brief flashes of new footage as well. If you're as obsessed with this series as I am you'll appreciate it just as much as I did.

Many are called, few are chosen: The number of high-quality, awards-worthy documentaries seems to grow every year, but there’s still only 15 slots on the Oscar documentary shortlist. That will be announced December 5; the final five will be revealed on nominations morning, January 24. This year, 145 features were submitted.
This is the white-knuckle portion of the final campaign stretch, as documentary filmmakers and distributors hope their movies make it onto documentary branch voters’ viewing piles before they file their final grades. Those with the advantage are high-profile established hits and festival award-winners with the right combination of engaging accessibility, artful filmmaking, and gravitas.
So what’s looking like a strong bet? It’s a diverse list in more ways than one. Here are my picks for the Top 15, which are not listed in order of likelihood.

Russian editing whizzes Sergei Eisenstein, Vsevolod Pudovkin, and Lev Kuleshov proved it in the earliest days of silent film: Truth rests in the eye of the beholder. In Fred Schepisi’s 1988 true drama, “A Cry in the Dark,” Meryl Streep starred as the woman who famously cried “a dingo took my baby!” to resounding disbelief in Australia. Police and others looked at her inexpressive face, surrounded by a cowl of dark hair, and decided she was guilty of murdering her child.
Similarly, the court of public opinion — as well as the courts of Italy — declared that 20-year-old party girl Amanda Knox, studying abroad in Perugia, murdered her roommate, Meredith Kercher. It took eight years, but in 2015 the Italian Supreme Court finally declared her innocent, and that she had no motive.
Who supplied her motives? According to Brian McGinn and Rod Blackhurst’s documentary “Amanda Knox” (Netflix, September 30), which took five...

Unlike Making A Murderer or any given episode of 48 Hours, Netflix’s Amanda Knox doesn’t seek to build mystery or suspense: One of the first shots is of Knox herself, talking straight to camera, clearly not behind bars or in prison clothes. She introduces her nearly unbelievable story with a frightening binary: “Either I’m a psychopath in sheep’s clothing, or I am you.” By “you” she means any innocent person who might find themselves in prison for something they didn’t do. Amanda Knox is her story, it bears her name, and the documentary wants viewers to believe her. That’s easy to do because the evidence is clear, but it doesn’t make the story itself any less harrowing or fascinating.

★★★☆☆ "Either I'm a psychopath in sheep's clothing, or I am you." Delivered by the principal subject of Rod Blackhurst and Brian McGinn's Netflix Original documentary, the chilling ambiguity of this opening gambit is the knife-edge course taken to ascertain the truth of Meredith Kercher's 2007 murder and a shambolic eight-year legal process. Amanda Knox, which premiered at Toronto and streams from 30 September, sees shifts from guilt to innocence and back with metronomic, unfathomable regularity.

Amanda Knox has now twice had her murder conviction overturned in Italian court, but are there still questions surrounding the 29-year-old's possible involvement in her roommate Meredith Kercher's death?
A new Netflix documentary, Amanda Knox, digs into the 2007 murder of Kercher, a British exchange student, who was rooming with Knox in Perugia, Italy.
Two dueling trailers for the film explore whether Knox was merely drawn into an 8-year nightmare, or got away with the crime.
In "Believe Her," an emotional Knox explains, "Before Italy, I had a happy life."

“Believe her” or “suspect her.” Those are the options given by two trailers Netflix dropped on Today for their upcoming documentary “Amanda Knox.” The film delves into the case, subsequent conviction, and eventual acquittal of Knox, 29, along with her ex-boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito, for the murder of her roommate Meredith Kercher while studying abroad in Perugia, Italy in 2007.
Knox spent 4 years in Italian prison, until the case was appealed on Oct. 4, 2011, but the case continued to be challenged from both sides, leading to a second conviction and acquittal in 2014-2015.

Netflix has shared two distinct trailers for its upcoming “Amanda Knox” documentary — one teaser titled “Believe Her” and a second named “Suspect Her.” Readers can watch the “Believe Her” video above and the “Suspect Her” version at the bottom of this post. The latter gets a bit chilling. “That’s everyone’s nightmare,” Amanda Knox, who participated, hauntingly says of her circumstances in the “Suspect Her” promotional vehicle. “Either I’m a psychopath in sheep’s clothing, or I am you.” In other words, Knox is either a cold-blooded murderer, or a completely innocent scapegoat in the wrong place at the wrong time.

In a little less than three months from now Star Wars: The Force Awakens will arrive in theaters. Surprisingly, there are a staggering number of big mysteries that are still unknown, especially given that the franchise in question is Star Wars.
Since The Force Awakens is a J.J. Abrams film, we shouldn’t be too shocked that secrets surrounds the storyline of the movie. Abrams has always relied on his “mystery box” approach with filmmaking, for better or worse. But even so, Star Wars has been a force with pop culture presence for over 30 years – so why are we less than three months away from the release of Episode VII and still don’t know what to expect?
If we roll back the clock 17 years to the time leading up to the release of The Phantom Menace, the internet still knew more about the environments, plot lines and backgrounds...

In case the title didn’t tip you off, please note that this article will contain full spoilers for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.
There’s been a lot of talk lately about how Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain‘s story stacks up against other entries in the series. It’s not difficult to see why. As possibly the final Metal Gear Solid game, and certainly the final one by its creator and mastermind, Hideo Kojima, Mgsv bears the significant weight of being the last true game in a series which has the prescience of being one of the first to offer mature and involving storylines in gaming.
Back in 1998, there weren’t a lot of places you could go in this industry that might even give you believable characterizations or a well-realized narrative. The original Metal Gear Solid managed to accomplish both, even as it...

But strange doings are afoot: The crew of a fishing boat disappears, dead whales wash up on the shore, and a local lobsterman catches a mysterious tentacled creature in his trap.
Soon it becomes clear to O'Shea and Nolan that some unnatural creatures are out there, and they're hungry. But it turns out the alien monsters terrorizing the town are allergic...

John Legend and Chrissy Teigen are letting us all in on their love! In the music video for "I Am You," the singer beautifully sings his love for his model wife. The attractive twosome also gets completely naked (nothing Nsfw thanks to some strategic shadowing) and shares a sweet video of their first kiss as a married couple from their Sept. 14, 2013 wedding at an estate on Italy's Lake Como. "Very excited to share my new music video for 'All Of Me,'" Legend, 34, tweeted on Wednesday, Oct. 2. "This video is very special to me and you'll see why." Get used to seeing Miles Teller around, because he's not planning on going away anytime soon. After supporting roles in "21 and Over" and "Project X," as well as a critically acclaimed but underseen debut alongside Nicole Kidman in 2010's "Rabbit Hole," he steps out as a romantic lead in "The Spectacular Now," which expands its theatrical release this week.
Teller plays Sutter Keely, a charismatic but heavy drinking high school senior more concerned with "living in the now" than his future. Until, that is, he meets Aimee Finnicky (Shailene Woodley). Directed by James Ponsoldt, the film and the authentic performances delivered by Teller and Woodley (who will also appear together in the upcoming Ya adaptation "Divergent") have been lavished with praise.
NextMovie caught up with Teller in New York City the day after the MTV Video Music Awards, which Teller attended (along with some after-parties, he admitted) on Woodley's arm.

“That tricky motherf**ker”! Tis the season of amazing one liner’s and we were treated to some of the best in the latest episode of True Blood. That particular little gift was thrust upon us by Jason in an attempt to keep up the pretence of him actually caring that Eric had escaped, true Lavtf soldier style. Of course, Jason doesn’t care and his little charade seems to be working in his favour so far, he managed to get close to Jessica and help her to oh wait she has the hots for someone else… never mind. Unlucky Jason, it seems you don’t always get the girl but we can’t fault you for putting together your flawless plan to break Jessica out of Vamp Camp. You know who doesn’t have the hots for Jessica right now, me. She is spiralling out of control through her...

With her large breasts, tiny waist and doll-like features, Valeria Lukyanova's physical dimensions have been making eyes pop for quite some time. But the Ukrainian model known as the "real-life Barbie doll" is raising eyebrows this month for dimensions of a rather different variety, as she opens up in a new documentary about her experiences beyond our earthly reality.
In "Space Barbie," a new documentary short created by Vice, Lukyanova reveals that she's not your run-of-the-mill Barbie lookalike. Instead, the young woman -- who shot to fame last year when photos and videos of her began spreading around the Internet -- explains that she's really a spiritual guru who is using what she calls her nearly "perfect" physical form to enlighten the general public.

In the finale of the second series of BBC’s Sherlock, the eponymous character has the following exchange with Jim Moriarty, his arch enemy:
Jm: You think you can make me stop the order [to have Sherlock’s closest friends killed]? You think you can make me do that?
Sh: Yes, so do you.
Jm: Sherlock, your big brother and all the King’s horses couldn’t make me do a thing I didn’t want to.
Sh: Yes, but I’m not my brother, remember? I am you. Prepared to do anything. Prepared to burn. Prepared to do what ordinary people won’t do. You want me to shake hands with you in hell? I won’t disappoint you.
Jm: Nah – you talk big. Nah… you’re ordinary. You’re ordinary – you’re on the side of the angels.
Sh: Oh, I may be on the side of the angels… but don’t think for one second that I am one.

Hmm, how shall I describe my reaction when I read the news that Cher and the Logo network are teaming up on a TV show about '60s Hollywood? Hmmmm. How about: I fell through the floor and into the sky. This is news from a better dimension, people. A richer, greater universe where our queen is a half-breed gypsy tramp who's just like Jesse James and named, uh, Cher. I'm torqued for this show.
More tantalizing yet is we're not sure whether Cher will star in the show or bring any of her personal story to the plot. Luckily, this gives us an opportunity to propose ideas for the program and help egg along the creative process. Here are my five ideas for Cher/Logo collaboration about Hollywood in the swingin' '60s.

In her skin-tight black pants, badass black boots and devil-may-care white T-shirt, Agent Myka Bering looks a tad out of place on a hoity-toity golf course. Her partner, Pete Lattimer, on the other hand, fits right in with his dapper Polo shirt and perfectly creased pants.
We're on the set of Season 4 of "Warehouse 13," watching Myka (Joanne Kelly) and Pete (Eddie McClintock) trying to figure out what supernatural forces may have killed a man who died of apparent altitude exposure on a sunny Las Vegas golf course. (We're actually at the pristine Scarborough Golf Club, on the east side of Toronto, which also doubles for a horse racetrack in England later on.)

Exclusive: ABC and ABC Studios like their Beauty. Ruth Bradley (In Her Skin), who played the female lead in the ABC/ABC Studios drama pilot Beauty And The Beast, has signed a talent holding deal with the network and studio behind the project, which would likely lead to another pilot role for the Irish actress next season. Bradley, repped by Anonymous Content and UK’s Hamilton/Hodell, most recently starred in the ITV miniseries Titanic, which also aired on ABC, and in the Sundance film Grabbers, in which she stars opposite Richard Coyle.

Lakeshore Entertainment's I, Frankenstein adaptation went into production in Melbourne, Australia, at the end of February and we finally have our first look at Aaron Eckhart as Frankenstein's monster, Adam. Photographer Everhardt Strauss posted several photos from the set on his Flickr account.
Based on the Darkstorm Comics series created by Kevin Grevioux (Underworld), I, Frankenstein is being directed by Stuart Beattie (30 Days of Night), who also wrote the screenplay. The movie is set in an ancient city populated by all manner of monsters, where Adam finds himself caught up in a war between immortal enemies.
The full cast list has yet to be released, but it is known that Bill Nighy (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows) plays one of the major villains, a character he described to BBC Radio 2 as a "nasty piece of work," an angel who "descended with Satan." Yvonne Strahovski (TV's Chuck, Killer Elite) plays the female lead,...

Crustaceans by William Meikle
(Dark Regions Press)
It begins with a dead whale on a Boston shoreline–not in itself an unusual occurrence. But the things that claw their way out of the blubber are very unusual indeed. A cast of giant crabs, evolved over centuries, descends on a small coastal town and, having feasted, make their way to the city using the sewer system. Soon they are swarming around Manhattan, hunted and harried by a Swat team tasked with ridding the city of the menace…before the menace gets big enough to rid itself of the city.
Editions
Leather-bound Deluxe Thirteen Hardcover w/slipcase + discounted trade paperback: numbered 1-13, 6”x9”, bound in leather, signature page which is signed by both author and artist, front cover stamped and spine stamped with the title and the author’s name, includes end papers, colored book ribbon with a full colored header, 60lb.

To me, ABC is a hit or miss station. Some stuff they put out is good, most of it I avoid. I have some casting news that I found on Deadline, for two shows that I don’t plan on watching.
First is for ABC’s version of Beauty and The Beast. The lead female role has been found and it is Ruth Bradley (In Her Skin). The Irish actress will be joined by Scottish actor Darius Campbell as the leads in the pilot. Here is a little synopsis that was given:
A fantasy re-imagining of the classic Beauty and the Beast tale wherein an embattled princess, Grace (Bradley), discovers an unlikely connection with a mysterious beast, Shiro (Scottish singer-actor Darius Campbell), a mercenary bodyguard.
Lame!
Also on the casting radar is Monique Gabriela Curnen. She has been cast in as yet untitled Roland Emmerich drama, whose pilot will also air on ABC.

In her first U.S. gig, young Irish actress Ruth Bradley (In Her Skin) has landed the female lead in ABC’s drama pilot Beauty And The Beast. That makes for an Irish-Scottish pairing in the title roles of the project, a fantasy re-imagining of the classic Beauty and the Beast tale wherein an embattled princess, Grace (Bradley), discovers an unlikely connection with a mysterious beast, Shiro (Scottish singer-actor Darius Campbell), a mercenary bodyguard. Yves Simoneau is directing the ABC Studios pilot from a script by Jon Steinberg, Bradley’s casting comes on the heels of the Sundance premiere of the movie Grabbers, in which she stars opposite Richard Coyle. Bradley, repped by Anonymous Content and Hamilton/Hodell, next stars the ITV’s Titanic miniseries, which coincidentally airs on ABC this spring. Monique Gabriela Curnen (Lie To Me) rounds out the cast of another ABC drama pilot, the untitled Roland Emmerich drama,...

There are currently two shows in development, the other at the CW. Their version will be a reboot of the '80s series with Linda Hamilton and Ron Pearlman, whereas the premise of this one is detailed below.. A fantasy re-imagining of the classic Beauty and the Beast tale wherein an embattled princess, Grace (Bradley), discovers an unlikely connection with a mysterious beast, Shiro (Scottish singer-actor Darius Campbell), a mercenary bodyguard. Only days after we learned that Bill Nighy (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows) is in negotiations to play the primary villain opposite Aaron Eckhart (Battle: Los Angeles) in Lakeshore Ent.'s I, Frankenstein adaptation and that Socratis Otto (Anyone You Want) had joined the cast as a minor villain, more casting news has surfaced. Much has been written on the body image issues adolescent girls develop because of advertisements featuring women well outside the norm and photoshopped elements. Framing that in the context of a missing persons investigation, In Her Skin is the true story of Caroline Reid’s mental breakdown and the murder it leads her to commit. Though the film can brag an impressive cast, some over-the-top performances detract from the boast and sabotage an otherwise engaging story with a disturbingly intimate murder scene.

Shark Night 3D That entity known as the big old bad MPAA just pounded their gavel and handed in their verdict for an awful lot of horror films during the past week. I have to say I am mighty surprised at the rating that Shark Night 3D got. Didn't see that one coming what so ever. It's the first time I have truly been surprised by one of their ratings since they originally gave "How to Deal" an R rating for language. So take a peek for yourself to see what ratings the MPAA handed down. I discovered a few new titles just seeing this list myself.

Kiss Me Deadly (Criterion) Robert Aldrich’s 1955 reinvention of the film noir detective story is one of cinema’s great genre mash-ups: part hardboiled noir; part cold war paranoid thriller; and part science- fiction. Ralph Meeker plays Mickey Spillane’s fascist detective Mike Hammer as a narcissistic simian thug, a sadist who would rather smash a suspect’s fingers than make love to the bevvy of beautiful dames that cross his path. In fact, the only time you see a smile cross Meeker’s sneering mug is when he’s doling out pain, with a vengeance. When a terrified young woman (Cloris Leachman, film debut) literally crossed Hammer’s path one night, and later turns up dead, he vows to get to the bottom of her brutal demise. One of the most influential films ever made, and perhaps the most-cited film by the architects...

The Buzz: The trailer for Super 8 sent shivers down my spine — good shivers. This film looks to be a beautifully crafted Spielbergian throwback. I’m pleased with the lack of A-list actors too. There’s been an air of mystery around this whole production, as J.J.Abrams and company did their best at keeping everything about this film on the hush-hush. IFC will release the 2009 Australian thriller In Her Skin, based on the true story of a 1999 abduction and murder in Melbourne, on DVD on June 7.
Guy Pearce searches for answers in In Her Skin.
Written and directed by Simone North, the movie boasts the impressive cast of Guy Pearce (Memento), Sam Neill (Daybreakers) and Miranda Otto (Lord of the Rings).
The film’s story revolves around a 19-year-old named Caroline (Ruth Bradley) who stalks, abducts and ultimately slays 15-year-old Rachel Barber (Kate Bell), who Caroline idolizes and considers to be “perfect.” Rachel’s disappearance prompts her parents (Pearce, Otto) to take immediate action, though the police seem to be indifferent about the situation. The truth eventually comes out, but not without a price.

Every now and then a trailer comes along and offers a glimpse of a movie you had no idea you wanted to see, if only because you wouldn't have thought it could exist in a million years. Case in point: the trailer for this Australian thriller In Her Skin. Until now, I had no idea that there was any hope of getting a Lifetime movie starring Guy Pearce and Sam Neill. But here we are!

I hadn’t heard much of anything about this movie, but once I saw Guy Pearce’s name, my ears picked up. The actor has been sticking to projects mainly out of his native Australia, and we previously saw him in the critically acclaimed Animal Kingdom last year. Now he’s starring in In Her Skin, where he plays a concerned father in a reality-based film. Based on a true story, 'In Her Skin' follows nineteen year old Caroline who, consumed with self-loathing,...

Seriously, can someone explain to me why Guy Pearce isn't in... everything? Why does he not get more parts? And while we're at it, can we all agree that some of the most impressive films coming out these days are coming from Australia? As if I didn't love that country enough. Of course, child kidnapping and murder movies aren't exactly what we think of when we think of Australia, but damn if In Her Skin doesn't look pretty good.
Speaking of underused actors, that same applies to Miranda Otto. Woman is amazing. In Her Skin (actual title is I Am You, but apparently it's international release is getting a name change) is written and directed by Simone North, and is based on a (creepy as fuck) true story.
