I am a little disappointed with RBD: La Familia. I am a fan of the group RBD and the telenovela Rebelde, and I have been watching the series for that reason. But so far (up to episode 5) nothing interesting has happened. If there's supposed to be a storyline that connects the episodes, I haven't found it. The characters run around for 45 minutes pretty much doing nothing, except, of course, talk about sex. This bothers me because RBD has a lot of young fans, and I don't agree the way they treat sex topics. For example, Maite's virginity. The characters are dumbfounded by this revelation, and some even pressure her into losing it. Maybe I am a little old fashioned, but that doesn't mean I think they should not talk about sex. They should just do it in a more responsible matter... and maybe not spend every episode talking about it. I was expecting to see the hectic life RBD lives trying to balance concerts, interviews, practice, new albums, and their personal lives. If you had never heard about RBD, it would be difficult to tell that they actually are a music group.
Now, the characters. I find some of them to be very annoying. For example, Alfonso's mature girlfriend. It's difficult for me to even describe her; I don't know what her point is in the series. Maybe she's supposed to be the "villain", trying to take Poncho away from his RBD friends. And Maite, I seriously doubt she is anything like that in real life... at least I hope with all my heart. Her character does tarot card reading, very strange meditation, and weird things along those lines. I believe that in real life, she is the most sensible and stable of the group, and they completely modified her.
The script isn't that great, but I was already used to this from Rebelde. Characters just talk because they can... in a very incoherent manner sometimes.
In conclusion, I will keep watching because I'm a true RBD fan. But i hope the storyline gets better and we can actually see what backstage-RBD is truly about.
